Deciding that it's not your problem and stepping away has its merits sometimes, when someone else is going to come along and fix things. However, a lot of times, that isn't the case. The reason a lot of horrible shit is let slide in our world is because everyone says "it's not my problem" until no one fixes anything. Someone has to get the guts to step up and *make it* their problem, or else nothing will ever improve. And particularly within the context of Elden Ring, that person *has* to be you. There's no one else cannonically capable of fixing this broken world, so it's either you do it or things remain broken and hostile long after you're gone. In a sense, you're abandoning things that need you. And besides, leaving others to clean up your mess is just general asshole behavior.

Also, I don't personally think a casino is a good analogy, as life itself isn't malicious. It's not actively trying to hurt you, it just happens to sometimes. A casino is actively trying to suck you dry at every turn. It's easy to confuse the two in the midst of a lot of pain. It's easy to think that whatever powers may be actively have it out for you.
