I'm sorry I took so long to answer this question, it's hard to give coloring advice without it turning into a 45-minute presentation, and also lowkey this:

Since you said 'tips', here are some off the top of my head! And ofcourse, none of these are definitive rules, and are biased to my opinions/tastes, take what you will and leave what doesn't resonate :) 1. Refrain from using pure black and pure white in your work, these are the highest contrasting colors and will make your work look 'dull' if utilised too much! 2. Try to keep track of your B&W values as you keep working on your piece, this is kind of biased to rendered/painted work though, but should work for cel-shading too! 3. Try to limit yourself to a palette, because sometimes we go a little too crazy and use every colour in the book when you don't need that much to make a stunning artwork. I know the 'basics' get a little boring sometimes but choosing a completementary/analogous/triad palette really does help you at the end of the day. I used to use this site a lot to choose palettes, it might help you out too! It's called ColorSupply 4. Learning things like light refraction/bounce light is most effective when you study your surroundings and objects! Whenever I'm outside, or doing something, I catch myself observing the items/objects around me to further study how light catches on different objects. I'll get too long-winded if I keep going, but there are a ton of YouTube resources that should be able to help you with this! 5. If your main piece is warm, your shadows will be cool. And vice versa, if your main piece is cool, then your shadows will be warm. Ok, I'll stop there cuz if not I'll keep rambling... hope this managed to help, even if just a bit!
