@ fellow white people
following this shit show of an election, when people say things like ‘white people did this’ 'fuck white people’ etc., if you respond with 'i voted for hillary’, you are missing the point. the majority of white people voted for trump. that’s a fact and we have to own that and deal with it. you might have voted for hillary, but we belong to a group that elected that half-melted creamsicle that’s been dropped on the ground. people of color have every right to be angry at us and wary of us and we need to look at ourselves and people we know and figure out how to fix it.

get some rest. go eat something. stay hydrated. check up on your loved ones. time won’t stop ticking and the world won’t stop turning. it’s up to you to keep turning with it.
white people, stand up for poc. straight people, stand up for those in the lgbtq+ community. men, defend and respect all women, trans or not. support muslims and immigrants as their families are threatened to be torn apart.
the following months will be rough, but we’re the united states of america, so let’s be united together as we work through these coming hardships.
one day at a time.

An ‘Obama era’ crashes as Donald Trump takes White House
Donald Trump’s stunning victory Tuesday was nothing less than a repudiation of the Obama presidency.
“Elections have consequences,” as President Obama himself said after his 2008 win. And for Obama, it’s hard to imagine a more consequential outcome Tuesday night.
With Republicans maintaining control of the House and Senate, President-elect Trump would be in a position to repeal large parts of Obama’s legislative agenda, repeal his executive orders with a stroke of a pen, and install conservative Supreme Court justices.
Consider the opposite scenario: Clinton’s election would have ushered in a new era of American politics: The Obama era. With his former secretary of State in the White House, Obama would be able to count on on a successor who will pursue some of his most transformative and controversial policies: immigration reform, the expansion of health care and environmental regulation.
Trump has pledged to repeal every one of them.

I don’t even know if I can put words to tonight. Shock. Horror. Fear.
The next 4 years are going to be hard. A Republican House, Senate, and Presidency, all at the same time. We are going to see the undoing of many years of progress. We are going to see toxic demagoguery make this country unsafe for millions of people.
And yet, the sun will come up tomorrow. The trees will still be pretty. Christmas music will still be played a month too early. Burritos will still be delicious.
Politics are important and they affect many aspects of our lives, but a regressive government can’t take everything from us. In the coming years we will need to remind ourselves of the small joys that we can find that can’t be stolen from us.
So reach out, find the emotional support you need, take a deep breath, and keep going. You’re doing great.
