Hey all, jumping on to say that yes, I’ve seen Cryaotic’s video and yes, I know who he is. I grew up watching him, in the same way I grew up with Pewdiepie. Mark and Jack came way, way later.

I don’t even know what to say. I’m sure everyone else most likely said everything already. I’ve just reached the point of exhaustion.

Yep! Haven’t been playing often because I was raised on 1e (my dad has the original books) and I've spent a couple months getting up to speed in 5e. I’m super excited to get back into the swing of things!

I do! I'm currently DMing an eight-party campaign, so I've got my hands pretty full. For another campaign at college, I’ve been floating the idea of a gnome barbarian, just for the absurdity of it! I’m more well-versed in VtM, but I love how limitless DnD is.

I'm the trans anon that wasn't out yet. I told my friends and used that to explain why I wish he'd apologize. They told me that I have no idea what I'm talking about and how I don't deserve to transition if I'm going to use it to hate on Sean. I lost my "friends" (real friends show support). They don't represent the fandom but they used to be SO pro-lgbt and I don't know why else all of them would change their views so radically apart from his change. Bye toxic jse fandom. It was a good 4yrs.

I’m so sorry that you had to go through this. There are so many others who are less toxic (if toxic at all) and it’s awful that you had to get stuck with those who were that toxic. You deserve to feel valid and comfortable, and your “friends” didn’t do that for you.

Hey all, after much thought I’ve decided to retire this blog. That’s not to say I will never be back! Might pop in every month or so.

I guess I’ve just given up hoping that things will change. Plus, I’ve taken on more projects that demand most of my time. I do encourage you to make your own discourse blog - it doesn’t have to be about YouTubers, it could be about anything! Just keep that conversation going. About the coffee thing from what I noticed most of the stans don’t like coffee but are forcing themselves to like it just so they can buy Sean’s brand. If you don’t like coffee then don’t buy it even if the product is endorsed by Jacksepticeye.

Yes! Please remember that you’re not weak or mean for blocking anyone. It’s for your own mental health. Some discourse blogs have blocked fans just like fans have blocked discourse blogs. It’s there for a reason.

No one wins or loses an argument if a block is involved. It just means the conversation is over.

I love this analysis!!! I agree that Sean definitely has potential. He has about six(?) characters who have all been turned into vastly different people via the community, and he has a lot to work with and flesh out. I’d absolutely love to see where he could go with this.

I think the main reason everyone praised the screaming was because it was, well, screaming. A lot of people think that good acting means loud or exaggerated. As you proved with this, that’s not the case! There was nothing behind the scream. I want to see what Sean could do about that, because I have a feeling he could do something really interesting with it.

On a final note, definitely tag me if you ever do that in-depth analysis of CHASE! I’d love to hear your elaborations.

Let’s talk about Sean’s acting.

So.

When “CHASE” came out 6 months ago, people were praising Sean’s acting to the high heavens- how much they enjoyed it and how good it was.  

Now, let me be VERY CLEAR- there’s absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying his performance and enjoying “CHASE” as a video.  I enjoyed “CHASE” as a video and thought it’s cinematography and effects were well done!  If you enjoyed it and liked Sean’s acting, please continue to do so!  I am only critiquing Sean’s acting, I am not critiquing YOU PERSONALLY for liking something.  And also, please recognize that everything I say is my own opinion and you do not have to agree with it, but I have a right to voice it.

Having said that, Sean’s acting was not good in “CHASE.”

Now, before everyone lights their torches and grabs their pitchforks, let me explain.  

Sean’s acting was not good, but this is largely derivative of being an amateur actor and his lack of experience.  That’s the reason I’m even bothering writing this in the first place: to impart knowledge that I’ve gained through my own acting experiences onto someone who may not have that knowledge.

Ever since the homophobic game controversy some really nasty people have made themselves known. I got over that when he apologized but now with the transphobic thumbnail I just don't know if I can. He isn't apologizing for it and any of my jse friends I've brought it up with are telling me to get over myself. No one knows I'm trans yet because I'm too scared to come out in an environment that isn't safe. I just wish he'd apologize so that people see that it isn't acceptable.

Oh bean, I'm so sorry you’re in this situation. It feels like a constant contradiction on his end - he says he supports the community and then turns around and does something like this. It makes sense that you’re uneasy about it. 

I think in the act of defending someone, people often lose sight of their own morals. That can be really frightening to see those you called friends unintentionally invalidate you. I think people believe as long as he continues to say he supports the LGBTQ+ community, that should be enough. His actions should support his statement. I get was he was going for with the thumbnail, but regardless of the content in the video, he used the thumbnail as clickbait, which trivializes the real struggle.

I’m glad you came to talk to me about this. You’re definitely not alone. Hopefully people see where you’re coming from and understand how their words negatively affect you.
