Summer status report

Hey everyone :) I'm back from my holidays and I've already started working on Weeping Gods a few weeks ago. I'm currently in the process of the first round of editing, plus I've also started adding new content to the next chapter, which you can already find on my patreon.

However, at the moment, I have a lot less free time, and I don't want to take away from my writing hours, so instead I'll be a lot less present on social media for a while. I will start answering a few of the messages I've gotten in the meantime, but I have a lot to go through, so it's entirely possible that I won't answer everything. I hope you guys understand, and thanks for all the continuous love and support ❤️

Is there a way to magically make something into a demon trapping object, and can I put it on my noble MC's comically oversized bug catching net.

Lmao yeah, you could. It won't be effective against Qenna's demon though because that one is inside Qenna's body, and so spells like this aren't really working on them. You could catch Qenna with it, but then the demon would very likely rip apart the comically oversized bug catching net, and your MC too if it's in a bad mood.

There are spells that can trap normal spirits. So Zaia or Ebo could be caught with one, but it's a bit too late for the demon 😅

An RO ask, if I may: this is slightly inspired by something from one of my play throughs - how would the ROs react to MC getting hurt trying to protect them? Like jumping in front of an arrow that was aimed at the RO? (I play a Noble MC most of the time if it matters)

Chapter 5 out 🥳

First of all...

THE SAVES WILL BREAK! There is no workaround. The saves will break.

Second, READ THE CONTENT WARNINGS AGAIN. This is important. Some heavy stuff will be present in this chapter.

The update is 158 000 extra words. The chapter is playable to the end, but it's still a work in progress. There will be missing choices towards the middle and end, which will be added later.

Right now though, I'm going on a vacation, so I will be much slower to answer until I get back at the end of June.

Has Ebo ever had a romance? Either as a spirit or in life?

Yes, Ebo was 40-something when he died and he had a family. He had some hookups later as a spirit too, but nothing involving feelings.

Who has the most flavour text with the priest? I like playing them the most but have recently fallen in love with guard captain

I think all MCs have around the same amount of content with everyone 🤔

Do u have any ideas of how Priest MC's scars may look like from the fire or is it up to the player??

They look like burn scars, but where they are and how serious, that's not specified. I think some may be on the back of MC's hand because I remember writing that when MC flexed their hand, the skin was sensitive. But you can imagine anything you want. It doesn't even have to be overly visible, but some scars will definitely remain if your MC was badly burned.

Absolutely. Maybe without asking too. It's usually Narmer who eats Qenna's leftovers, but MC can definitely volunteer as well 👍

Really loving my noble MC starting out "close" to the rest of the family and judgemental of Pihu and very distant, only to end up debating moving away from the rest of them and being fully willing to kill for Pihu...

So, my Thief!MC romances Namer, right?

I like to imagine my MC teaching Atmose their dastardly and stealthy ways, simply as bonding or to enhance the pranking abilities of Atmose.

How would Namer feel about this?

More: "aww, they're bonding!"

Or

*imagining the potential chaos* "Oh no, they're bonding!"

For that matter, how would everyone else react.

I imagine that view is burned into thief's father's brain as well 😂

Narmer wouldn't mind MC teaching Ahmose, I think :D Ahmose is a good kid, all things considered. They take their responsibilities seriously, and for Narmer, that's the most important thing. If Ahmose has fun while doing so, that's just extra happiness for Narmer, especially if it means that MC and his child are getting along.

For everyone else, well, Qenna would help teach Ahmose, obviously. Qenna's always had a big influence on them, and according to Ahmose, Qenna is a lot more fun than their father anyway.

Zaia would tag along too. They would snark Qenna the entire way, and Ahmose could definitely talk them into being their lookout.

Tabiry would be slightly horrified, but she would try to convince herself that those are actually very useful practical skills for a prince/princess.

News for June

I've had a pretty rough week, but I added (almost) every scene to the current patreon build of the game to make Chapter 5 playable.

This will be the last patreon game update before I go on a holiday for June. I'm going to be in Egypt for a few weeks, collecting more data about the game locations, and also, just relaxing because I really fucking need it. I've been working every day on this game since last August, including weekends and holidays, and my brain is in desperate need of a recharge. Thank you for all who decided to keep supporting me while I take my break, I'm very grateful for all of you! ❤️❤️❤️

The next patreon update will happen either at the end of June or early July.

The public Chapter 5 update will be on the 6th of June, which is going to be the exact same build as the current patreon one. There are many choices missing around the middle and end, but it's completely playable until the end of the chapter.

I noticed something strange and funny during my Noble!MC playthrough. My character's name is Thotmes and when I get back to the palace and interact with the gate captain who is also named Thotmes. Its funny to picture two of them in the Spidermans pointing at eachother meme. Haha

Thotmes was a very popular name! Also, I love naming several characters the same. It's realistic! Don't tell me you never met anyone who had the same name as yours. It's just... a thing that happens 😂

I know writers usually don't do this to avoid confusion, but for me, it feels fake when everyone has a perfectly unique name that no other character in the world has. Most people don't do that in real life. In my extended family, there are at most 3 male names. Good luck figuring out who is who, especially if the last name is identical as well.

Yup! The ceremony in the first chapter can have a few different outcomes, depending on how you handle it.

I'm absolutely delighted that MC can learn magic as a thief. I think its a fun combination. Well, maybe not so fun for anyone who has to deal with magically inclined thieves.

It does seem that thief MC was already really good at what they do, so releasing them into their natural habitat now would definitely double the trouble they bring. Probably quadruple it if they learn how to read.

On top of that, my MC also chose the quick exit tablet. I know its a temporary weapon, but a thing like this feels like it was destined for a thief to have their hands on.

Skilled and experienced, able sense magic somewhat, can withstand multiple hits uninjured, will blast shit away from them when needed, and supposedly can just. leave at whatever point.

They are now basically the thieviest thief to ever thief.

Qenna will definitely have a talk with a thief MC later if you nail the mission.

I absolutely love priest MC Qenna pairing. The flavor text of the priest makes the situation feel uniquely tragic. I also thought the interaction between Qenna's problem and the priest who died in the beginning was super touching!

Priests can have a very unique insight into some things if you killed them in the beginning 👀
