After the holidays have come and gone, and we've taken down the holiday decor, it can feel a little cold and empty. In the past, I've struggled to find ways to make the space feel warm and inviting between the holidays and springtime. If you've been feeling the same way this year and want some quick tips -- here are some simple ways to keep your home feeling cozy throughout the winter months as we transition to spring. Start by simplifying the space and deciding if you want your decor to have a theme or just an all around feeling of cozy. A deep "New Years" cleaning will do wonders in making the space feel fresh and decluttered. 1.) Area rugs. Area rugs are really nice throughout the year but if you need to warm up the space or have hard flooring, adding an area rug can really help to create a cozy and comfortable environment. 2.) Pillows and cozy throw blankets! You can never have too many during the winter months. Keeping the pillow colors and blankets neutral is perfect for transitioning into the spring. 3.) Candles and twinkle lights. Taking down the magic all at once can feel a little jarring. Keep some sparkle in the house by adding or keeping small twinkle lights and candles around the house. You can be creative with them in centerpieces or in the fireplace. 4.) Fireplace décor. If you have a fireplace in your home, you know how sad, and bare it can feel after the holidays. Keep a decorative basket filled with wood on the hearth beside the fireplace, or a basket of comfy blankets (keeping them away from fire of course). Adding small simple touches of greenery and candles to the mantel can help to make the space feel clean and alive. Also, displaying a large framed mirror on the mantle can help to make your space feel larger, lighter, and brighter. 5.) Greenery - Adding small simple touches of greenery throughout the home will help to keep your home feeling fresh and alive! I like to use eucalyptus throughout the year. Make a list of what you love about your current place, and what you don’t. What room is your favorite? What makes it your favorite?
