thinking about the poll about canon vs non-canon ships that didn't define terms, and the current fandom focus on things "going canon," so i made up a scale.

this is NOT a question about whether canon matters to what you ship (or matters at all), just how to define the phrase "canon ship."

many ships start low on the scale and slow burn their way up, so vote for the point when you would have called them "canon." i agonized over the order (especially #4-6) for a day and a half, but i went with the order in which i think joe random with a nielsen ratings box and no tumblr account would notice/call something a romantic relationship.

See Dean gets mad 😡 at Cas for ghosting him and then there’s a conflict about it and Cas makes this face 🥺 and Dean lets it go then Cas goes and does the same thing that upset Dean again 😡 immediately and then Cas makes this face 🥺 and Dean lets it go but imagine what would happen if Dean ALSO made this face 🥺 instead of this face 😡 and then maybe cried.

So this magnificent person brought this picture to HousCon for j2 to sign: 

and shares the story of getting it signed here: 

‘…the volunteer called Clif…over to check it out. He said Jensen wishes he looked like that. I gave it to the handler and she starts giggling. Clif is waiting for Jensen to see it. She hands it to Jensen and he starts laughing. He says I wish I had guys who looked like that to wash my car. He signs it but keeps staring at it for like a minute and finally gives it back. 

I get in line for Jared….Jared’s handler who seems like a tough chick said ‘what the fuck!’ and then apologised and said Jared still kind of looks like that. She hands it to Jared and he’s like ‘oh my God’. Then he takes out his phone, scrolls through something and looks at the art again….Jared is comparing himself in a shirtless picture on his phone to a shirtless drawing of himself!!! He’s wondering why Jensen has the better abs. He signs it and tells me to draw him with more abs next time. I’m thinking ‘I didn’t draw it!’ but say ok I will!’

BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE! Someone else was at autos and witnessed this: 

‘I had seen [Jared] exclaiming over a girl’s art…From what I could see, I think there was a shirtless Dean. She left and we stepped forward. I was watching Jared, but somehow I looked up when all of a sudden here comes Jensen sauntering up to Jared’s table. Watching that man walk is a religious experience. Anyway, he came right up behind Jared and grabbed him in what looked like it was going to be a headlock, but turned into a really sweet hug with Jensen’s arm around his neck and his chin on his shoulder. Jared was in the middle of signing and didn’t really react, just smiled softly….Jared then said, ‘Hey! I just saw a picture of you with abs!’ Jensen…said ‘I haven’t had abs since 1992!’ and walked out the door. Jared said ‘yeah more like 19….30′ while looking at me since Jensen was already gone.’ 

THIS IS ALL PURE GOLD but that last bit in particular slakes my constant thirst for Jared calling Jensen an old man (’while looking at me’ etc I DIE).

13.01 Lost and Found

This is so kind of you to say. I really struggled with that piece over the few days I worked on it, and I was pretty frustrated with it by the end, so it means a lot, and it's really encouraging to hear the work put in is worth it sometimes, cause it doesn't always feel like it is, yknow. And of course I love any kind feedback, but fellow artists seeing things that they like in your work is just so!!! ❤️❤️ Yknow!!! Like we know what goes into it and everything, technically and also just mentally, and emotionally lmao, so seeing that like a peer in this things that we love sees value in a thing you worked on is really cool. Idk that I can really express how much your words mean, but like it's everything to me to convey the beauty that I see and for that to inspire another artist, like that's literally everything.

As far as style, the thing is, I feel the same way, because I feel like I'm constantly jumping and and trying different things, and it can be difficult for me to fully commit to focusing on just one medium and technique and trying to perfect it, cause I just wanna try everything, and like doing a cohesive series would be really difficult for me. But I also don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. It can take longer to learn things when you're trying to learn everything, but in the end you do know a lot of stuff, and that's pretty cool too.

But your art does have significant throughlines for sure, like your sense of contrast and of design, purposeful deliberate color palettes, strong contour lines. Those are things specifically I get jealous of in a way cause I definitely do struggle with that. And like the overall impact of the images you create is strong. Maybe You don't think you have a style, but I at least think your art has a recognizable stamp of being yours. 💗💗

oh gosh, elle, you are MORE than welcome. you're so very talented and your art is so beautiful and rich and very obviously yours—i personally have no real style to speak of, so am always completely wowed when i can recognise someone's art, y'know? so cool.

and yes, you absolutely inspired me! i have such terrible, debilitating block rn. like, i've done around 30 pieces of art in the last year; i used to do that in a bloody week!! ugh. but the way you drew dean in the artwork i linked in mine made me not only appreciate (all over again) how wonderful jackles face is to draw—the mix of soft and hard lines in his features is so unique—but also made me gasp bc of the way YOU saw him... it really was like @cloverhighfive said (i am so totally going to screenshot those tags and rb in a minute btw!):

your depiction of him was like he was one of michelangelo's or bernini's sculptures! and that just reminded me what it was/is to create ToT

my dean art had no real thought go into it, and isn't half as pretty as yours, imo, but oh my stars, it was fun to try and make something pretty again!
