From an article about Benwell Cemetery, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK
"The first burial was that of Elizabeth Clark, aged five, of Benwell Colliery in 1833.
Between 1870-1879, 41% of all deaths were of infants of five years or under and between 1900-1909, the proportion was 51% . At this time 48% of burials were of infants under three.
A major cause was epidemics of infectious diseases , including measles, diptheria, scarlet fever and TB." I'll just let that fact stand here for all the anti-vaxxers and anti-antibiotics types in the wings.

I never had TikTok and won't have it, but I have gotten rid of Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram with no regrets. Tumblr is it for me along with YouTube but only with history turned off. I only look at my subscriptions. Good for you! Well done!
Quit Tik tok this evening. There is no more value anymore during this time in our lives. Mental health and brain was becoming fried. Using my time for more fruitful activities. Making life worth living.

If you are wondering what is going on in the Middle East, and why Netanyahu is doing what he is doing, this article goes a long way to explaining all that. Whatever you may think of Islam as whole, radicalized Islam is dangerous, pervasive, fanatical, and demonizes and imprisons whole swaths of moderate and good people. It is a very interesting and comprehensive article.

I have never heard of this fellow, but dang it, that's a good quote!

"You don't see how many of [the demons] fall and turn their backs with every prayer you say. You only see how much you are wounded. But they are also thrashed; they also suffer. Every time we are patient, they flee with leaps and bounds, and every time we say the prayer, they are seriously injured. So, at the time of battle, when you are firing shots and bullets, don't expect them to throw marshmallows and chocolates."
☩ St. Joseph the Hesychast

Oh Canada
So true to Canadian culture, I am backing out of a parking spot at the grocery store this morning and another fellow in front of me decides he is going to pull through into my spot. No worries. He waits. I back up. BUT I am beside an SUV and I am in a sedan so I can't really see past it while backing up...until....OH CRAP...there is a man standing there about 2 feet from my car waiting for me and gave me the shock of my life. I could have hit the guy if he hadn't waited or if he had assumed that I saw him and was going to stop. "Oh my! I am so very sorry", says I, hand on heart, at the very same time he stands there politely waving and apologizes to me for scaring me. Yup. That's the Canadian way of life. We all apologize no matter who is at fault.
