Nov 22, 2014, The Duke Live: Taking it to new heights, Jessica Speziale turns it up with Shine—the highly anticipated follow up to her debut E.P., “Dear Reverie”.

Speziale blows us away with her 15 piece orchestra, playing alongside Dixieland horns and soulful drums on her alto saxophone while belting out those powerhouse vocals we love so much!

This independent project, partially fan-funded and produced by MC2 Records here in Toronto, will be released tonight at the Duke Live. The album offers 10 tracks and represents a collection of fan favorites and new tunes including the namesake “Shine” which, in her pop-rock-soul signature sound, had us at the first harmonic slide of a muted trumpet, and the echoing bounce of an electric rock guitar.

The video portrays the grass roots Toronto music scene of Queen Street West as soul-rocker Speziale parades her marching band through the sidewalks and into Trinity Bellwoods Park where she literally shines as one Canada’s top independent female musicians.

“This is the first time I’ve played with such a large band,” says Speziale, who tells ATB that her producers Matt Makarenko and Darnell Toth (MC2 Records) suggested adding the horns—which truly do elevate the track’s audio vibe to epic status! Part Dixieland, part jazz, part rock and roll, and a large part “Speziale” at her finest, this track alone justifies the entire project from a fan perspect (and yes, we are huge fans).

Jessica Speziale began writing and performing music as a child, having learned acoustic guitar from her dad. She has won several music awards here in Canada and has an international following through digital and social media.

The “Shine” Release Party is tonight, November 22, at the Duke Live in Toronto; Doors at 8:00 and tickets are $15 with a copy of the CD. Come on out!

I think I might bring my new red P-Bone and play along! (just kidding).

Powerhouse Indie Collaborations in Toronto: Marlon Chaplin and Jessica Speziale

Marlon Chaplin and Jessica Speziale blew me away this past winter when I was involved in the production of “Don’t You Fall” produced by Felideye Pictures in Toronto.

Chaplin and Speziale came together to sing this hauntingly soulful piano ballad featuring the powerhouse vocals of the beautiful and talented Speziale against the backdrop of Chaplin’s grande piano, and incredible lyrics.
