How to improve your Korean handwriting
When I got confident in hangul (knowing the characters) I realised my handwriting is so ugly. I mean, my handwriting is ugly to begin with, but my Korean handwriting was the worst. I can’t even open my old notebooks… So if you feel like you have the same problem, try these tips and see how it turns out for you! I’m not gonna lie, you’ll have to practice a lot, but these will certainly make the process easier.
원고지 paper If you are starting to learn hangul, or having problems writing korean words properly in a lined paper, try squared papers. You can download these in 150자, 200자, 400자, 500자, 1000자 etc. variants. Here is an example from keytokorean.com. Download & print. A lot of it, seriously. You are going to need these when you are practicing for TOPIK essay writing. I write all my essays on 원고지. Don’t forget that there are rules you have to follow when writing in these papers, see more here or search for ‘원고지 사용법’.
Trying out different fonts I couldn’t really develop my own handwriting style at first, so this trick helped me a lot.
Search for ‘korean handwriting font’. Direct link to my favourites: Naver Nanum fonts.
Choose, download and install one you like. Tip: download more than one, so you can try out different styles.
Open Word, paste a somewhat long text. Tip: 송창식’s 가나다라 (click for video) lyrics (click for lyrics) has all the characters. Make sure you use a text that you know, you don’t have to understand it, just know what characters you are going to write. If you are a beginner, try a syllable list, see below for link.
Change the font to the one you installed, increase the font size to your liking.
Change the font color to a lighter pastel color, not too light though.
Print out the paper, and start writing over the light text with a pen.
Repeat until you are getting the hang of it, then try to write with the same style in a blank paper.

Printable 가나다라 song lyrics Nanum font practice
Create your own with your favourite lyrics, poem, anything & different fonts! ^^ (Btw it works with light gray text too, you don’t have to print in colored)
Best case scenario: your handwriting is now pretty. Worst case scenario: your handwriting didn’t improve but now you can easily read native korean’s handwriting. Or at least kind of guess the characters.
None of these will work overnight, you just have to practice and find your own style!
Some examples with my handwriting below:

Hiya! It's me again, the person who was interested in attending a Japanese college. I saw your one answer for someone's question that you were an English teacher for elementary kids. I've been trying to get some information on that job myself, since some people have told me it's a good job for English-speakers who want to move to Japan. Is there any information you can give me on it? Like, the pros and cons, or if you like it or not? Thanks again!
Hi! I’m going to try and answer this as thoroughly but simply as possible. I’m not sure if you’re interested in the answer anymore, but all the same...
pros / things i like
it gets you to Japan quick and is a relatively easy process since most of the paperwork is done for you by the company that hires you
usually the only qualification that’s absolutely required is a Bachelor’s degree (in any field)
you can choose from a variety of companies and places to work so you have a plethora of options
I love my kids to pieces and I would fight anyone over them I swear to god they are all such incredible little humans and I will never forget them for the rest of my life
cons / things i dislike
you’re going to work overtime and you’ll likely end up working odd hours depending on the company you work for
Japanese work culture is no joke -- you’re given days off that you’re expected to use, but when you do you’ll be questioned severely and will be expected to “apologize” to your coworkers for your absence
your pay won’t likely be that high, especially after tax (but this also depends on the average wage of your home country)
if you’re a woman and choose to teach adults -- beware; I know more than a few foreign women that acquired stalkers during their teaching periods and only got rid of them after leaving the prefecture/country
I have a lot of thoughts about teaching English in Japan. While I think it was an amazing experience for me and I’m so glad I took this year to do what I set out to do, I’m also comfortable choosing to change my career path into something that’s more realistic.
If you want to know more -- or have more specific questions about things I said -- please feel free to ask me ^^

as a bi girl, i’m fucking tired of hearing other wlw say that f/f relationships are inherently better, healthier, and more pure than m/f relationships. stop telling wlw that women are never abusive. stop telling bi girls that men cant love them the way women can. if you believe that love is love, fucking act like it.

Japanese Podcasts
I love listening to podcasts when I have the chance to sit down!
I thought it would be nice to make a list of podcasts that I’ve found and if you have any to share, I’d love to know who you listen to!
JLPT Stories is probably one of my favorites, they rank their stories between JLPT N5 to N1 and give you the English translations, as well as the important words and phrases in them.
SBS Japanese is technically “advanced” in that it features interviews, features, and community stories from Australia (and sometimes, internationally). The subjects they talk about are quite wide ranging and incredibly diverse, definitely my favorite!
Tofugu is probably one of the more well known “podcasts” and geared more towards beginners!
日本語を大切にしたい。Slow and Polite Japanese is geared more toward intermediate and advanced learners but basically is what the title says it is.
Podcast In a Tub - お風呂でポッドキャスト Lily Okamoto is a Japanese returnee (3rd culture kid) and talks about her viewpoints, awareness, feminism, et al in a mix of Japanese and English. Sometimes there are guest speakers!
にほんごザッツ☆談 日本語・Nihongo・Japanese is made by a Japanese couple and geared towards intermediate and advanced learners but has tips on learning Japanese.
Let’s Talk in Japanese is similar to JLPT stories! A Japanese teacher talks in Japanese and ranks them based on their JLPT level.
Also, check out nihongogogo and uni-venture posts that share other podcasts not listed here!

How do you use the English alphabet and the Japanese alphabet together because I'm having trouble finding how to use both without switching my keyboard settings every time thank you for reading this❤
I have to switch my keyboard settings! But on my Mac, I have it set to the Romaji keyboard for when I type in all English so that I can easily switch to Hiragana / Katakana keyboards. I think it really depends on the computer you have because for me, that’s the setting I use.
Similarly on my phone, I use the Simeji keyboard so I can easily switch between Japanese and English!

DIY spa day🌹
1.prepare your space: make sure your room and bathroom are clean and smell nice and change your bedsheets. light some candles. if you have a diffuser put in fennel oil or lavender oil. super calming.
2.boil some water in a pot to use as a steam mask.
3.fill the tub with water, add a handfull of epsom salt, a few drops of your prefered essential oil, a bath bomb/bubbles if you like. if you wanna go the extra mile…add some rose petals. you can get some cheap bouquets at supermarkets.
4.put on a hair mask and wrap your hair in a bun. If you don’t have one you can use conditioner instead or any oil…I have tried them all and my favourite is apricot oil.
5.remove any nail polish you have on.
6.cleanse your face with your cleanser, then exfoliate, put your face above the water pot for about ten mins and put on a clay mask or any other purifying mask of your liking.
7.if you have hydrogel eye masks put them on, if not you can use thin potato slices..they work wonders.
8.prepare a relaxing beverage…herbal tea…wine…whiskey..whatever you like.
9..soak in the bath for as long as you like.
10. exfoliate using your own diy scrub - sugar and oil.
11.lounge for hours in your towel and beverege while listening to music.
12.rub lotion or oil all over yourself and wear comfortable clothes or be comfortabelly completly naked. whatever you prefer.
13.after washing off the purifying mask i really recommend hydrating the skin with a hysrating sheet mask or raw honey.
14. DIY Mani-Pedi : soak your feet in water and a cup of vinegar for 30 minutes. while you do that file your nails and cut your cuticles then apply olive oil to them and massage them. wash your feet and file them with a pumice stone. file your toenails and apply foot cream. and paint your nails if you want. if your toenails are dry apply some olive oil and shea butter to the heels, wrap them in seran wrap and wear 2 pairs of socks and you will wake up with baby soft feet.
*i also did the korean baby foot peel mask and if you guys want ill make a post about my suprising experience.
15.apply toner to your face and follow with rosehip oil. massage your skin starting from the forhead to the neck. there are so many videos abot face massage on youtube. it’s so amazing, you’ll feel great and your ski will glow.
16.apply ½ castor oil ½ olive oil to your eyelashes and lips.
17.apply lotion to your hands.
18.just lounge and do whatever relaxes you and makes youhappy. I personally like to drink sparkling wine and reading vogue or watching an old film.
19. make sure you are hydrated and drink lots of H2O and well nourished and eating well and getting all your vitamins and minerals.
20.try to relax while listening to white noise or your favourite sound, like rain, eind, fireplace crackle, ticking clock…or any ASMR. hair brushing ASMR is my guity pleasure.
21. enjoy yourself, praise yourself. indulge. love your body and soul. no matter what you do just make sure it feels good.
