トミノの地獄
TOMINO’S HELL
Tumblr media
The cursed poem that is said to bring about misfortune if you read it aloud, yes, it’s Tomino’s Hell. Written by Saijou Yaso after the end of World War 1, it was released in 1919 in a collection of poetry known as “Sakin” (Gold Dust). It is said that the author put his feelings of loss into the poem, but many theories about the meaning of the poem have arisen over the years, the most common being that Tomino fell in love with his younger sister and lost his soul, falling through hell.
Now then, the poem goes like this:
トミノの地獄 Tomino no Jigoku
姉は血を吐く、妹(いもと)は火吐く、 Elder sister vomits blood,  younger sister’s breathing fire
可愛いトミノは 宝玉(たま)を吐く。 while sweet little Tomino just spits up the jewels
ひとり地獄に落ちゆくトミノ、 All alone does Tomino go falling into that hell,
地獄くらやみ花も無き。 a hell of utter darkness, without even flowers.
鞭で叩くはトミノの姉か、 Is Tomino’s big sister the one who whips him?
鞭の朱総(しゅぶさ)が 気にかかる。 The purpose of the scourging hangs dark in his mind.
叩けや叩きやれ叩かずとても、 Lashing and thrashing him, ah! But never quite shattering.
無間地獄はひとつみち。 One sure path to Avici, the eternal hell.
暗い地獄へ案内(あない)をたのむ、 Into that blackest of hells guide him now, I pray—
金の羊に、鶯に。 to the golden sheep, to the nightingale.
皮の嚢(ふくろ)にやいくらほど入れよ、 How much did he put in that leather pouch
無間地獄の旅支度。 to prepare for his trek to the eternal hell?
春が 来て候(そろ)林に谿(たに)に、 Spring is coming to the valley, to the wood,
暗い地獄谷七曲り。 to the spiraling chasms of the blackest hell.
籠にや鶯、車にや羊、 The nightingale in her cage, the sheep aboard the wagon,
可愛いトミノの眼にや涙。 and tears well up in the eyes of sweet little Tomino.
啼けよ、鶯、林の雨に Sing, o nightingale, in the vast, misty forest—
妹恋しと 声かぎり。 he screams he only misses his little sister.
啼けば反響(こだま)が地獄にひびき、 His wailing desperation echoes throughout hell—
狐牡丹の花がさく。 a fox peony opens its golden petals.
地獄七山七谿めぐる、 Down past the seven mountains and seven rivers of hell—
可愛いトミノのひとり旅。 the solitary journey of sweet little Tomino.
地獄ござらばもて 来てたもれ、 If in this hell they be found, may they then come to me, please,
針の御山(おやま)の留針(とめはり)を。 those sharp spikes of punishment from Needle Mountain
赤い留針だてにはささぬ、 Not just on some empty whim Is flesh pierced with blood-red pins:
可愛いトミノのめじるしに。 they serve as hellish signposts for sweet little Tomino.
—translated by David Bowles June 29, 2014
So then, do you think the poem is actually cursed, or is it just a tale of tragic loss and suffering? As always, remember to stay safe and stay true to your beliefs.

きさらぎ駅
KISARAGI STATION
Tumblr media
One of my favorite stories on the net, the story of Kisaragi Station is a chilling tale from 2chan of things that shouldn’t be. Now, I’m just copying and pasting this one from here, as the story itself is pretty straightforward. That being said, let’s begin:
Hasumi It might just be my imagination, but do you mind if I talk about something?
2chan Sure, go ahead. What happened?
Hasumi I just got on the train, but something’s off.
2chan Okay.
Hasumi It’s the train I always take to and from work, but it hasn’t stopped at any stations for about 20 minutes now. It always stops every five minutes, or at most every seven or eight, but it hasn’t stopped at all. There are currently five other people on board, but they’re all asleep.
2chan You haven’t gotten off the train yet, have you? You didn’t get on the express by mistake?
Hasumi Yeah, like you said, it’s possible I got on the wrong train. I’ll wait it out just a little longer. If anything else weird happens, I’ll come back again.
2chan First of all, why don’t you go to the front carriage and see the conductor? If he had an epileptic fit or something that would be terrible. Go and check on him!
Hasumi It still doesn’t look like we’re going to stop anywhere, so I’ll go and have a look.
The blinds or something are covering the window, so I can’t see the driver. I’m on a private railway in Shizuoka Prefecture.
2chan Did you knock on the window?
Hasumi I did, but there was no answer.
2chan Can you see outside? Can you see the names of passing stations or anything?
Hasumi After leaving the tunnel the train has started to slow down a little. We don’t usually pass through a tunnel though. It’s the train from Shin-Hamamatsu Station.
It looks like we’re about to stop.
2chan You’re not gonna get off, are you?
Hasumi We’re stopped at Kisaragi Station, but I wonder if I should get off? I’ve never seen or heard of this station before.
2chan You should get off.
No, you should stay on until the last stop.
I mean, the train should’ve started moving again by now, shouldn’t it?
Hasumi, what time did you get on the train?
Hasumi I got off. The station is empty. I got on the train around 11.40 pm, I think.
2chan I did a search for Kisaragi Station, but nothing came up… And hang on, your train’s been running for an hour now? Alright, I’m off to take a bath.
I looked for Kisaragi Station as well, but there’s nothing here.
Hasumi I think I should go back. I’ve been looking for a timetable but I can’t find anything. The train is still stopped so I wonder if it would be safer to just get back on? Well, while I was writing that I already got back on board.
2chan Are there any buildings nearby that look like they might have people? It’s cold out there, so be careful.
Hasumi I’m gonna leave the station and see if I can find a taxi. Thanks.
2chan That’s a good idea. Be careful.
I’m doubtful that you’ll easily be able to find a taxi at an empty station after the last trains have already run.
And it looks like Hasumi’s become a resident of the 2D world.
Hasumi There’s nothing here, let alone a taxi. What should I do?
2chan Go see the station attendant or a nearby police box!
Shouldn’t you call 110 for now?
Why don’t you call the taxi company?
All you can do at this point is go to the nearest convenience store.
If there’s a public phone nearby, you should look up the number of the taxi company and give them a call.
Hasumi I call my parents to come and pick me up but they don’t know where Kisaragi Station is. They said they’d look it up on the map and then come to get me, but I’m kinda scared.
2chan What happened to the others on the train? Were you the only one who got off?
Hasumi, I also tried to find Kisaragi Station on the internet, but there’s nothing here. You said you were near the Shin-Hamamatsu area, right? I’ll see if I can find anything on Yahoo.
Hasumi I went to look for a public phone but there aren’t any. The other passengers didn’t get off, so I’m alone right now. The station name is most definitely Kisaragi Station.
2chan There’s a chance you’ll find a public phone off the station grounds.
Why don’t you try leaving the station?
I just did a bit of investigating right now, and the kanji for ‘oni’ (demon) can also be read as ‘kisaragi,’ right…?
So you mean ‘Demon Station’…? That’s terrifying.
Are you a video game nerd? When I googled it, I found a video game.
Write down the previous and next stations from Kisaragi Station. Don’t say there’s nothing written there.
Hasumi What game are you talking about? There are no previous or next stations written here.
2chan Try walking back home along the tracks.
If you start running now, you can probably catch up with the train!
It’s a station, so there has to be people living around there.
Hasumi Yeah, that’s right. I was panicking, so I didn’t even notice. I’ll follow the tracks back and wait for my parents to call. I tried looking before in the Town Information part of I Mode in my phone, but it came up with some kind of error. I just wanna go home.
2chan Whether it’s a joke or not, I’m gonna work towards solving this seriously.
Hasumi There really is nothing around here. All I can see are grasslands and mountains. But if I follow the railway tracks, I think I can get home, so I’ll do my best. Thank you. You might think it’s all just one big joke, but can I come back if I run into any other problems?
2chan Of course. At any rate, take care.
Of course. Just be careful your phone doesn’t die. It’s your lifeline right now.
Don’t start walking in the wrong direction. And be careful inside the tunnel.
Can a phone even get reception in an area with nothing around? I think it would be better if you don’t move from the station…
All alone at an unmanned station on a cold night. The lights will probably turn off soon and it’ll be dark.
The railway tracks are an even darker trap. There’s a tunnel after that too, right?
And yet, it would probably be safer to spend the night at the station…
This is terribly risky.
Hasumi My father called. He had a lot of questions, but in the end we have no idea where I am, so he told me to call 110. I don’t really want to, but I’m going to give the police a call and see if they can help me…
2chan I think it would be easier for you to move around once it gets brighter…
Could you really wait there all alone at night? In some strange, unfamiliar place…
Could you pass through the tunnel all alone at night? On some strange, unfamiliar railway track…
So could you keep walking through some unfamiliar street at night in the cold?
Hasumi I tried explaining my situation the best I could to the police, but they thought it was a joke and got angry at me. I was so scared that I ended up apologising to them…
2chan Why did you apologise? You should call it a night. Go wait at the station for the first train.
What’s it like around the station? Is there anything there?
Hasumi I can hear what sounds like the beating of drums coming from far away, mixed with the sound of a ringing bell. Honestly, I don’t know what I should do anymore.
2chan Hasumi, you need to get back to the station. It’s best to return to where you were in the first place when you get lost.
It’s about to start…
Drums and bells…?
It’s probably just a festival.
Hasumi You might think I’m lying, but I’m so scared, I can’t look back. I wanna go back to the station, but I can’t turn back.
2chan Run. Whatever you do, don’t look back.
You can’t look back at the station! You’ll be taken away. Just run towards the tunnel, right now! It should be closer than you think.
Hasumi Someone just yelled out from behind me. “Hey, you can’t walk along the railway track, it’s dangerous!” I thought it might be the station attendant, so I turned around, and about 10 metres away there was the old guy with one leg standing there. Then he disappeared. I’m so scared, I can’t move.
2chan I said don’t look back. Just run.
Calm down and listen to what I have to say. Try going towards the sound of the drums. There should be people there.
Just where are you trying to send Hasumi?
That’s not it at all, Hasumi is about to be taken away. That’s why I’m saying, if she can, she should go back.
How come you could you tell it was an old guy with just one leg?
…because it’s an old guy with just one leg?
It’s probably some guy that was hit by a train and lost his leg and then died.
Hasumi I can’t walk anymore, but I also can’t run. The sound of the drums is getting closer.
2chan Just wait for morning. Once it gets brighter, it won’t be so scary.
You should have gotten back on the train.
Hasumi I’m still alive. I fell over and I’m bleeding, but I’m still holding onto the heel I broke. I don’t want to die yet.
2chan Well, it’s not like things were going to get better if you stayed in the one spot, anyway.
I think you’ll be fine if you can get through the tunnel, anyhow. When you pass through, let us know and get some help.
Hasumi I called home. My dad said he’d call the police for me, but the sound is getting closer and closer.
2chan Well, let’s just pray that sound isn’t the sound of an approaching train. Having said that, it’s probably too late for that now.
Hasumi I did my best and I’m somehow in front of the tunnel now. The name says Isanuki. The sound is getting closer, so I’m gonna gather up all my courage and try to get through. I’ll post again once I get through safely.
2chan Good luck.
This is the end. The train and the station are gone. You can’t go back. There’s no-one to follow. The sound you hear is a phantom of your own past. Run towards the tunnel. If you stop, you’ll just be stuck between worlds.
Hasumi I’ve exited the tunnel. Someone’s standing just ahead of me. Looks like doing what you guys suggested was the right answer. Thank you. I’m probably gonna be mistaken for a monster, my face is a mess of tears.
2chan Hasumi, wait! Don’t move!
Stop! It’s dangerous!
Who would be standing there at such a time? It’s too suspicious…
Hasumi Sorry for making you all worry. The person was very kind and said they would take me to the closest station. Apparently there’s a business hotel or something there. Everyone, thank you so much.
2chan Hasumi. There’s something I want to ask you, so please answer. Where are you? Can you ask that kind person the place name?
Are they really kind? They could be scarier than what’s going on here, you know.
Yeah, maybe. Anywhere, where the hell are you?!
That person is dangerous!! Why is someone on the railway tracks at this time of night? They must have run into you while disposing of a dead body or something! Run!!
Hasumi I asked where we are, but he just said ‘Hina.’ There’s no way that could be true though.
2chan Hasumi, get out of the car!
I’m sorry, Kasumi. Where is Hina?
What a strange story. So at this particular time some suspicious old guy just happened to be there to pick up a girl walking along the railway tracks…? What was he doing?
Hasumi We’ve started getting closer to the mountains now. I don’t think there’s anywhere for the car to stop, and he’s stopped talking to me entirely.
2chan There’s no reason for even a strange old dude to be up at this time.
Maybe he’s not talking to you anymore because you’re always on your phone?
Hasumi, you’re in danger. Did you tell your parents to come and get you from the tunnel?
Hasumi. Call 110. This might be the last time you ever write anything.
Hasumi My battery’s about to die. Things are looking strange, so I’m gonna try to run the first chance I get. He’s been muttering about something I can’t understand for a while now. Just so I’m ready when needs be, I’m going to make this my last post for now.
※ After this post, Hasumi was never heard from again.
And that wraps it up! As I mentioned before, this one is one of my absolute favorite stories from around the net, but maybe that’s because I’m a sucker for the whole “other world” sort of thing. Personally, I’d love to take a trip there myself and see some things that shouldn’t be. What do you think happened to Hasumi? As always, remember to stay safe and stay true to your beliefs.

TATTOOED CURSE
SNAKE AND HOLLY TATTOO
Tumblr media
This one is like a physical manifestation of survivor’s guilt, taking on the form of a tattoo that eats away at one’s soul as it spreads across the body. The main features of the tattoo are the snake, representing the yearning for lost loved ones, and the holly tree, representing one’s pain.
In one version of the story, the snake becomes a physical entity that kills the priestess, while in another it fuses with her soul and eats her heart. The stages of the curse are as follows:
The very first symptoms tend to show physically and mentally, the symptoms being:
The onset of PTSD.
Hallucinating things and people that are not there.
Physical pain.
Seeing a tattoo that slowly spreads across the body.
Talk of hearing a lullaby.
Decrease in waking hours.
Disappearance.
The following is what happens at the final stage of the curse:
Tumblr media
As is pictured above, there is nothing left of the person suffering from this curse but black soot-like marks.
Those affected by the curse describe the following in common:
Surviving a traumatic experience or alternatively, being dreamed about by someone close who talks of experiencing symptoms.
Repeating dreams of loved ones.
A dream about a cold, dark, snowy manor and following the dead inside.
Being chased by a woman covered in a tattoo.
Beginning to see the same tattoo spread across one’s body, accompanied by physical pain.
A decrease in waking hours and hallucinations while lucid.
The disappearance of said individual.
This occurs within one to two months of the onset of the symptoms and has been treated commonly as complex PTSD in most documented cases, not being taken too seriously until the final stage. Even then, no direct cause has been linked to the phenomena and it remains a mystery to this day.
This one is from the third installment of the Fatal Frame series! If you haven’t played it already, I highly recommend the games! Remember to stay safe and stay true to your beliefs.

살아있는인형
THE LIVING DOLL GAME
Tumblr media
The living doll is often compared to Hitori Kakurenbo, with the addition being that where Hitori Kakurenbo is used to invite a ghost to play with you, the Living Doll game is used to invite a spirit to kill you.
The best place I can think of to give you good information on this one would be this website, however I will do my best to describe the steps and rules required of the game.
You’ll need the following to play the game:
Two mirrors.
A human doll that is solid, not plush.
A candle.
A strand of your own hair.
Salt wrapped up in paper.
In order to play the game, the following steps must be carried out:
Place the mirrors so that they are facing each other, with the doll and lit candle both in between the two.
Wait until midnight exactly.
Point at the doll and say, “I’m giving you a new body, please forgive me,” in your native language, then shout “Let’s play!” five times.
Turn off all of the lights and go into a large room alone with your back to the door, hiding in a closet if you begin to feel like you are in danger.
Now, in order to end the game, one must do the following:
With the salt, go into the room with the candle and sit in front of the candle.
Repeat “You lose,” five times.
Put out the candle and spray yourself with salt.
Find and spray the doll with salt.
Turn on all of the lights and create a comfortable atmosphere for at least an hour.
Within three days, give the doll to a shrine or equivalent.
Now, this one sounds a lot more far-fetched than Hitori Kakurenbo, and I’m not entirely sure what the whole point of the game really is, but it sounds like fun to me.
Some things to keep in mind:
Do not attempt to play this game while under the influence.
Do not play this game with other people around.
Do not make noise and do not attempt to run away from the doll.
The game must end before sunrise or the spirit will remain.
Some say they’ve seen the doll’s face move during this game.
Remember to stay safe and stay true to your beliefs.

Elisa Lam was a 21-year-old student from Canada who was visiting Los Angeles, California, in early 2013. Unfortunately, the hotel Elisa chose to stay at—Hotel Cecil—was a notorious place for sinister happenings such as thefts, suicides, and murders. The last anyone has seen Elisa alive was on an elevator captured on surveillance. The elevator doors appeared to be malfunctioning as Elisa would push all the buttons for unknown reasons. She would continuously poke her head out of the elevator door and press herself into a corner as if hiding from someone. She would step out into the hall and began making strange gestures. Elisa then walked away from the elevator and the doors finally closed. Three weeks later, residents of the hotel complained of the water being discoloured and bitter-tasting. An employee went to inspect the water tanks on the roof and found the bloated naked body of Elisa Lam. An autopsy was done and found no trace of drugs or any other substance in her system. Her case remains unsolved, although foul play is suspected.

Julia Brown was a magic practitioner in Louisiana in the early 20th century. She was frequently visited by the townsfolk, who eventually took advantage of her power. After getting fed up, she placed a curse on the town, claiming that when she died she was going to take the town with her. Brown died in 1915, and at her funeral, a hurricane swept though and flooded the town. Many people died in the flood, and attempts to rebuild were unsuccessful.

一人隠れん坊
HIDE AND SEEK ALONE
Tumblr media
A game every horror blog covers, yes, it’s Hitori Kakurenbo, a game in which you attempt to summon spirits to play a game of hide and seek, with them taking control of a stuffed animal or doll to play with you.
It’s been said that the game is actually an attempt to summon demons, or that people who have played it have encountered such entities, thus it is recommended to keep something representing your faith into this ritual. To start, as explained by this website, one needs:
A stuffed doll with limbs - Not a human doll, as there's a huge chance the spirit will not leave it. If you have an animal doll with limbs, it can be used as well (e.g. a teddy bear).
Rice - That is enough to be used as stuffing instead of cotton for your doll. The rice is said to attract the doll.
Something from your body - Usually fingernails for the doll to represent you. This means that if you do something to do the doll, the same thing will happen to yourself. Never use someone else's body part(s), this results in the doll replacing that person instead and the game will not work correctly.
A sharp-edged object - To anger the spirit in the doll by stabbing it. Be sure NOT to use a knife/scissors, as the doll will possibly stab you with it after it finds you. So, use a pencil or needle instead. It is recommended to use a wooden toothpick.
Red thread - To sew up the hole you made in the doll, this later symbolizes blood vessels and acts as a restraint later in the game.
Saltwater or salt - This will be used later in the game to get rid of the spirit in the doll.
A bathtub with water - If your home does not have a bathtub, a basin large enough to put the doll in with water in the bathroom works too.
A very safe sanctuary/hiding spot - When it is the doll's turn to find you. If you have a room with statues and things related to your religion, it is recommended to make it as your hiding spot.
The rules for the game are as follows:
Do not play the game for more than two hours.
Do not play the game with people or animals in the house.
Do not give the doll the name of someone close to you.
Do not attempt to start the game before 3:00am.
Do not turn on any lights, excluding something like a television.
Do not attempt to leave during the game.
Do not take the game lightly while playing.
And as a general rule:
Do not attempt to contact spirits while intoxicated or under the effects of drugs.
Now then, to start the game, one must follow these steps:
1. Put together a suitable doll for the ritual. The doll needs:
To be cut open, stuffing removed and replaced with rice, given a piece of you (hair, fingernail, etc...), then stitched up again with red thread, the remainder of which is wrapped around the body of the plush.
A tub full of water prepared by 3:00am.
2. Next, the player must wait until 3:00am, at which time they must:
Take the doll into the bathroom and place it in the tub.
Repeat (all in native language) “First tagger is Y/N!” three times and drop the doll into the tub.
Go to your hiding spot and count to 10.
Proceed back into the bathroom, say “I found you!” and stab the doll with your object.
Say “Now D/N is it!” three times.
Leave the object in the doll and go to your hiding place.
Put salt water in your mouth and keep it there, or keep a cup of saltwater nearby.
Remain there until you wish to end the game.
3. In order to end the game, one must:
Exit hiding spot and locate the doll.
Spit and pour all of the saltwater on the doll and say “I win!” three times.
Turn on all lights and put salt in the corners of each room.
Dispose of the doll by burying it with salt.
Some say it’s all a hoax, I say it’s at least all good fun. Though it is highly advised to exercise caution when attempting to play any sort of game, paranormal or not. If you do not feel safe, attempt to bless the area you feel needs it the most. Stay true to your own beliefs.
