Proud D&D moment!

Okay I have to tell this story because I’m still smiling like a nerd about it!

In the Underdark we were of course ambushed by Drow. Our party was trapped inside a room carved out of a stalagtite with spider silk supspention bridges connected to three sides. Below us was a treacherous drop into a mass of giant spider webs and who knows what else.

The Drow, giant spiders, and a couple Driders were attacking from all three directions. My party had two entrances covered when I (a high elf arcane trickster rogue) see a Drow sorceress approaching toward us from the third rope bridge.

I hide and use Magical Ambush to cast Phantasmal Force on the sorcereress. She rolls at disadvantage and fails the saving throw.

I make her see a heavy iron door slam shut over the entrance to the room.

On my next turn, as she stands frustrated in front of this “solid object” blocking her way, I fire my magic bow (with advantage because she can’t see me.) I roll a Critical Hit, and add my DOUBLED sneak attack damage.

She survives by the skin of her teeth, but can’t shake the spell (she fails her second saving throw on her turn.) AND she’s stuck on the rope bridge and can’t get out of my line of fire. On my next turn, I was able to fire again with advantage and sneak attack.

She’s very dead now. And our Wizard has a nice set of +1 robes. (With a couple bloodstains on them.)

Murgah is an extremely successful adventurer. Although her wives insist they don’t need more jewels or gold, Murgah can’t help herself. She loves to see the look on their faces when she presents them with her latest haul.
