The Iris/Meri phenomenon has been crazy to watch. When I started writing back in 2021 there were no real on-site ships with SCPs, and I assumed the site would be hostile to such a thing (likely due to guides and discussion posts from 2012-2015). Now the 105/166 pairing is probably the dominant thing people talk about and write with the characters now. And these are legacy characters to boot.

SUBJECT: [REDACTED] DESIGNATION: “Apple Pie” STATUS: UNSTABLE CONDITION: CONTAINED (temporal)

Abstract:

Following the extended isolation protocol enacted after Incident ██-██, Subject “Apple Pie” was left in complete solitude for a period exceeding the safe containment threshold by [REDACTED] days. What was meant to be a behavioral dampening measure has instead resulted in a catastrophic psychological and physiological shift. The subject is no longer considered passively sentient but hyperreactive, and potentially sapient in the wrong ways.

Observation Notes:

Day 2: Subject begins pacing in exact 3-step cycles, punctuated by what appeared to be muttered jokes. No laughter followed. The room temperature dropped by [REDACTED] degrees.

Day 7: Subject has stopped eating meat rations. Instead, items are arranged in precise shapes resembling [REDACTED]. Audio logs detect whispers when no mouth is moving. We have verified: no one else is present.

Day 13: Subject begins to change form. Eyewitness accounts vary. Some report skin peeling back like pastry. Others describe limbs extending, bloated with steam, twitching erratically. One guard said the smell was “just like burnt sugar and copper.” He has not spoken since.

Day 21: The laughter returned. It did not belong to him. The cameras caught him folding into himself—jaw unhinged, voice echoing several seconds after his lips stopped moving. Multiple staff developed migraines. One screamed when they saw their own shadow wave at them. The subject has taken to scratching the walls. Not with nails, but with something underneath. We don’t know how long it’s been there.

Current Appearance:

What remains of the original body structure is... approximate. His face is fixed in a rictus smile, but the eye holes have moved—not relocated—moved. They peer from his chest, sometimes the back. What appears to be flaking crust encases most of the body, sloughing off in wet, meaty chunks that smell like orchard rot.

At least one researcher reported that it spoke in their voice. It told them to “bring a friend next time.” There was no audio recording of this interaction. We believe the subject is learning.

Conclusion:

Do not leave him alone again. He does not get lonely. He gets clever. He gets hungry.
