post-apocalyptic au idea where women act as birthing units for men, regardless of whether it’s consensual or not. where safety items to prevent pregnancy and disease are banned. where even in death, a pregnant woman cannot be laid to rest, despite the wishes of her loved ones, because she is carrying a child. where her body is a forced incubator through medicine and machine. where only once the child is cut from her womb is she finally put to rest.

Guys wait has anyone talked about this yet??

Nora named a bunch of her characters after saints and it HURTS. Here are the ones I came up with and found online. (The ones that actually seemed intentional. I doubt she named matt after the patron saint of taxes)

Saint yves of brittany — patron saint of abandoned children

Saint john the apostle — patron saint of love, loyalty, and friendship

Saint kevin of glendalough — patron saint of dublin and ravens

Saint nathanael the apostle — patron saint of butchers

Saints alexander, stephen, and christopher — martyrs

Saint alodia of huesca — a child martyr; possibly patron saint of child abuse victims and martyrs, but I can't get a straight answer

Saint nicholas of myra — patron saint of children; known for his generosity and kindness; brought children back to life

Saint andrew avellino — patron saint against sudden death (this one may be a stretch)

But, like, have there been any discussions about this yet?? Bc I haven't seen any. I've just been letting the yves+kevin ones eat away at my mind, but then I realized a BUNCH of them fit. Pretty please, if this has been talked about before, point me in the direction of those posts🙏 and if you have anything to add, any corrections, or any other saints you think fit(or religious imagery in general. I'm foaming at the mouth thinking about how neil's mom was literally named mary), I would LOVE to talk abt this w someone

i need a full jerejean flower shop/greenhouse AU SO badly

jean owns a flower shop/greenhouse where he spends most of his day caring and working on all the diff plants he's grown

one day a man with slightly wavy blonde hair with brown roots growing in, the prettiest brown eyes he's ever seen, and slightly tanned skin with freckles across his cheeks and nose walks in

he looks confused and a bit lost

they make eye contact and jeans stomach flips and heart skips a beat

jeremy smiles lightly at him and asks him about some plants (for laila and cat)

jean walks him around the greenhouse and they spend way more time together talking and discussing the different plants than they both thought

jeremy purchases what he came looking for and looks at jean longingly when he's at the door about to leave

jean hopes the man comes back soon and jeremy does

and he starts coming back more and more frequently

first with the excuse of flowers or other plants and then coming in to drop off a coffee or pastry jean happened to mention liking once

gazes lingering and longing as they chat for hours and jeremy starts helping jean water and care for the plants

jean teaching jeremy over time the diff plants, their care needed for each one, and all the facts about them

jeremy head over heels for this tall, curly black haired, grey like ocean in the early morning eyes, and intimidating at times looking man who was actually so soft, gentle, loving, and caring

cat and laila wanting to meet the mystery man that has jeremy bringing over one too many plants and flowers for their small home

eventually jean asking jeremy out and wanting to see him more and more and not just at his job

jeremys face flushed red and pinks, stuttering a bit before agreeing and giving jean his number

they start going on more dates and hanging out more often but never fully crossing the line to make it official

eventually cat and laila meeting jean and them elbowing jeremy, grinning and trying to not laugh at how the two glance and look at one another

making fun of jeremy later after jean leaves and how he's his perfect type

jean constantly giving jeremy flowers and other little gifts and the yearning growing more and more as they slowly gravitate closer and closer to one another

gardening together and hands brushing against each other, shoulders and arms lightly touching, and barely any space between them

eventually one day jean sees jeremy potting some flowers and the way the light hits his hair and eyes, the dirt left on his cheek when he tries to wipe the sweat off his face, and small smile teasing his lips as he steps back in admiration to look at his work

something in him snaps and before he knows it he's in front of jeremy, closing the distance between them

jeremy looks startled and before he can even get the chance to do anything, jeans lips are on his

jeremys lips soft, tasting like the sun and an ocean breeze

jeans lips slightly rough and chapped, but tasting slightly like the peach he'd eaten earlier

it only look jeremy a second to respond before grabbing jeans shirt in a fist and pulling him closer afraid jean would pull away

their fingers in each others hair and breathing ragged between them as they got their fill of one another after all this time

feeling like they can breathe clearly for the first time but a fire burning in both their chests as they both wanted more and more

anyways jean closed shop early that day

haha lol what do u mean andrew called kevin kevi (in every draft but the final one)… nora WDYMM . i need to know more. was this a mania drug induced nickname? if so, did andrew stop after he got clean? how did kevin feel?? to finally have a nickname that wasn’t an indicator of his inferior status… how did it feel when andrew stopped calling him that, when he found a new person to nickname? does kevin hear andrew call neil a junkie and hear kevi? was it another reminder that he’s always the second choice?

Making posts about aftg is so funny because the characters live lives of such epic proportion that I feel like I have to first name last name them. I'm not calling the self-proclaimed queen of a fictional sport kevin. That is Kevin Day. The name just has weight. Neil Josten went to great lengths to claim his damn name. Jean Moreau is taking active steps daily to shift the meaning that his name holds positively. Jeremy Knox existed for years in collective imagination, yes for his personality, but also, I'm sure, it's cause that name is just weighty.

But then there's Andrew, who is so important to the fandom that he lives in a different realm of notoriety in my head. I just say, Andrew. Like one just says Zendaya.
