What’s going to change in your rwby rewrite?

I'll be brutally honest, I have too much planned to list out here in one go and not enough fleshing out of said ideas. Though a few things I can share:

Ruby gets proper character development

Velvet Scarlatina's going to have a bit more involvement in the plot

Roman Torchwick fans are going to be really happy

Team RWBY will be at least a little more competent than in canon

It's that time again folks I've got more to update the list with:

Corresponding with the changes made to Grimm post-mortem happenings in the rewrite, the masks of the White Fang are made of ACTUAL Grimm boneplates. Some members even go out and hunt the Grimm down themselves to craft their masks

To get into specifics on one aspect of the new wordbuilding, "RWBYfications" of existing pieces of media like arcade games will be included (That dweeb mentioned earlier? Vergil Marx? He's really good at this universe's DDR)

Atlesian Knights are being replaced after the timeskip. I'd talk further on what's replacing them but that would get into more spoilers than necessary

Project: Journals Chapter 2 Has Entered the Writing Stage

28 reads and almost a month later, Project: Journals' second chapter has left preplanning and is now entering the writing stage. Robbery, enrollment, landing strategy (or lack thereof), all in one chapter to get the plot moving along proper. Unfortunately yes this is another "retelling existing events" chapter but what can ya do Despite the slow start, I genuinely hope that this project of mine can succeed in one way or another. Apologies for the severe delay, motivation hit an all time low after the brief hiatus had to take hold as I figured out how the fuck to even remotely grieve. This is the part where I'm supposed to give a Chapter 1 release date so uh...

Chapter 1 Delayed

I... wasn't anticipating the thought of having to delay the release of Chapter 1, but due to factors outside of my control and the passing of someone I considered a friend, I need time to sort myself out prior to release. Hey so I just remembered some other things I can share about what's changing:

I'm going to try making Faunus anatomy more consistent by making it make more sense than just random arbitrary factors

some dweeb named Vergil Marx is getting added into the story from the start (I promise he'll have more purpose than "woah look a new side character" later on)

Content that was cut out for time constraints is being restored, with some recycled content from later volumes being put back into their original volumes (i.e. Yang's fight with Adam during the Fall of Beacon in Vol. 3 will be extended for story purposes and based on the cut animations that were recycled for the Vol. 6 fight)

Grimm have a way to be killed without dissipating into mist, because I feel that concepts like Grimm anatomy studies and the occasional taxidermized Grimm were never properly explained when every Grimm we see die just turns into black mist

A little bit of worldbuilding to make the world of Remnant feel more alive so to speak, at least within the kingdoms and protected cities.

CHAPTER 1 COMING SOON

Hookay so after roughly 6 months of writing this thing due to several bouts of procrastination and writer's block Chapter 1 of Project: Journals is getting ready to ship out proper. After I get proper feedback from my beta readers on what to change and where to improve, the intended release window is within the next few weeks.

The first chapter isn't going to be very lore-heavy or action focused, it's generally meant to be a prologue of sorts for several characters and admittedly about two thirds of it is just retelling the Team RWBY character trailers with slight changes. Though there are attempts at prologues for Jaune and Pyrrha in there too, so that's something. Point is, Chapter 1 is almost ready. As the hastily cobbled text above in the blog description states, I am an amateur writer and artist under the screenname JournalMarker (or journalerprojectmanager), and am the primary writer and organizer for Project: Journals.

Project: Journals, for better or for worse, is a project that aims to gradually rewrite the story of the webseries RWBY by RoosterTeeth due to my personal dissatisfaction with how the later volumes played out (especially towards the end of Volume 8...) and in all honesty is a project being fueled by the greatest motivator of all: Spite. The current state of the rewrite has a slow but gradual change to the flow of the series, with few changes towards the start and greater changes towards the end. Admittedly, it's little more than a glorified fanfiction. This blog will mainly serve as a repository for art and writing related updates to the rewrite and occasional shitposts. The story itself can be found here on AO3 and is an active work in progress (Currently at 1 chapter so far). Not much else I can share just yet, incomplete works and confidentiality and all that.
