Hi! Where do u find the time to write in ur journal? What is ur favorite time of day to do it?

Hello! I’m not sure when this was sent so hopefully you still see my response!

I only really journal when the mood takes me to be honest, I don’t like making a strict habit of journaling - I think it ruins the fun. Mostly I would say I tend to journal in the morning, as often times my journal becomes more like a to do list. Sometimes I just need somewhere to write down my plan for the day, and before I know it I’m journaling - and other times I feel like journaling and before I know it I’m writing a list for the day. hello tumblr! its been years since my last post so im not sure anyone remembers me, but throughout that time my journaling never stopped. Heres some bits from my current journal, which is my 14th journal to date.

I started journaling when I was 17, I'm now 22, 5 years have passed - 14 journals completed (or almost), Ive graduated with a degree, moved out of my childhood home and back in again, got a job and a global pandemic hit.

I'm not sure whether this post will mark this blogs revival or not, but I thought I'd pop in and say hello for a moment of nostalgia.

I get my journals from all over the place, some are gifts, some Ive bought myself. The yellow one I got from Paperchase which I have got quite a lot of my journals from before! Would definetily recommend!

Hi! So sorry it took me so long to respond to this I remember initially I wrote out a rlly long answer but then tumblr glitched and I lost it all 😞. I meant to come back to it later but I must have forgot.But absolutely! Journaling for me is ALL about making mistakes. My personal opinion is that your journal should be one of (if not the only) the places in your life where you are COMPLETELY free from judgement. You are allowed to be messy and "ugly" and express all your imperfect emotions on the page in whatever way that suits you. I understand that this can be a hard concept to grasp if you are a perfectionist artist. I think the reason I find it so easy to have no fear in my journal is mostly because although I don't mind about having an "ugly" journal - I tend to get very perfectionist-y and sacred when it comes to my sketchbook. So if you use your journal for art, I understand your need for everything to be pretty or aesthetic. The want for everything to be good. Honestl though there is beauty in mess too. Some of the journal pages I hated the most have been my most successful on tumblr and I think that's because people resonate with the truth in them. On a more practical side however, it's important to just start. If you make a mistake there are lots of ways to work around that and end up with an amazing piec of art - and that's part of the fun! Instead of just using an eraser or ripping out of the page some of the techniques I use are: painting over it - this can be really good as having a coloured base can be potentially more interesting than just using the white of the paper. Lots of artist like the sticky note method - putting sticky notes over mistakes and drawing on top. Hmm, what else? Just general collage - cutting up magazines or bits of paper/ memorabilia and sticking them in can make for an interesting page but also a more textured and fun base to work on top of. Pressing flowers is great too. I like to put EVERYTHING in my journal - some people like to have categorised ones like : dream journal , bullet journal, morningpages journal - but I prefer to shove it all in one. This technique helps you become less precious with it also - I wrote my shopping lists, to do lists, all my rants, my hopes my dreams, what I want for dinner - literally everything goes in there. Wow, that was a long answer. I really really hope it helped and it wasn't just a long ramble. Happy journaling!
