One of the craziest theories I have is:

in some way, the capital influenced the games and because of that, they would be able to favor or benefit a specific tribute. Looking at some details of the games, especially Haymitch's, you can see that if there weren't any birds, Maysilee would most likely win the games.

So, this led me to think that, perhaps, the capital manipulated some moments so that the 12th tributes would be killed. Could it be that they really didn't have any "strong" tributes or did the games not allow them to be strong? This only makes more sense in my head when I realize that 12th was the district that was most against the capital.

Haymitch to Effie: Can you pass me the milk, mommy?

Katniss:....

Peeta: I will take this one. Mommy?

Haymitch: Oh. Yeah. I have gotten into the habit of calling Effie mommy around the baby.

Katniss: The baby is sleeping, Haymitch...

My hc is that while Haymitch and Ktniss would be talking about the Games, Effie and Peeta would talk about cooking and baking, and sometimes, they would even bake something for the other two

Effie learned to live in the way that Haymitch needed her to. Not to please him or to make it easy. She did it because she wanted, and because she loved him

Haymitch takes a deep breath: Well, my birthday is on reaping day and...

Katniss: that's not what he mea...

Effie putting her hand on her chest: silence, girl, let him continue

after Haymitch tells his whole life story since the first reaping day

Peeta tearing up a little: I just wanted to know about the geese, now I'm traumatized.

in my head, Haymitch never stopped loving Lenore. He just understood that the love was, now, the grief of her.

Then, after the pain and the guilt for her death, he was able to fall all over again. Cause effie never gave up on him, and that was all he wanted, someone that would care.
