there's no denying the fact that Congo benefits from the romanticism and fetishization of western attitudes towards Africa in terms of drawing an audience, but it's also interesting to see how Crichton turns some of that back onto the reader partway through in terms of talking quite frankly about how these same western attitudes distort how things like indigenous uprisings or ritual (or mundane) cannibalism get interpreted by outsiders.

Some dinosaur studies for the scenes I worked on in Jurassic World Chaos Theory-- these were to figure out good shorthands to use for storyboards. You can see I was working off our old pachyrhino boss design, and that I also looked at some triceratops to figure out how to draw the pachyrhino head because there wasn't a whole lot of other reference I could find at the time that looked like our design. The parasaurolophus are particular favorites of mine, so I was excited to have a scene with them. You can also tell which allosaurus render I referenced haha

a post-doc was doing a guest seminar at my institute and at the beginning of his presentation he was explaining why he chose birds for his evolutionary analysis - so he said "well first of all, because birds are the best and most interesting animals and it's fun to study them" and a few professors in the room gave him a very serious nod
