Beast Beneath The Moonlight

Some days,

I wonder how it feels, 

To bathe in pure moonlight.

For I’ve been told I’ll drown in light,

And I should hide in darkness, away from sight.

For dangers unknown, to appear bright.

Under the moonlight.

Some days,

The moonlight is my Pandora’s box.

I inch towards the light,

Then I remember you told me that I would drown.

Drown in light.

“People who are born in the darkness do not deserve light nor life.” 

You told me as a I cower in fright.

I didn’t dare to fight.

But if I open the box, and bathe in light.

Would I release dangers unknown? 

Or release a small shimmer of hope? 

Under the moonlight.

One day,

I opened the box.

I stood beneath the moonlight.

I gasped,

It was beautiful, 

The soft glow and amourous light.

So welcoming,

I carefully reach towards the moon, 

It embraced me.

I smile softly beneath the moonlight.

It seemed strange.

Okay, so I was thinking about how Dazai treated/trained Atsushi vs. Akutagawa. And it got really long.

Akutagawa

The Port Mafia is based on taking. Snatching something, even people’s lives, and making it your own, no matter what the cost is. They are violent people.

Dazai was brought up in an environment like this and wasn’t taught to be warm and loving. He wasn’t trained to be so towards others, either.

When he sees Akutagawa, he knows he’ll belong in the Port Mafia perfectly because of his nature. Akutagawa lived in the slums, at the bottom of the bottom, was vicious and stopped at nothing to get what he needed for himself and those around him.

To get someone like Akutagawa to join the Port Mafia, Dazai knows violence as reparations is best. So he kills the men that murdered Akutagawa’s friends (which what kind of oddly murderous-romantic-gesture is that?) to coerce Akutagawa into being his subordinate.

In all honesty, Dazai could have forced Akutagawa, he has the power, but he doesn’t.

Posting this on Tumblr because I know the people I don’t want reading this won’t see it.

This “safe at home” doesn’t sit with me right.. mentally. Yes I’m keeping others safe, I’m safe from Covid - but I’m not safe from what’s within my home. I’m isolating with my family during this pandemic, but I’m also isolating with my abuser(s). And I know a lot of you out there are too, and I’m so sorry. These current events are traumatic for sure - but being contained in an environment with people who make you feel unsafe, an environment where you hold past trauma is an incredibly hard way of coping (even in general) with trauma WITHIN trauma.

I can’t escape from the loud noises; the yelling, the cursing, the banging, the slamming. I can’t escape from their voices. I can’t escape from the flashbacks that I’m experiencing more than normal. The only way I can block it all out is through music, sitting outside. But it’s the evenings that are the worst. I do not feel safe at home. I do not have the freedom that I used to - being able to escape when I sensed danger.

But I know that I’m not alone, I’m not the only person who is trapped with someone who hurts me, who makes me feel unsafe, who invalidates my feelings, who makes me feel uncomfortable in my own skin. You are not the only person who’s trapped.

I wish I could give advice on how to cope, but even I’m at a loss. Cling onto what keeps you going. You can survive this again.

I’ve seen a lot of posts on my dash tonight about users who are threatening suicide, with other Tumblr members posting in effort to try to get ahold of them. I think you all should see this:

IF THERE IS EVER A TUMBLR USER WHO HAS POSTED A GOOD-BYE MESSAGE, SUICIDE NOTE, VIDEO, OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS POST.

1. Scroll to the top of your dashboard.

2. See the circular question mark icon at the top? It’s the third one over from your home symbol. Click on that, and a screen similar to the one in the picture will come up.

3. Where you can type in questions, the box with the magnifying glass at the top, type in the word “suicide.”

4. Click on the first link that shows up. It should say, “Pass the URL of the blog on to us.”

5. Type in the user’s URL and tell Tumblr admin that the user is contemplating suicide and has posted a message indicating that they are going through with it or will be attempting. Hit send! Tumblr administration will perform a number of actions to contact the user and take the necessary steps to prevent the suicide.

TUMBLR: THIS COULD SAVE A USER’S LIFE. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE SUICIDE THREATS.
