Never forget the ignorant and sheepish behavior of Americans after 9/11. The hypocrisy is mind blowing... A country built terrorist acts, flight a war against terrorism while being terrorists to their own population smh #9/11

#AfterSeptember11 trended on Twitter today. So real. White supremacy manifests in so many sinister ways. These tweets paint a vivid picture.

I think many people, especially from other cultures, just don’t understand the role hair plays in Black women’s lives. I can now transform the energy surrounding my hair into something way more productive. Now that [my hair is] growing back, I’m kind of in that in-between stage. Previously, I would have said, “I’m straightening it again; it’s just becoming too much work.” But I think the key is to find styles that give me flexibility.

Flyy Girl
My TL on my Facebook has been lit with the news of Sanaa Lathan to play Tracy in the movie adaptation of Omar Tyree’s urban classic Flyy Girl. I can’t wait for this movie to come out. If you scroll down, you’ll read the post of a poem written by the main character at the end of the book. It’s one of my favorite poems, and Flyy Girl is one of my favorite books. I’ve read all 3 books, but the original is the best. I hope Hollywood does it justice!

Taking Care of Your Hair after Protective Styling
I took out my braids, and washed my hair last night. The growth is amazing. Since I had a lot of build, and my hair is still a little week from the last "protective" style I did, I decided to put in an argon oil, sea kelp, and shea butter masque after using Cantu Shea Butter Cleansing Shampoo. I left the masque on for about 10-15 minutes and then used As I Am Coconut Co-Wash Conditioner. This is my favorite co-wash (smells sooo yummy), and leaves my hair extra soft and manageable. Before going to bed, I twisted down my hair with a mixture of Trader Joe's cold-pressed organic coconut oil and some raw honey.
Benefits of coconut oil: great at moisturizing dry hair, prevents hair breakage and split ends, stimulates hair growth, softens hair, and adds shine.
Benefits of honey: Stimulates hair growth, adds moisture making hair soft, promotes hair growth, and prevents dandruff
This morning, I washed it out wish cold water, using a Denman brush to detangle my hair (mainly the back). Sectioning my hair in 6 parts, I finger combed in some of Cantu's Leave-in Conditioner (did i mention how much i love their products? smells awesome!). I then added a mixture of coconut oil and grape-seed oil through my hair and let air dry.
My hair feels super light weight. It's shiny, curly, and healthy!

I loved this look. Think of putting it in again another two weeks. It's always good to give your hair a break between braids.

Protective styling is cute, fun, and great for your hair as long as it's not too tight or too heavy. A couple months back, I did a style with Havana twists that was cute but too heavy. As a result, I lost a lot of hair that I spent all Summer and some, growing back. This winter, I did this style, which was super light and has grown my hair wonderfully

Most natural shampoo recipes are not pH balanced which can lead to scalp issues. This is a super simple and frugal recipe for an all natural homemade pH balanced shampoo recipe.

This seems to be the common recipe amongst natural hair bloggers/vloggers for an easy DIY clarifying shampoo. I would just add that you should rinse it out with cold water.

Maximum Curl Definition Routine
I got ultimate curl definition yesterday following this simple regiment:
step 1: protein mask
1 egg, 1/4 cup mayo, 1 tbsp oil oil, 1/4 cup argon & Shea butter conidtioner
mix it all together and apply to hair while dry. Saturate your hair with it, place a plastic cap over it and leave on for 30-40mins. rinse with cold water! (eggs will cook if you use hot water)
step 2: tea rinse
1 black tea bag, 2 1/2 cups of water
boil water with tea bag in pot for 2-3mins (not too dark as caffeine will have the opposite effect and stop hair growth). let water cool and then saturate hair with rinse. place a plastic cap on, wrap in towel for 15-20mins. rinse with cool water.
step 3: co-wash
use your favorite conditioner. finger detangle under water.
step 4: rosemary rinse
1/4 cup rosemary, 2 1/2 cups water.
boil rosemary in water. strain. let cool . saturate hair with rinse and continue finger detangling.leave in, do not rinse out.
step 5: honey leave in conditioner
quarter size amount of your favorite conditioner (i use argon & shea butter conditioner), quarter size amount of honey
i mix together in palm of hands and apply from roots to tips. make sure to get the most on tips of the hair. leave in hair.
step 5: apply oil
1 tbsp olive oil, 1tbsp coconut oil
mix together and apply to tips of hair mainly. work through roots.
*My curls were super defined, soft, and extra shiny. The moisture stayed in my hair all day. Normally I have to hydrate my hair twice a day. There was no need with this routine.

Curry Leaves & Coconut Oil
Out of all the DIY haircare recipes to fight breakage (and trust me there's a lot out there), this one caught my eye. 2 ingredients I love to work with: curry and coconut.
This is what you do: boil the curry leaves and coconut oil together until a black residue begins to form. *Careful not to fry the leaves! Then take the residue and apply it to your hair.
This easy combo promotes hair growth and reduces breakage. Use twice week!
