I genuinely can't believe when people say Sasuke was too edgy and mean. No. That boy should've been MUCH more mean and edgy. Him telling Sakura she's annoying is nothing, him calling Naruto an loser is also nothing. This boy had his whole clan, which means close AND extended family, killed in one night. By one person that he trusted the most. Already enough to be justified in literally anything you say. And then later on that same brother comes back and tortures you some more. And you end up in coma. You wake up, and your Sensei starts speaking some "revange isn't good" bullshit. Then later on in life, you find out that not only was massacre a government ordered genocide, but they also GROOMED your brother into doing it. And then used him as a scapegoat. So naturally you go and kill that guy who ordered genocide of your clan. You kill his ass, then your old teammates show up, chick that's saying she loves you tries to kill you. Your supposed best friend can't take a hint and leave you alone. Your Sensei is again taking bullshit about "going down the dark path".

And this is not mentioning all the other bullshit my boy had to go trough.

All of this combined, and it's unreasonable that he didn't have even more crash outs. After all this shit he should've been genuinely unhinged and high-key insane.

I’ve become sappy or something so here’s another JuuSasu bit so you can feel sappy too. -- -- --

Juugo is reaching out, hand inching hesitantly closer as if he wants to take Sasuke’s hand but isn’t sure if he should. It's so subtle it seems like an accident, something Juugo is doing without realizing but Sasuke notices. He’ll always notice.

Even as he’s caught in conversation with Suigetsu he feels the gravity of Juugo moving towards him, closer and closer until he feels the physical pull in his chest. In his whole body to respond.

He’s still talking with Suigetsu but all he can think about, all he can feel is Juugo's presence beside him. His existence so close and tangible. Sasuke wonders how long he'll be able hold back and then thinks that maybe it's not worth it to try. Maybe it's alright if he stops trying to ignore the swelling tug inside of him. If Juugo is reaching for him then it must be alright if he reaches back. He puts his hand out, easily, naturally. He slips his pinky over Juugo’s and then it’s there.

The warm feeling in his whole body that affirms that this is how it was meant to be; that this is where he undeniably belongs.

It feels as if he and Juugo were cut from the same material and carved into separate beings but had always been intended to be rejoined into completion.

Juugo’s fingers immediately curl around his. There is no surprise, no question. It’s an instinct for Juugo too and that assures Sasuke further. They both feel the same way.

Sasuke brings their hands under the table--to be out in the open right now would make this moment cheap--and spreads his fingers, waiting for Juugo’s hand to come over his and then keeping his fingers spread until Juugo has woven his own fingers between Sasuke’s.

They fit naturally, perfectly and the warmth in Juugo’s hand feels like it’s reassuring him that they’re both choosing this.

That they’re holding hands on purpose, sitting closer together on purpose. That both of them want whatever it is they can be when they’re together.

Suigetsu is still talking and Sasuke sits comfortably against the crook of Juugos body, hands locked together until it’s long past over.

Juugo’s warmth is his, Juugo’s presence is his. And it fills him with a gentle swell. This is what belonging is. This is what it means to love.

Just a little bit of something I wrote a while ago. Imagine that this is set after the war, when the Shinobi world is in the middle of getting its act cleaned up *cough*reformed*cough* and Taka is left to do peaceful things. (hopefully that's all the context you need, I should write out a timeline or something at some point idk)

“It’s a little late to be out”

Soft footsteps on the rooftop and a particular shifting of weight in each step behind him signal to Sasuke that Juugo is approaching. 

Sasuke leans back, resting his weight on his hands behind him, palms on the smooth tiles. It’s his way of inviting Juugo to come sit with him.

The taller nin slides down into a sitting position next to him.  It’s dark but Sasuke closes his eyes.  He’s can feel the earthiness of Juugos chakra rolling off of him and he wonders if it’s because he and Juugo are connected in a small way and if the reason he can almost taste the metallic ozone that tingles in this jaw is because he was infused with some of Juugos DNA in a sick experiment and then again by Juugo’s own choice to save Sasuke’s life.

He swallows hard.  Does Juugo feel him in the same way?  Sasuke will never ask

It’s so late it’s early, and the town around them has gone completely silent.   He was awake to see the last stream of stragglers on their way home from the bars, all of them walking in loose lines as they head back to their various homes, some alone and some with others.  That was at least half an hour ago.

“Can’t sleep?”  

Sasuke opens his eyes.  He hears what Juugo is really asking in the way his voice goes low and soft. 

“It’s a nice out tonight” There were no nightmares that night but sleep hadn’t come either. In the end he’d gone outside to breathe again.  He had been fine.  He was more than fine now even though his chest still ached.

Juugo nods and looks up at the sky.  There is no moon tonight. Only hundreds of pinpricks of light scattered above them. “I haven’t seen stars like these in a while”.  Juugo speaks in awe, his voice a little breathy and Sasuke breaks his eyes away from him and looks up.  

The stars are beautiful, far more vivid and vastly outnumbering Konoha even on the clearest of nights.  Just from where they’re sitting he can almost see the shape of the river running through the sky, the one his mother used to tell him about right before bed.

They sit for several minutes, staring up at the sky and soaking in the cool night air.

“I used to spend whole nights staring at the sky”. Juugo finally speaks.  His words are measured, careful.  It’s how Sasuke knows he’s hearing something Juugo has never mentioned to anyone else.  He waits for Juugo to go on, knowing that even if he stays silent Juugo will know that he’s listening.

“It always— it always helped me feel like I wasn’t alone”

There’s another long pause and Sasuke turns ever so slightly towards the other man, waiting for the thought to continue.  Juugo was always so careful with important things.

Juugo shifts positions and it brings him into Sasuke’s space. “I haven't been out in a while”. And in that statement Sasuke hears everything Juugo doesn’t say

Have you read Chibi Sasuke Sharingan Legend? It has some great Team Taka moments, even though it's a gag. I wish we had gotten this dynamic in the original series. But I think Kishimoto wanted Sasuke to have bonds with Team7 only. Even though his dynamics with Team Taka were healthy bcoz they never forced him to act a certain way and he was comfortable with them. It makes me sad that canonically Sasuke isn't friends with Team Taka. Now I am just living in delusion that sasuke is living peacefully with team taka somewhere far away from that fascist village 🙂

I haven't! I was too scared off by the gag bit haha but if it has good Taka moments then I might need to go get myself a copy. I feel you on this, the teeny tiny crumbs of friendship between Sasuke and Taka we do get to see are so few and far between and most of it has to be extrapolated and can only be caught if you're really really looking for it. . . Taka had so much potential to be absolutely everything and absolutely were sidelined and I'm still crying about it. Don't worry about what's canon or isn't though, I always like to say nothing is canon after the five Kage summit and before that is hit and miss. We take what we like and never look back 😆 (and if that makes us delusional then let's be delusional together)

Team Taka and their favorite spring activities.

because it's getting to be that time of year.

Karin: Feeding the ducks. 'you like hanging around them because they're as loud as you are' Suigetsu teases but Karin doesn't care. She saves all the stale bread crust in a bag and brings it with her everywhere so she can stop and give every flock of ducks she passes a snack. The ducks near the lake expect her now and when they see her they all honk happily, hanging around her even after all the crumbs are gone. They keep her company when she reads.

Juugo: Everyone knows Juugo likes to garden. So really it shouldn't be a surprise that as soon as winter hints at letting up he starts planting seeds and planning for what he's going to grow that year. He always plants tomatoes (of course he does), but everything else he plants varies. Sometimes he wants to try something new, sometimes he plants extra flowers. He especially likes marigolds because the warm golden smell of the blossoms and crispy minty scent of the leaves is so comforting well into Autumn. His happy place is surrounded by plant pots with dirt up to his elbows.

Suigetsu: Suigetsu loves the beach so winter for him is hell. As soon as the first sign of the spring sun peeks out from the winter clouds he’s heading to the beach, sunscreen and towel in hand ready to sit in the sun and just look at the water (because spring is still too cold for a swim, Sasuke tries to remind him). On the really nice days he wades into the surf up to his knees.

Sasuke: Sasuke going on walks isn’t new to anyone, it’s kind of his thing. So everyone notices when he stops going out as much in the winter, and everyone notices again when he starts being gone for long periods of time as soon as the days start getting just a little bit longer. What no one knows is that he’s on the lookout for cats that may need some care after the cold months. Generally speaking, when spring comes around he starts spending more time outside. Whether that’s to sit on the balcony and read, or because he fell asleep on the veranda (while keeping a gardening Juugo company).

Sasuke and Neji rival things in an AU where Konoha isn’t a giant turd and the Hyuuga clan is not toxic and the Uchiha are alive and well.

First off these two are petty as hell. The whole thing started when they met at an important function the Uchiha and Hyuuga had to attend and it’s been going strong ever since.

They genuinely hated each other at first because they were both prodigy children with insecurity issues (such is life when you’re young and have a sibling/cousin that’s The Heir and you’re not. No matter how nice your family is it still gets to you) but as they got older and more adjusted the acid melted away and now they do it for fun.

Sasuke’s phone contact for Neji is ‘Hygge’ (yes, the Danish word) because that’s what it autocorrected to when he first typed it in and he’s never fixed it. Hinata’s name is spelled correctly.

It doesn’t stop in his phone contacts though, anytime Sasuke texts Neji he’ll address him by his last name and the phone will autocorrect. 99% of the messages he sends start something like ‘hey Hygge’

Neji didn’t know Sasuke’s first name for the longest time (he’d forgotten and when they were first introduced Sasuke hadn’t bothered to give his name first) and so he’s only ever referred to him as ‘Uchiha’.

His contact for Sasuke is ‘Uchiha #2’ which frustrates Sasuke to no end

Both of them were really bad at math in the first few years of the academy but started studying really hard to outdo each other.

Everyone knows Sasuke hates sweets so every birthday Neji sends him a giant box of confectionery chocolates and assorted cookies.

One year for Halloween Sasuke left a giant pumpkin carved to look like Neji’s face by the front gate of the Hyuuga mansion. Neji didn’t find out until an esteemed guest commented on it. It still gets brought up at family dinners and everyone has a good laugh because Neji hates pumpkins.

The worst part about their rivalry, at least for Neji, is that Sasuke is a whole year younger than him which means any spiteful feelings Neji has towards Sasuke carries the same energy as an adult getting into a bickering match with a nine year old.

As a group, I like to think they like to cuddle ❤️❤️

Karin: she's probably the most organized one of the group. Has everything color-coded. She probably has a bunch of cute organizers and stuff

Suigetsu: Probably impulse buys things. Once saw a shark onesie and bought it without as much as glancing at the price.

Juugo: Is great at gardening. He has a small garden with a few flowers and probably something like a strawberry bush. Gardening helps him clear his mind and de-stress.

Sasuke: Secretly likes pop music. Everyone thinks he's into rock or classical music. He plays along knowing damn well that what's blasting through his headphones most of the time is something like California Girls or Espresso
