Karin: Feeding the ducks. 'you like hanging around them because they're as loud as you are' Suigetsu teases but Karin doesn't care. She saves all the stale bread crust in a bag and brings it with her everywhere so she can stop and give every flock of ducks she passes a snack. The ducks near the lake expect her now and when they see her they all honk happily, hanging around her even after all the crumbs are gone. They keep her company when she reads.

Juugo: Everyone knows Juugo likes to garden. So really it shouldn't be a surprise that as soon as winter hints at letting up he starts planting seeds and planning for what he's going to grow that year. He always plants tomatoes (of course he does), but everything else he plants varies. Sometimes he wants to try something new, sometimes he plants extra flowers. He especially likes marigolds because the warm golden smell of the blossoms and crispy minty scent of the leaves is so comforting well into Autumn. His happy place is surrounded by plant pots with dirt up to his elbows.

Suigetsu: Suigetsu loves the beach so winter for him is hell. As soon as the first sign of the spring sun peeks out from the winter clouds he’s heading to the beach, sunscreen and towel in hand ready to sit in the sun and just look at the water (because spring is still too cold for a swim, Sasuke tries to remind him). On the really nice days he wades into the surf up to his knees.

Sasuke: Sasuke going on walks isn’t new to anyone, it’s kind of his thing. So everyone notices when he stops going out as much in the winter, and everyone notices again when he starts being done for long periods of time as soon as the days start getting just a little bit longer. What no one knows is that he’s on the lookout for cats that may need some care after the cold months. Generally speaking, when spring comes around he starts spending more time outside. Whether that’s to sit on the balcony and read, or because he fell asleep on the veranda (while keeping a gardening Juugo company).

Sasuke and Neji rival things in an AU where Konoha isn’t a giant turd and the Hyuuga clan is not toxic and the Uchiha are alive and well.

First off these two are petty as hell. The whole thing started when they met at an important function the Uchiha and Hyuuga had to attend and it’s been going strong ever since.

They genuinely hated each other at first because they were both prodigy children with insecurity issues (such is life when you’re young and have a sibling/cousin that’s The Heir and you’re not. No matter how nice your family is it still gets to you) but as they got older and more adjusted the acid melted away and now they do it for fun.

Sasuke’s phone contact for Neji is ‘Hygge’ (yes, the Danish word) because that’s what it autocorrected to when he first typed it in and he’s never fixed it. Hinata’s name is spelled correctly.

It doesn’t stop in his phone contacts though, anytime Sasuke texts Neji he’ll address him by his last name and the phone will autocorrect. 99% of the messages he sends start something like ‘hey Hygge’

Neji didn’t know Sasuke’s first name for the longest time (he’d forgotten and when they were first introduced Sasuke hadn’t bothered to give his name first) and so he’s only ever referred to him as ‘Uchiha’.

His contact for Sasuke is ‘Uchiha #2’ which frustrates Sasuke to no end

Both of them were really bad at math in the first few years of the academy but started studying really hard to outdo each other.

Everyone knows Sasuke hates sweets so every birthday Neji sends him a giant box of confectionery chocolates and assorted cookies.

One year for Halloween Sasuke left a giant pumpkin carved to look like Neji’s face by the front gate of the Hyuuga mansion. Neji didn’t find out until an esteemed guest commented on it. It still gets brought up at family dinners and everyone has a good laugh because Neji hates pumpkins.

The worst part about their rivalry, at least for Neji, is that Sasuke is a whole year younger than him which means any spiteful feelings Neji has towards Sasuke carries the same energy as an adult getting into a bickering match with a nine year old.

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

As a group, I like to think they like to cuddle ❤️❤️

Karin: she's probably the most organized one of the group. Has everything color-coded. She probably has a bunch of cute organizers and stuff

Suigetsu: Probably impulse buys things. Once saw a shark onesie and bought it without as much as glancing at the price.

Juugo: Is great at gardening. He has a small garden with a few flowers and probably something like a strawberry bush. Gardening helps him clear his mind and de-stress.

Sasuke: Secretly likes pop music. Everyone thinks he's into rock or classical music. He plays along knowing damn well that what's blasting through his headphones most of the time is something like California Girls or Espresso

JuuSasu ‘sparks when skin brushes skin’ for the prompt thing

oh goodness Hi. And thank you for waiting SO long for me to actually get back to you with this. I honestly love this trope a lot so I ended up second guessing my ideas way too much (because I needed it to be the perfect) but I think I finally landed on something good. I really hope you enjoy it and thank you as always for messaging me <3 <3 . . .

Sasuke reaches to adjust the bandage at the same time Juugo moves to tug at it once more it and their hands collide.  

It’s a complete accident, Juugo's hands closing over Sasuke’s and his fingers brushing across Sasuke’s knuckles and it’s not the first time they’ve ever had skin contact but this time it feels like an electric shock and Sasuke pulls his hand back, his reflex to protect himself is strong.  

His whole body is tingling as if a million tiny fireworks had been set off under his skin. He draws in a shaky breath to steady himself. His face has gone warm without his permission. His nerves are a shower of sparks.

But he needs to be normal about this.

He swallows and when he finally raises his eyes he looks up into eyes the color of warmed honey. It's a miracle Juugo can't hear his heartbeat.

“Sorry”. Juugo whispers.  But there’s a breathiness to his voice that sets the hair on the back of Sasuke’s neck on edge and makes him forget how to speak.

Sasuke shakes his head to signal that it’s fine, that he’s not bothered by it because Juugo has touched him so many times and it was never weird before.  And Juugo.  Juugo smiles. The small, cautious smile that moves the corners of his mouth just so and softens his eyes and it’s more a smile of relief but it makes the pounding in Sasuke’s chest worse.  

“I’ll fix it”

In the scattered sparks Sasuke hadn’t even noticed that the bandage had become displaced--surely as a result of him pulling back so fast— and that the gash on his leg was partially exposed again.

Sasuke doesn’t trust himself to speak so he has no choice but to watch as Juugo reaches out again and starts adjusting the bandage.

The bandage isn't smooth. Juugo has been working on it for the past 15 minutes. carefully spreading it and winding it and gently pulling it, trying to get it as comfortable as he can for Sasuke. He had offered to use his abilities to fix the wound but Sasuke had refused, assuring that it wasn't serious enough to waste chakra on. It wouldn’t be wasting, Juugo had come so close to saying but had kept quiet and pulled out the medicine kit instead.

Leg wounds are always the hardest to bandage properly and Juugo can tell Sasuke is getting tired from being in the same position for so long.

Juugo winds the bandage one more time and then snips off the edge, setting the scissors down before carefully tucking the raw edge under the rest of the material.  His fingers brush against Sasuke’s leg and Juugo feels him tense.

He pulls his hand back “does it hurt??” Sasuke isn’t looking at him but shakes his head and Juugo exhales.

His heart is pounding more than it should, the idea of being this close to Sasuke setting him on some sort of edge. Concentrating on treating the wound had taken his mind off of it but now he feels like a live wire has been threaded through him.

He takes a deep breath to steady himself and when he reaches out to make sure the edge of the bandage is secure his fingers close over Sasuke’s. It’s only a moment of contact before Sasuke’s hand jerks out from under him but Juugo feels the jolt go through his whole body.

It feels like sparks dancing under his skin. It feels like being set on fire. He swallows. He must have jostled the wound, causing Sasuke discomfort.  Juugo immediately feels bad.  He has no oxygen left in his lungs but he needs to focus. “Sorry” he whispers, but his voice doesn’t come out quite right.  It’s too breathy, too airy.  He hopes Sasuke doesn’t notice.  Sasuke shakes his head, silently assuring that no, he’s not hurt and when he does Juugo can’t stop the smile of relief that relaxes his face. He’ll deal with his pounding heart later, will unpack why he feels like there’s no ground beneath him but right now he needs to deal with the bandage. He draws in a small breath and exhales, reaching out with hands that are by some miracle not quivering.

“I’ll fix it”

Sitting on the reef, I saw three sunsets and three sunrises. The morning of the third day, Juugo arrived. I stood up and turned my gaze to the sea: I would never get tired of that scenery. "The others are coming."

"How did you come to know where I was?" Juugo pointed to a hawk that was flying in the sky tracing an arc. "Did you forget? I understand the language of the animals." We stayed in that way for a long while.

a little juusasu moment directly quoted from sasuke jinraiden. imagine juugo talking to the birds about sasuke, asking where he is, if he is safe, if hes eating well. its so tender and sweet. oh and the, 'we stayed in that way for a long while'. i imagine they sat mostly in silence shoulder to shoulder, watching the birds. maybe they took a short walk hand in hand up and down the beach looking for the best angle of the sunset. it would have been so peaceful for sasuke to have this time with juugo after his turbulent and emotional experience in the mountains. canonically this takes place just before this scene:

I love this, and one day I want to do a deep dive into how the tradition flute is so tied into all sorts of religious ceremonies here and how the Uchiha playing the flute as a Thing That They Do would tie them into the long long history of culture in the fire country and not just Shinobi culture.

thinking of all the official art of sasuke playing the flute. do you guys think that maybe it was standard practice for young uchiha to learn to play woodwind instruments in order to strengthen their breath control for the fireball justu? i love the idea of something so delicate being part of preparing for something so brutal, like athletes practicing ballet for agility. one of my favorite blogs from several years ago, i wish i could remember their username, wrote a headcanon where uchiha practiced traditional thoat singing for breath control purposes. i've never forgotten that, immediately after i read it it just became canon to me. anyways i like the idea of sasuke playing the flute as a cultural practice but i also like that its a healthy outlet for him to express his emotions, particularly feelings of grife and nostalgia. now im veering out of my lane here so correct me if necessary but the traditional japanese flute music that im familiar with takes on a very somber and ruminate tone, i mean just in a general sense i think its hard to make the flute sound too too cheerful, very sasuke. i imagine he took a break from playing during his teen years as it just wasn't practical anymore but he returned to it during the blank period as a way of reconnecting to his family and childhood in a positive way and healing past traumas.
