I am genuinely ashamed that my family is voicing support for a person who is representing such a disgusting ideology.  My family members are choosing a fascist and they’re too small-minded and afraid to know.

And if that idiot is elected and tries to put into place any of his BS policies (which, really, he has not talked about policy once) and is even remotely successful I will excise them from my life and the life of my son.  There is a reason I don’t want to leave him with them for even a day (when they visit). Until then.  I will bombard them with all of the Bernie.  At least one of them has potential for being swayed.

I’m startin’ an urban flower farm.

Really, at this scale, it’s gardening, but still. I’m hoping to have a couple lots by next year. I currently have one with about 500 sq ft of growing space and I’ve just been given permission to expand to the borders as well - an additional ~160 sq ft of space!

Adam wrote a novel about comics, gender equality, nudity, politics, and feminism.

A couple of my favourite bits:

There’s a place in comics for sexuality and eroticism – even in superhero comics.  But, I don’t think that routine, casual, decontextualized sexualization of female characters – titilation for titilation’s sake – especially in the absence of corresponding treatment of male characters, is acceptable in comics marketed to a very broad demographic that includes young teens and preteens. ... The second point is that nudity isn’t always sexual.  Manara’s cover isn’t problematic solely because of the treatment he gave to the costume – it’s more to do with posture and composition, and the way that Spider-Woman’s expressionless face is partially occulted behind a mask while her virtually naked body is left exposed to the viewer.  It’s depersonalized, objectifying.  Maleev’s Spider-Woman work, on the other hand, has a different tone to it.  The covers for issues #4 and #7 in particular have a very intimate, very naked quality, but this makes them work as portraits, not pinups – Spider-Woman feels more like a person, and not a piece of meat.

COMPLAIN

People who steal cheques out of the mail should have their big toes chopped off.  Or an all-edges coffee table placed in front of their washroom door every night. Grocery stores who stop stocking your favourite totally-not-unhealthy cookies and your tea are buttheads. Really putting yourself out there, opening up, sharing dreams that you have shared with maybe two other people (only really sharing how much it means to you kind of almost to one person).. and being rejected? Hurts.  Like.  A lot.  I am not good at rejection.  (See: failed job interviews.  But I need to Note: every job review ever and never ever getting a negative point on any review.. aside from I look angry a lot, but that's just my fuckin' face goddamnit.)

So, this is my bb goin' Super Saiyan.  He's a chunk.  He's 7 months old, still in the 97th percentile (WHY?!), and "high needs".  But who cares because he's fucking hilarious and he inherited my amazing facial control (or lack thereof).   He is the best thing ever and he loves the cat (the cat is not so interested).  People who don't like babies are stupid.

We used to do it in his sleep, then he caught on and woke up.  Then I switched to filing, but that wakes him up, too.  I've tried filing while he's awake, but he's broken a cardboard one and a thicker emory board.  I have a glass one (which is what I use at night), but I don't want him going near that.  This baby is like.. the Hulk. He's tricksy, this one. (We stuck some gauze and a band-aid on his finger and now he's treating it the same way dogs treat their feet when they wear boots.)

Phone bricked.  Computer turns off every hour.  The hole in my jeans got bigger.  Exhausted.  Adam accidentally clipped the baby's skin with the nail clippers (because he is wiggly and strong).  Not enough caffeine.  Cries for two of us.  Feeling like a shitty fucking mum.

Tomorrow will be better and there will be sea salt + dark choco.
