I saw someone say that by dying in the bombing that Prim died the way she was always meant to if Katniss hadn't intervened. Surrounded by innocent children. I haven't been the same since.

Lenore Dove is so misunderstood and mischaracterized by the fandom it makes me sad to see.
She is not this manic, dream pixie girl. Her character very much shaped, flawed and real. Haymitch is able to oversee and ignore her “flaws” because he’s a 16 year old teenage boy who is madly in love with her, but it is not hard for us readers, to look between those lines and see how fleshed her character really is.
She is seen to act before thinking, making rash decisions which aren’t the best for her wellbeing. She is way too emotional, feels too many feelings and has too many thoughts and she doesn’t know how to articulate them into words because she’s an introvert and she fears her words being lost in translation.
She only reveals her unfiltered, (sometimes) dark thoughts to her loved ones, and often enough she does it by using metaphors so she can still backtrack incase she gets misunderstood because she still feels like her thoughts could be a burden to the people around her.
She is not a “Lucy Gray Rip-Off”.
Lucy Gray was a born performer. She loved to be on stage, she loved performing for her people and knew how to get the crowd on her side, how to keep them entertained.
Lenore Dove doesn’t sing in front of people. It makes her uncomfortable. She’s not a “Born Performer” nor does she know how to control a crowd, at least not in the way Lucy Gray did.
She’s a rebel. She’ll only use her voice when she realizes she absolutely HAS to. She’ll use it when she’s mad, and sad, and in despair.
She’ll go against the rules at any given time, especially when it comes to protecting her loved ones. She doesn’t realize nor care about any consequences at the time, she only acts because she’s in pain and wants to avenge her people.
She’s a sixteen year old girl who dreamt big in a world where dreaming was a luxury and not something many people can afford.
In spite of her dark, burdened thoughts, she had still kept her innocence and was able to dream of a world without the reaping, she had hopes that one day that dream could become a reality, no matter how crazy it sounded to others.
She also had dreams of growing up, having a loving family and living peacefully with her loved ones and her boy who she loved more than anyone and she was willing to die for him.

"We do want you. You shook up the Capitol, both figuratively and literally, with that earthquake. You were capable of imagining a different future. And maybe it won't be realized today, maybe not in our lifetime. Maybe it will take generations. We're all part of a continuum. Does that make it pointless?" (SOTR, pg. 377)

I am desperately pleading with people to understand that wanting more Hunger Games books does not make us “like the Capitol citizens”.
If you truly understood this series you’d realize that it has impeccable story telling, covers important RELEVANT political themes, and doesn’t shy away from uncomfortable topics. Wanting more books from an author who writes very well, articulates what she feels needs to be heard, and has actual substance does not mean we are just chanting “more more more!” For the entertainment. It’s because Suzanne has been able to curate the world of Panem in a way that demands to be heard.
If you think you know the series, then you would know that Capitol citizens do not care for politics nor would they even have the knowledge of it TO care about. They’ve been groomed for years and years via propoganda that the districts are lesser than. They have been slowly losing their education, especially that of politics. Really watering it down to “we are good and they are bad.” Capitol citizens think that whatever snow says, is what’s best for them, because they are not starving, dying, or fighting for their lives. They have no reason to believe anything is wrong since they are not seeing the districts. So, no. Wanting to read about important political themes, crying over what these characters have gone through, and seeing the devastating comparison of panem and current state of America does not make us districts.
Thanks so much, love you

Katniss and Peeta's feast in the cave comes with silverware and plates. I always found this odd- it seemed as if it would have inflated the cost frivolously. I figured it had something to do with standards in the captiol, especially with how Effie remarks about table manners on the train.
no. it was haymitch both honoring Maysilee and continuing her poster.

"there are too many fan service cameos in SOTR" babe those are characters. We already knew Haymitch knew them. Just because we recognize their names doesn't make it fan service. There are plenty of new people too.

SOTR SPOILERS -
Ive warned you all i can
Okay lets talk about how the 6 pictures given to us before the book released were 6 different acts of rebellion in the book
The butterfly - came when haymitch was trying to hide Lou Lou's body from the hovercraft (reminiscent of katniss burying rue) "
“ And a third, on the back of the hand that cradles Lou Lou’s blood-streaked face. As if in slow motion, a stinger descends, a tiny spark jumps off my flesh as it makes contact, and a jolt of pain blinds me.”
The ladybugs - came when he tried to find the end of the arena to find the generator to yet again bomb to arena
“Ladybugs? I lift my hand to examine one. It’s a ladybug, all right, or pretty near. All up and down my arms, the creatures latch on to the flesh.”
The mockingjay pin - i mean come on, the very symbol of standing against the captiol
“They’d been fashioned by Tam Amber over thirty years ago. I never saw them, but Merrilee’s featured a hummingbird and Maysilee’s a mockingjay, birds being one of the Covey’s great loves.”
The candy - my personal belief is that those are in reference to the chocolates haymitch drops to silka as a way to care for her (literally the captiol’s biggest thing is to make the tributes view each other as animals needing to be put down)
“Sad, desperate, but also a rare moment of district unity in the Games. You know what would make it even better? I drop a handful of chocolate balls into the night. A startled sound. The sobs soften to sniffles. A candy wrapper crackles. Quiet.”
The paint - lenore dove painting anti-capitol statements across the district
“ I’m staring at a message sprayed in bright orange paint. NO CAPITOL, NO HANGING TREE! It’s a rebel play on the Capitol’s propaganda.”
The poster - haymitch and maysilee’s desire to ‘paint the poster’ and let them know exactly what theyre doing, and when haymitch brings Louellas body to snows feet
“They don’t want to feature this death on the Capitol’s watch, unplanned and highlighting their incompetence. This is not the blood they want to paint their posters with. I scoop Louella up in my arms and begin to back away.”
Would LOVE to hear your thoughts on this

My biggest pet peeve is people thinking that they know a character better than the actual author does.
“This is not how he would’ve handled it”
“She wouldn’t have said that”
“Well I think she didn’t actually love him.”
That’s exactly how they would have acted, reacted, felt, etc. Why? Because the author says so. Point blank.

something about how all the mockingjays of the series weren't actually reaped properly - Lucy Gray with the rigging, Haymitch being forced into it, and Katniss volunteering - because mockingjays were never meant to exist inside or outside the capitol

there's something REAL sinister with Sejanus having gumdrops trying to make friends at 8 and then the end of SOTR with Lenore Dove and Haymitch in the meadow.
