Touch and Go
Why? Why did he save her? She’s made it abundantly clear that she wasn’t ever going to join him, he was a blood relative but he was no family. Not to her anyway.
His words had hung over her, ‘Why do you let them treat you like a minion Kayo, you have the skills and spirits to lead, like me…. You and I are the same, we see an opportunity and we take it’. It wasn’t so much his words that disturbed her, but the fact he knew he was right. She was similar to him in multiple ways, more than she'd like to admit, and it scared her, really really scared her. She feared that she would become him one day if she wasn’t careful, if she didn’t keep herself in control.
She wasn’t keen to admit to how scared she had been when that goon had fired on her ship, she lost all control of it, even her emergency systems wouldn’t work. The eject button failed, that backup should never have failed, it could have saved her life if her uncle hadn't done what he did. She wasn’t able to hide the sheer panic from her voice though, she was essentially blasting that panic across the entire comms system, contradicting the persona she attempts to give off, extinguishing the confidence she always tries to display, even if she doesn’t feel it.
And Scott, how was she supposed to explain this to him when she didn’t even know why he did save her. Why would he? She despised him, chased him, did everything she could to stop him, but he still saved her life after going through all this trouble to steal the fuel. He was asking her questions she couldn’t find the answers for, not without revealing the truth anyways, and she wasn’t ready to do that, not yet.
The motor had been fried on her bird, she had some engineering knowledge from spending time with brains and knew that it would take a good week or so to repair the motor on its own and another few days to repair the rest of her bird. That gave her plenty of time to settle the argument that they had in the morning. She wasn’t going to back down, she believed in what she was doing, she fully believed that criminals should be stopped before they get a chance to act, the GDF was useless in her opinion, and always acted after the threat was long gone.
The roar of thunderbird 2’s engine filled the air and Kayo was glad, it meant that she could get home quicker, and escape to her room or the gym, whatever she felt like doing. Virgil was a welcome sight from Scott’s questioning, he was the brother she felt she could confess most things to him, he would understand, he normally did. She just hoped they all would when they find out the truth.

Her secret was unraveling. Benino knew all about her relationship with her uncle, a deep dark secret that she hadn’t even revealed to her brothers. The same people she trusted her life with, and she couldn’t even tell them. It wasn’t ignorance as to why she never did, yes, she knew that Jeff had asked her to keep it a secret from the boys so that they would continue to treat her like a sister since the day she moved in with them, but rather her own fear. Her deep fear that the boys would reject her, treat her as an outcast, or even exile her from the island.
She knew Grandma would do everything in her power to protect her, and to keep her nearby, but Scott’s rage was intense, his deep grief over the loss of his father fueling it. She dreaded to think how he would react to the news that the very man that was responsible for his fathers accident was a blood relative of hers.
She knew that she should have told them straight after the accident, but she was confused at the time. The boys and Grandma were mourning Jeff, Scott was dealing with being promoted to CEO of Tracy industries and head of international rescue, her own father had left the island, not a word to her, just a rushed note that Grandma would care for her, all whilst her being promoted to head of security. All of this whilst she was only 14 years old. She already felt abandoned by her father, the man who was her rock in her unstable life, and now she knew she risked further abandonment by the only people she had to care for her.
Time has long since passed since Jeff’s accident. She was now 17, she was head of security of Tracy industries and IR. She was much more confident, even came to love all the boys, which is what made telling the truth so much scarier. But that time was finally here, her secret was going to come out and there was nothing she could do about it. The clouds she was flying high above looked so peaceful, she was envious in a way, but she knew what had to be done.
‘Scott, as soon as everyone’s together. There's something I need to tell you all, something I should have said long ago..’

Kayo knew she was right about one thing, it would take much more convincing than she thought possible to get her to fly commercially again. She had already been apprehensive about the flight, yes, she was a skilled pilot and was used to traveling alone, however Kayo by nature is a slight control freak. She likes to be in control of the situations, given security can be dangerous, she likes to have the upper hand.
Kayo had been in London visiting her father for his 50th Birthday for a week, her brother had almost ordered her to take the time off, knowing that she was hesitant to leave the island and international rescue without a head of security. Part of her didn’t want to see him, still bitter and upset over him abandoning her overnight without a word on the island, however she knew Scott would want her to have this experience, as he no longer could with Jeff. It was a relief in a way, Kyrano was one of the four people on earth who knew of her relationship with her uncle, the other three being: Jeff, Colonel Casey and Grandma Tracy.
The teenager was finally back home now, thanks to Virgil’s quick thinking. Kayo honestly thought that she, along with the other 150 innocent passengers on the plane were going to die in that dessert. She even said her goodbyes just in case, expressing her true feelings about the boys, telling them that whilst she was born an only child, the boys took her in and became her brothers in time, and for that she was grateful.
‘Grandma is looking for you, you know’, Gordon entered her room, calling to his sister, who was leaning on her balcony looking out onto the sunset. Kayo had always been close with Gordon, the pair of them were only 4 months apart in age and they had been placed in the same school and year, leading to rumours, but they didn’t care, Gordon was popular and Kayo was glad she had her brother with her to be her friend.
‘I know but I don’t feel like celebrating, Gordy’ She replied. She felt guilty that she was willing to sacrifice the entire plane, its passengers and herself, simply to protect Alan and Gordon.
‘Hey, don’t think like that. You saved them all, you fought the hood in your regular clothes, you piloted a plane you had no experience with and best of all, you made it back here in one piece.’ He tried comforting her but could see her tensing up. He knew she was still afraid and knew that it would be a while before she allowed herself to fly commercial again.

Sorry for the late post, very behind on the rewatch.

Recharge
Alan and Gordon rushed towards the launch bay for thunderbird 3, John had informed them whilst gearing up that a space shuttle working on the construction of the new esrella grand space hotel had malfunctioned, leading to the degradation of life support inside the shuttle. Alan, although exhausted, was elated at the fact that, as this was a space mission, he would be incharge, pulling rank on his elder brother.
The rescue itself was simple enough, Alan was able to easily repair the systems, Virgil and Brains had taught him well. Gordon had informed Alan that as a precaution, the crew should be brought back to earth for a propper checkup before being allowed back into space, to which Alan agreed. The journey back to earth was quick, with the 4 astronauts being dropped off at the nearest GDF base, as per protical. Alan watched a group of trainees be bossed around by a Leutent, he joked secretly to Gordon that they had found Johns secret hair twin, with his bright red hair standing our amongst the group of terrified adults.
However, the two brothers knew they had to part ways and head home, they have had back to back to back rescues all week, and knew that if Scott and John were too exhausted, they would be the ones to go on rescues and not them. The journey home was quiet, with exhaustion creeping up on them, however Gordon wasn’t ready to back down to exhaustion so easily. ‘Soooooo, what do you reckon happened on the Arctic mission?’ Alan and Gordon hasn’t been told a thing. John was tight lipped as well, irritating Gordon more. ‘Ehh i don’t know, they looked pretty beat’ Alan replied, flying the ship like it was a video game on autopilot. Gordon never fully understood how he could be so relaxed when incharge of a rocket, granted he knew his ship like the back of his hand, but he was always consciously aware of its maverment. Alan seemed to be doing this uncouncoiusly. ‘Heh, what about that GDF lieutenant, I reckon Kayo would get along with him, the way he scared those cadets, its similar to the way our sister scares the bad guys into the hands of the GDF’ he joked.
It wasn’t long before Alan was docking Thunderbird 3 in its hanger, Scott and Virgil had managed to have a nap, a change to recharge. John had been informed during a debrief with the two eldest about the circumstances, however Virgil knew that Scott would want his heartfelt confession about their father kept secret, and so he did. John didn’t need to know everything.
Gordon and Alan strolled into the living room, with their elder brothers on the sofas, speaking to john as a hologram, Grandma Tracy sitting at their dads desk, still monitoring another situation, watching the screen minimise as local services take hold. ‘All right thats it’, she said in a raspy tone addressing her grandchildren. She has seen them come and go all week, knowing that this much exhaustion isn’t good for them ‘International rescue is going offline for 3 days minimum, all of you need to rest, you’ll make mistakes in the field which could cost a life. John, please inform the GDF’ she ordered. Scott looked like he wanted to protest, however a knowing glace from Virgil, and a stern look from his grandmother, was enough to silence him. He knew deep down that it had been a while since his family has had down time, and would be nice to just be together as a family.

Bit late on this one, apologies for any mistakes - set during ring of fire pt2
@thunderversary-rewatch-party
Kayo’s breathing was fast and heavy, her uncle, the man she used to love like a second father was back. To her, he had abandoned her and her father, and became detached, cold and unforgiving. Tanusha was 6 years old when she was told she and her dad had to leave behind her friends and her home to move to a remote island 11 years ago, to live with some billionaire and his five sons. Tanusha had been an only child so she knew that life, moving to the island had been a major challenge to her, she hid from the boys, particularly the older ones, with the eldest being in his late teens. Kayo knew that over the years, the brothers had accepted her into their lives, making her their sister. But deep down she knew that the secret would have to come back, now that that man was back.
She had heard stories about what crimes he committed, and even she couldn’t forget, but potentially killing Gordon today and many others? Her brothers meant everything to her, and she would sacrifice herself in a heartbeat to save them.
Kayo Knew her time in her little hiding spot was limited, she knew Alan would notice her absence soon, currently assuming she was in the bathroom or something. She quickly hurried back into the living room as Alan sat back down, with brains deciding that Alan wasn’t as much ‘helping’ as he thought he was. Sitting down on the sofa next to him, the duo exchanged a blank glare, neither wanting to give away how they were feeling. John’s voice suddenly broke through the comms, breaking them out the staring trance as the voice of that monster broke though, making his ridiculous demands, Kayo knew this would be a long and painful year, both mentally, and emotionally, for them all.

THUNDERVERSAY REWATCH PARTY - The Schedule
Alright folks, here it is!!
Note: TAG is in order because there is more of an overarching plot through the three series. In order to draw some of the FABulous links between the original and the remake we’ve done our best to arrange the TOS 1965 episodes to match - which means they aren’t in broadcast order but hopefully enjoyable all the same.
Only caveat is if you’ve never seen TOS before we suggest having a watch of the first episode (Trapped in the Sky) as that might help things make sense before we get going.
The Plan
It’s not time-specific - watch any or all of the episodes listed for that week in that week. Check in on the “I watched it” post and then go wild - write, draw, make edits, screen grabs and gifs, remake scenes, role play, go mad with the merch, reblog old stuff, ramble wildly about The Thoughts it inspires - anything goes!!
We’ll have various group activities and challenges running - more on those in another post!
@ this page (@thunderversary-rewatch-party) and use tags #Thunderversary / #Thunderversary-rewatch and #Name-Of-Episode and we’ll reblog everything we see (subject to some ground rules below).
Ground rules:
Rule 1. The “not your thing? scroll on by!” will be heavily emphasised in this event - last thing we want is bad feeling.
There are no right and wrong headcanons and no right or wrong interpretations of the canon either. Even if a take is popular, others are allowed.
We all get passionate and that is amazing but if any posts or replies begin to stray into getting personal / aimed to make people feel bad for their opinions that’s not ok.
Rule 2. While it’s a family show, this is tumblr - it’s up to you what you write / draw etc, but there are a few things we won’t reblog in an effort to keep it safe for everyone:
- NSFW
- Underage / CSA
- Major character death (non-canon… I think it’s too late for Lucy)
- Horror / Gore etc
Rule 3. Please be mindful and tag as appropriate. We’ll endeavour to tag for reblogs but the way tumblr works means it’s really the OP’s responsibility to ensure the right tags are present. That means things like tws for injury / death / romance / mental illness and tagging ships, and it means putting the content under a read more as appropriate.
If you @ us, you’re agreeing that if we think a tag or a read more shield is missing we can message you and you’ll add it to the top post. (If you don’t we may quietly remove our reblog)
Rule 4. Take care of yourselves - we’ve all got lives and won’t have time to read everything in depth / keep track 100% - if we miss something that can’t be on us. If it looks like you aren’t going to enjoy it - please scroll on by.
Finally - all ideas and feedback very welcome - if you want to join the party planning team drop us a DM!

Might be very much overthinking this but watching ring of fire part two when Kayo saw shadow for the first time but then thinking, how she could not know about it as head of Securiry, assuming she would know about everything going on the island but not the construction of her own ship?
Really hope this makes sense and not overthinking something that’s irelivant😅. Any thoughts greatly aprecheated thank you

Kayo guessed that her brothers had forgotten, or that they had just been too wrapped up with all the rescues, reports and Tracy industry, after all, this morning seemed like just a regular day to them all. Scott was buried in his paperwork, Gordon was in the pool doing laps as normal, Grandma Tracy making what would have been waffles for breakfast, and the other brothers still in bed, with John on five. Kayo began her day as she normally would, waking up early, grabbing leftovers from the fridge and a mug of coffee before staring at the security reports and checking the data from last night, looking at the data, before heading off to Shadow in order to patrol the area. Kayo would hate to admit it, but this was her favourite part of the morning, being able to cruise around the shadows of the island in her bird, in the silence of her own thoughts, in the comfort of knowing that the island was safe.
Kayo continued with her routine, taking a trip to the Gym before giving herself a well earned shower. The rest of her brothers, minus Alan, were now all up and sharing a cup of coffee around the kitchen table, with Virgil pretty much hogging the whole of the coffee jug. Kayo always thought it was amusing how there was always a need for coffee in the morning for everyone in that house, to make sure they wouldn’t be falling asleep on any upcoming rescues. Kayo enjoyed this moment, with her family appearing that they had forgotten her birthday, she was slightly disappointed, she knew Gordon loved teasing her on her birthday, she was only 4 months younger than him and he loved to remind her that she was ‘getting old’. Kayo would never admit it but she enjoys this banter between them, seeing as she calls Gordon old on his birthday. Unfortunately Kayo couldn't be with her thoughts any longer as she heard the familiar chime and John’s voice calling out ‘International rescue, we have a situation’.
It was a simple search and recovery mission, one Kayo could handle with Shadow. Kayo didn’t see the point in her being sent, with any of the others being more suited to the missions. Scott could have done the mission and been back within 30 minutes, with Kayo being gone for a few hours. Little known to her, the family was planning a secret little party for her, nothing over the top, just the way she likes things. Scott had picked up a cake for Kayo, a chocolate cake, the type she would never admit was her guilty pleasure. Kayo’s trip home was quiet, with only the humm of Shadow’s engines. Being unaware of what was going on in her own home.
Gordon and Alan were doing the balloons, with Max hanging up the bunting. Although it was nearly impossible, keeping certain secrets from Kayo was possible, but took weeks of planning. Kayo had docked Shadow and ran her usual post flight checks. Kayo wondered, straight from the shower into the lounge. Kayo stared in awe of the mini celebration they did for her, presents on the table, balloons and banners hanging. “you remembered?” Kayo was shocked at the sight in front of her. “what kind of question is that? of course we did Kayo” Alan told her. Kayo had been foolish to believe that they had forgotten about her birthday.
Kayo’s presents consisted of a range of kung fu movies, Alan loved giving her those, Gordon got her a shirt with a grumpy cat on the front, with the words ‘don’t mess with me’. Kayo loved it. ‘I love how old you are now Kay, almost like we're both getting old, don't you think” Gordon chuckled as Kayo shared a smile with him as he wrapped her arm around her shoulders. Kayo grinned as she continued to open her presents around her family, with blowing out her candles, eating maybe a bit too much cake, but hey it was her birthday, she could indulge.
Scott tried handing her a beer, with Kayo swiftly refusing. She rarely drank at all, she wasn’t really a fan of it. Kayo had quite a low tolerance when it came to alcohol, and utterly refused to drink outside of the island, knowing she’d only really be safe with her family, “come on, it’s your birthday! you can party as hard or as little as you like.” Kayo knew Scott was true, and why not! She was with her family, and knew to savour little moments with them whilst she could. After all, it was her birthday.

Kayo to Gordon: FIGHT ME!
Scott looking up from the workload on the desk: Stop telling everyone to fight you, look how small you are!
Kayo: my height doesn't effect my ability to snap someone's neck in 97 different ways! INCLUDING YOURS!
Scott: you cant even reach my neck
Kayo: Do you really want me to test me now? Because I see my step stool just a foot away from me. DO NOT MAKE ME USE IT!
