Review: NINYO Fusion Cuisine and Wine Lounge

The Food

Trilogy of Foei Gras - Pan seared set on nasu miso topped with caramelizes maui onions, poached set on truffled croquettes, torchon set on nori crostini served with pickled mango and umeboshi served with mixed greens in balsamic teriyaki vinaigrette.

Trio of Oysters - Fusion Rockefeller topped with red lumpfish caviar (ebiko), Baked oyster with foei gras Asian hollandaise, and wasabi fried oyster with citrus mayo dressing.

The Service

They use Russian service. We weren’t able to see from which side they served food and bust out because our table was beside a wall. Instead, they served from the opposite side of the wall only. There was no inconvenience for most of our time there because the table was small enough. When we were seated, the table was not properly set. There was a folded table napkin, yes, but the silverware wasn’t complete. They served water after we were seated but it was definitely over thirty seconds. In my opinion, they didn’t really try to make their service personal. They didn’t even do suggestive selling aside from the time I asked what were their bestsellers for main course. No up selling as well. They did repeat our order and mentioned it again when they delivered the food.

I want to add some observations. The waiter did not unfold the table napkin. I was also given a “butter” knife (instead of a steak knife) even if my food was steak. I had to ask for the proper knife. There was also an instance when a waiter was walking through beside me and he broke a small glassware. He picked up the big pieces and walked away without saying anything to me even though there were some pieces that hit my foot and leg.

70 cities outside the Philippines and this is the first ever airplane window shot. Missed a lot of beautiful sunsets and sunrises and interesting cloud formations. Oh well. There's always a next time. :)
