oh gosh, it feels bad, doesn't it 😭😭Unfortunately, if I'm fully honest, I'm not sure how we're going to get updates? Tagura left twitter because of the big wave of headass rules and restrictions that musk introduced around last year, and Tagura said they'd be moving to bluesky temporarily until they figured out a permanent solution...but they haven't posted at all on bluesky? So, I have no idea if they're on a platform that I just haven't found yet, or if they're still in a social media limbo?

I'm just crossing my fingers that they're healthy and doing well, and hoping very dearly that they return safely to Koimonogatari! A positive we do have going for us is that the series is officially licensed in English, so even if Tagura ghosts social media for good, we might be jumpscared with an English volume someday asldkjfasda

Okay so i couldn't find a phone wallpaper generator so all of these are literally screenshots of my own phone lockscreen that i set with these pics that i think the koi kids would use A;SLDKFAJSD Shoutout to @pierrotpriest for sending me down this rabbithole (there are black blanks by some of the wallpapers just so the post isn't so damn long to scroll down with)

Yuiji

I feel like Yuiji's phone gallery is extremely sparse with photos that he actually takes himself + a bunch of photos where hongou and mayu stole his phone and just spammed photos. However, one of the few things that I think he would care about taking pics of is the bb Azuki. This shibe is yuzutheinu on IG.

Yamato

I think Yamato would set an ostensibly generic looking nature photo as his wallpaper. He'd take it at some moment though where he felt calm and save it as his background to hold on some of that calmness. This photo is by Mak on Unsplash

Hongou

Hongou's would OFC be his fav idol LOL Then, once he started officially dating his girlfriend, he'd change it to the whole group in general. This is Shizuku for ME:I who I literally found by trying to research a jpop idol who looked like hongou's gf a;lsdkfja;

Nacchan

Nacchan strikes me as someone who would be into cozy video games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, so I chose a fanart by @chanteii as her wallpaper!

Seki

At first, I considered giving Seki an inspirational photo he took while he was traveling, but then I thought it'd be super funny (and still in character) if he was the kind of person that never customized his phone settings and just uses the default wallpaper ASL;DKFJA

Mayu

I think Mayu's wallpaper while she was dating Yuiji would be a really subtle photo of her friends, and I chose this one by Nico Tsviliov on Unsplash that I thought would be super sweet memory of Mayu posing Yuiji and Hongou's hands in this photo. Then, after they break up, she'd pick just a random pretty nighttime picture she's taken before. The second photo is by Tsuyoshi Kozu on Unsplash.

Sakura

I feel like Sakura would be an indie movie hoe, so his wallpaper is a screencap from Wong Kar Wai's In the Mood for Love.

Akiyama

My immediate inclination was to give Akiyama a fanart of his favorite female video game character A;LDKJFA After some brief research, I decided Baiken from Guilty Gear would be his type. This fanart is by Sokuse Kienta who used to be on pixiv and twitter, but I can't find where they are now.

Arcane AU

Yuiji

Yuiji is from a well-to-do family that oversaw an airship trade vessel operation in Piltover. They had minimal influence over politics until Jayce introduced the Hexgates. They gained a ton of power and influence out of nowhere and Yuiji was dragged into the family business with more urgency than ever. Before, he was happy doing mundane inventory counts and maintenance checks on the airships. He detests the politics that he has been suddenly exposed to. He's begun running away from home at inopportune times and maybe wandering a little further than he should be.

Yamato

Yamato was originally from Zaun, but his talent in Joltball found him recruited for a Piltovan league. (Idk, Joltball is soccer in Piltover, but imagine tech footwear and a more dimensional field with obstacles) He's constantly ostracized and isolated by his topsider teammates. He's persisting to bring back money for his folks, and he's just hoping to continue with the sport until he can afford to buy a house for his family in a more affordable neighborhood in Piltover and leave the sports league behind. He finds himself hanging out on rooftops and staring at the airships above for a sense of escape.

Hongou

Hongou's family is a very influential family in the world of politics, but he has so many older siblings, that his role in the family hierarchy is fuzzy and unestablished. He often ditches family functions (without much flack) to attend concerts, art installations, and sports events. He's Yuiji's best friend and he's incredibly good at distracting Yuiji when the young scion is supposed to be conducting an airship inspection or drafting an important letter to a trading competitor.

Nacchan

A young Zaunite tinkerer who is apprenticing under a clockmaker. The business is actually doing fairly well since it has drawn a decent amount of customers from the topside. Growing up, she spent a lot of time with Yamato running through the fissures and climbing into abandoned buildings. She built his earliest sets of Joltcleats and more than a few of them short-circuited and starting sparking when they definitely weren't supposed to. Yamato still visits her to get his pocketwatch tuned up. Nacchan always asks Yamato to bring her back Piltovan pastries back when he visits.

Seki

A Joltball player in the same league as Yamato. He's from a well-off family of architects and Joltball is just a hobby for him. When he's not practicing, he's studying to become a politician. He hopes to get to a point where he can be a policymaker and write laws for the good of Piltover. His initial goal was to focus on housing laws, but meeting Yamato (the first Zaunite he's ever talked to) made him start to think things differently. After matches, he began hounding Yamato to take him to get coffee and get dinner. Yamato initially refused, feeling that he was getting targeted for being a trencher (he was), but eventually relented because Seki was so persistent. They eventually became good friends when they got past their first impressions of one another.

Mayu

A young recruit in the enforcers. She got into the force through sheer display of skill, but her higherups still won't give her any major or dangerous assignments due to her age. She's usually plopped into checking tickets for cable cars and other public transport. Sometimes, she's monitoring security for trading goods. She's always terribly bored and upon meeting Hongou who would chat up a storm during her patrols, she became fast friends with her new source of entertainment. She would also soon befriend the young, drowsy-eyed scion who visited the airships for routine inspections.

Sakura

His parents are Zaunite engineers who moved to Piltover before he was born. His whole life, they've tried to assimilate into Piltovan norms and did everything they could to raise Sakura as the model Piltovan citizen. He's exasperated with his parents' obsession with image, but he loves them otherwise and is happy to take up the family business. He's currently working with them to design Joltball fields and arenas. When Yamato joined the League, Sakura's parents were insistent that Sakura not interact with him, but when Sakura noticed how lonely he was, he couldn't help but approach him.

Akiyama

Originally from a Noxian family, Akiyama ran away/was banished (?) (the story changes depending on who you're talking to) to Piltover because the tech and gadgets would be more suitable to a "soft" person like him. Being estranged from his family, Akiyama was happy to start a new life in Piltover and managed to score well enough in the exams to enroll in an engineering university. When he meets a sour-faced kid who barely goes to class and leaves early one day because he "has a job with his parents", Akiyama ditches class too to see what's going on.

Social Media Habits

Yuiji

Yuiji feels absolutely chronically offline to me. He constantly forgets to text his friends back and they've learned that they need to call him if they have anything important to say. He made an Instagram account because Hongou and Mayu forced him to follow them back and he's pretty indiscriminate with following classmates back when they ask him to because he doesn't really use the app. When he's waiting for the subway or his friend, he might scroll through recommended reels. Once in a blue moon, he'll post a blurry story of him petting Azuki.

Yamato

Yamato is pretty internet literate when it comes to browser stuff, but he doesn't spend much time on social media. His Instagram has less than 10 pictures on it and they're all from major events like winning the school soccer league or family vacations abroad. 233 accounts follow him and he follows 7. He always texts with perfect grammar and full sentences.

Hongou

Hongou only regularly uses three apps, but he's always signing up for new ones and forgetting his usernames and passwords. He's a huge Twitter user for following idols and is constantly commenting a string of heart emojis when they post selfies. He and Mayu relentlessly send reels to each other and he sends Yuiji silly posts when he's sitting right next to him to see his reaction. Recently, watching Yuiji's reaction to real or cake videos has been his favorite go-to.

Nacchan

Nacchan's not big on social media, but she's very attentive to her messaging apps and never leaves people on-read. Occasionally, she likes trying out baking hacks and aesthetic recipes that come by her feed. Most of her phone time though is spent on webtoon apps and she'll never admit how much money she's spent on unlocking chapters. She also loves customizing her phone's wallpaper and icons into cute themes.

Seki

Seki had a bad middle school phase of being a social media warrior with engaging in fandom fights on reddit and tumblr. Yamato just had to ask him once why he was in such a bad mood at soccer practice, and Seki deleted his accounts immediately. He has a healthy, vanilla relationship with social media now, though TikTok did briefly threaten to pull him to the dark side.

Mayu

Mayu's too easily fed up with stupidity to use social media regularly. She follows news outlets, cute animal content, and likes all the videos that Hongou sends, but she refuses to use any social media app that forces recommend content. If she can't pick and select the specific accounts that she wants to follow, she won't do it. She enjoys longform content the most and will play video essays on random topics or podcasts as background noise.

Sakura

Sakura constantly vagueposts and never replies if his followers or irl acquaintances ask him what's going on. He never posts selfies, but will post an occasional aesthetic picture of him raising his hand into the sun or his shadow on a bridge or some shit like that. He follows dumb accounts specifically to laugh and ridicule them. He never comments, but they frequently anger him and his boss constantly questions if it's healthy. (it's not.)

Akiyama

I've made this headcanon in my sleeping habits post, but I 100% think Akiyama is a doomscroller. Miyano had to force him to delete TikTok when it was first released because Akiyama just couldn't escape. Akiyama schedules MV drops for his favorite artists, follows a few too many twitch streamers, and has a toxic relationship with gatcha games. He wants all the waifus and his RNG is horrible.

Hibino

Hibino watches thirst trap TikTok under his covers and he can't really use social media in public because his fbi men have absolutely clocked how horny he is and his recommendations are shot.

this is an EXTREMELY late (literally years im so sorry AHH) giveaway prize for @tyqfullbuster ! they requested yuiji in the shinsengumi uniform which im not familiar with, but i hope you enjoy it!

i was so enamored with yuiji wearing traditional clothing that i painted a few more modern day color variations HAHA I drew a "realistic" version what i imagined yuiji would actually wear in the black color scheme and a fun floral and geometric version that someone else would have to pick for him.

Koimonogatari Character Playlists: Seki Kazutaka

HELLO, I have a Character Playlist Series for Koimonogatari where I will be making playlists for each of the characters! Unlike my Koimonogatari playlist, the songs won’t be necessarily describing the characters themselves, but rather what I imagine the character would listen to.

Next up is Seki Kazutaka’s playlist! I have a personal headcanon that in middle school, Seki went through an emo phase that he’s not particularly proud of LOL, so I built this playlist around the idea of an emo kid whose moved past their hard-core emo phase, but still listens to rock and pop music with an edge.
