#Show Review by Sara Hassan

Remembering a Legend
by: Sherif El Herraoui
Thirty nine years after her death, Umm Kulthoum is still regarded as the greatest Arab singer of all times. Her voice with the distinctive character and her witty choice of poems and talented composers have enriched the modern classical Egyptian and Arabic music scene with timeless gems for generations to come.
Years after her death, her figure is still remembered and commemorated in the modern pop culture such as the above selected Graffiti decorating the walls of modern Cairo, reminding people of their recent past, when art was a part of peoples' daily life and beauty was never shameful or forbidden.

soulmate
by : Muhammed Magdi
How many times we’ve heard the word “soul mate”?
“She found her soul mate” or “They are soul mates”
They say there’s a soul mate for everyone.
So what’s a “soul mate”?
A soul mate is that person you feel most comfortable with, someone similar to you in every way or almost every way. Someone you love, and be loved back. You share intimacy, sexuality, spirituality, compatibility and trust.
It’s like your souls are bound together with secret sacred bond.
The origin of this concept was Plato an ancient Greek philosopher and he says at 1st there were no men and women. There was only a unisex creature which had a round ball like shape with one head, two faces, four feet, four hands, and two genitalia.
They were so powerful, really fast too as they didn’t run instead they rolled around themselves. They threatened to conquer the gods.
So Zeus the father of all gods and humans wanted to punish them for such a thought.
Zeus split them in two halves in order to weaken them.
And then Apollo took care of their appearances as he “plastic surgeries” for us to look the way we look right now. All that’s left from this operation is our “belly button”.
So every half would miss the other half and keep looking for it miserably to become whole again.

1984 Summer Olympics judo finals witnessed remarkable fair play from the side of Mohamed Ali Rashwan, an Egyptian judoka, who didn't aim at his rival's right leg, Yasuhiro Yamashita, because Yamashita tore a right calf muscle in the preliminaries in the tournaments. The Japanese Yasuhiro Yamashita won the match and the gold medal and Rashwan got the silver medal and titled "The Winner of Fairplay International Award, 1984". Rashwan became a symbol of fair play in the Olympics and his story went viral in both Egypt and Japan. In the press conference, Rashwan stated that he didn't aim at Yamashita's right leg because the teachings of his religion and culture forbid him to cause harm to an injured man.
At the end of the video Rashwan helped Yamashita to step up to receive his medal in the tournament (speaks a lot of compassion & goodness.)

In order to understand Buddhism, you have to understand Zen Philosophy, enlightenment tree and all about masters' chats. If yoga puts your body and mind at peace through physical effort, zen does the same through contemplation and observing nature.

“You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water my friend.”

Christmas is jingling on the doors, a little odd this year. TV presenters on Fox News are persisting that Santa is white (not black!) on which Jon Stewart had fun of it in The Daily Show; and now this: Photographer Ed Wheeler studying classical paintings for a decade that he decided to celebrate Christmas on his own way.
Santa Classics is a new series of images created by artist, photographer and Santa devotee, Ed Wheeler. Wheeler imagines Santa entering into the great masterworks of art, with humor and reverence for the originals.

O.M.G Exhibition
O.M.G is compiled work of Bassem Samir, a young talented artist that combined photography and graphic design to produce an insightful photo-manipulated artwork that offers a brave and bold insight onto our culture and heritage. His work expresses a blend of modern and traditional social and political ideas. The vibrant, bold color palette, symbols and details gives his artwork a level of depth and layering that hinges you to the floor and forces you to look at the work over and over again, engaging and intriguing your mind and senses; the more you look at the artwork/pieces the more you grasp and see. This multi-layering technique keeps you coming back to re-view the artwork and take a deeper look into it. The idioms painted over the pieces blends with intended modern concept revealing part of the latter and yet keeps wondering. His work is well crafted and his attention to details leaves it almost perfect.
The exhibition is held in El Safar Khan in Zamalek during this week.

500 Years Old Love Letter (c.1582)
A love letter was found in the ancient tomb of a mummified corpse in Andong City, South Korea., the letter was written by a grieving pregnant widow to her dead lover, Eung-Tae Lee. The 16th-century male was a member of the ancient Goseong Yi clan and died long before his beloved at the age of 30.
Even though Eung-Tae Lee is now mummified, his death can still break our hearts. This letter was resting on his chest, a message of love that stayed by his side since 1582 by his pregnant wife whose life was falling apart.
The letter reads:
To Won’s Father
June 1, 1586
You always said, “Dear, let’s live together until our hair turns gray and die on the same day.” How could you pass away without me? Who should I and our little boy listen to and how should we live? How could you go ahead of me?
How did you bring your heart to me and how did I bring my heart to you? Whenever we lay down together you always told me, “Dear, do other people cherish and love each other like we do? Are they really like us?” How could you leave all that behind and go ahead of me?
I just cannot live without you. I just want to go to you. Please take me to where you are. My feelings toward you I cannot forget in this world and my sorrow knows no limit. Where would I put my heart in now and how can I live with the child missing you?
Please look at this letter and tell me in detail in my dreams. Because I want to listen to your saying in detail in my dreams I write this letter and put it in. Look closely and talk to me.
When I give birth to the child in me, who should it call father? Can anyone fathom how I feel? There is no tragedy like this under the sky.
You are just in another place, and not in such a deep grief as I am. There is no limit and end to my sorrows that I write roughly. Please look closely at this letter and come to me in my dreams and show yourself in detail and tell me. I believe I can see you in my dreams. Come to me secretly and show yourself. There is no limit to what I want to say and I stop here.
Love is timeless. The love these two shared centuries ago is just as strong as the love we share today. It’s an incredible thing.
