i think dew HATED. phantom when he first joined. he couldn't look at him, be in the same room, talk about him, he took it to the EXTREME. he handles grief with a lot of rage. i dont know how or when he warms up to him. it could be he does something that reminds him of aether, or of himself when he was a freshly summoned ghoul.

phantom ofc blames himself the entire time and feels like everything is his fault. he becomes the worlds worst people pleaser and is like THE easiest mf to manipulate because of it

Hello! I love the quintessence ghouls so much! I have a hc that since they are so in tuned with the energies around them, they have to train themselves not to get overstimulated. I would love a fic where Phantom is still learning how to control his energy and Aether is there to comfort him when he’s overstimulated. I just love the ghouls so much 😋😋😋

Phantom is still so new to being connected with his element, he still has no idea how to handle the feeling of all of the other ghouls' and ghoulettes' energies around him. It's a lot for the poor boy, and it's not like he can just shut it off with a switch...

It's been a long day for him, he's tired, he's a little emotional, and the feeling of every energy near him is so overwhelming and overstimulating. He doesn't know what to do, he doesn't know how to not feel so overstimulated right now. All he can do is sit on his bed for a minute, pick up his bat plushie, and sob into it. He decides to go find Aether, he can maybe help...right?

Aether is in his room, sitting on his chair and doing some things on his laptop before he hears a knock at the door. He's about to yell to go away, and that he's busy, but he hears a shaky little voice and he can feel a not-so-great energy from behind the door.

"Aether?" Phantom practically squeaks out between little sniffles and choked back sobs. Aether sets everything down, going to the door to open it, and he does all of that rather quickly. He opens the door to find poor phantom there, bat plush in arms, tears bubbled up in his eyes, tail wrapped around his leg...

"Hi, Phantom, what's wrong bug?" Aether asks, his voice gentle as he leads Phantom into his room, letting him sit on the edge of his bed.

"it's too much- I can feel everything and it's so overstimulating" Phantom sobs out, his voice all shaky and quiet, like his own voice is just gonna add to his overstimulation.

"Okay, okay buggy, take a few deep breaths for me, okay?" Aether says, trying to get Phantom to calm down a little. Phantom does as he says, which finally gets the tears to stop and the sniffles to slow.

"I know it's overwhelming and overstimulating. It'll get better, it'll be easier to manage. You'll get used to it, and once you're able to control how to feel everything without feeling it, it'll be ok." Aether reassures him, gently laying him down on the bed to get him comfy and cuddle him up...and eventually, Phantom is much calmer and content, enough so that he's able to sleep for now, cuddled up in Aether's arms.
