And what’s the point of being seen if it isn’t honest? What’s the point of being loved if your sadness and darkness can’t be apart of that love to? No those things don’t define you, but they stay and go at a home inside you. The act you put on is lovely but the way you are right before bed, in the midst of a heart break, in the car after work exhausted, after a fight with your mom, the you in those moments is lovable too yknow? You don’t have to hide them. To be known is to be loved.

I started wearing my favorite dresses even if I’m staying home. I decided I don't have to wait for an occasion to dress up, put makeup on, or take the time to get ready. I deserve to feel lovely while I’m folding laundry or doing the dishes. Feeling beautiful during the mundane tasks of life makes them feel more beautiful too.

The wonderful thing about God is you can show up sad, confused, un productive, messy, wrong, and He still loves you just the same as yesterday.

And at the end of the day, I’m homesick for heaven.

I’m a Pinterest girly at heart and I love love love looking at pretty pics while I’m planning my dream life but girlies… Are we determining our future by what Pinterest says or what God is saying? Like I know pinning stuff is a great visual aid but imagine the possibilities the creator of the universe has for you that go beyond a picture of some other chick taking pics at the beach. Ya know???

Who else just loves the colors orange and pink? Like? It reminds me of being a tween and having a slumber party with my friends and begging our parents to go get milkshakes and starting to wear more makeup and summer and sunsets and tan skin and the beach and discovering your fav band

Dear me in 2017, 

It’s Sunday afternoon, January 2024. You’re sitting in your apartment watching the snow fall from your upstairs window. You don’t have anything to do because you already got everything done. You finally learned that discipline creates space for freedom. You enjoy eating again. You love cooking, trying new recipes, and sharing what you make with those you love. You realize that you are nourishing yourself so you can be healthy for your future family, rather than caring about fitting into a smaller size of jeans. You don’t have that family quite yet, but you pray for them everyday. You love the colors orange & pink again. You no longer speak to your best friend… but you’ve gained a few others who love you relentlessly and unconditionally. You found God. You don’t miss getting high. You forgave your mom. You take book recommendations from your step mom and talk about politics with your step dad. You miss them when you go back home now. You still believe your dreams will come true, but part of you is okay if they don’t. Memories still sting but not as much, and I promise you happiness does come.

I was listening to a podcast recently and it mentioned something about taking your true desires to God regardless of what they are. Asking in prayer for what you really want even if it seems a little far fetched. After that prayer, ask Him to take away or redirect your heart towards the things He wants for you. It doesn’t do us any good to pray for things we dont necessarily want, but think we should be asking for just to please God. He wants to know our heart ( He already knows ) but he wants us to come to him with honesty and humility. Who’s knows, maybe what you want is in His will for you.
