zoey's  sitting  criss-cross  applesauce  on  the  couch,  leaning  forward  &  watching  the  tv  screen  -  her  eyes  keep  flickering  back  over  towards  mystery,  checking  to  make  sure  he's  still  interested.  her  heart  feels  like  it's  beating  a  million  miles  an  hour  (  …  )  augh,  damn  demon  boys  being  cute.  but,  well.  here  she  is.  how'd  everything  in  her  life  line  up  to  get  her  here?

“  yeah,  did  you  know  they  have  super  good  color  vision?  ‘cause  their  eyes  produce  this  special  oil  for  their  retinas.  and  a  turtle’s  shell  grows  with  them  -  they  can't  actually  leave  it,  like  how  we  can't  really  leave  our  skin.  wait,  can  demons  leave  their  skin?  can  you  just  walk  out  of  it?  ”

he's sitting on the sofa near zoey, long legs tucked beneath him as a documentary about turtles plays on the television. he's been sitting there in perfect silence for a little more than an hour, contentedly watching the documentary and barely even moving. he's been paying close attention, finding it interesting because zoey is interested in it. he tries to remember through the haze that has clouded his mind for so long if human him had liked turtles, but it was no use. the information consistently evaded his grasp just as it always does. the documentary comes to an end and his gaze shifts over to zoey, a sudden feeling of awkwardness seizing him. he finally says, "that was a good documentary. i-i didn't know that turtles were so interesting."

they've  been  talking  about  themes  for  the  comeback  album  for  hours,  &  the  only  thing  zoey  is  sure  about  is  that  it's  going  to  be  about  ‘  uncovering  who  you  really  are.  ’  probably.  maybe.  if  they  can  get  past  the  concepts  (  …  )  which  feels  impossible  right  now!

“  okay,  okay,  rumi,  what  if  …  what  if  we  did  like,  a  stained  glass  motif?  or  something  angel-y?  like  we  have  fluffy  white  wings  &  the  concept  is  like,  we've  ascended  because  of  how  good  we've  been  protecting  the  world  …  ” 

she  pauses,  looking  over  towards  @hunteridol,  &  zoey's  voice  goes  a  little  softer.  “  are  you  okay?  i  don't  think  you've  said,  like,  anything  in  the  past  hour.  ” / ♡

“you  seem  familar.  have  i  threatened  you  before?”  in a rap battle, he means. probably.

not  him  again  (  …  )  okay,  yeah,  they'd  done  a  rap  battle!  and  -  he'd  won!  by  a  VERY  slim  margin,  &  zoey  didn't  like  losing  there,  but  she'd  freely  admit  she'd  lost  that  time.  again,  by  a  slim  margin.  (  okay  maybe  not  freely,  but  she  would  admit  it.  begrudgingly!  at  least  he's  not  baby!  ) 

“  yes,  ”  slips  through  gritted  teeth,  begrudgingly.  “  we've  met  …  once.  did  you  come  back  for  another  taste?  ”  hahaha.  she's  dreamt  about  a  rematch.  she  would  sooo  do  that  again,  even  if  just  to  use  all  the  scraps  she's  written  down  against  him,  the  comebacks  she  thought  of  in  the  shower  after  the  fact.  her  nose  crinkles  from  the  face  she's  pulled.

she  glares  at  him,  eyes  still  narrowed  with  distrust.  actually  -  they're  past  distrust.  sheer  annoyance  might  be  a  better  word.  how  dare  he  come  by  &  mess  up  this  event?!  she  has  to  get  him  out  of  here  before  any  of  the  fans  see  him  &  decide  they'd  rather  spend  the  event  asking  him  all  about  the  saja  boys!  her  heart  wouldn't  take  it!

“  are  you  just  here  to  annoy  me?!  ”  she  asks,  arms  wound  so  tightly  together  that  it  almost  hurts.  you're  not  going  to  steal  our  fans  -  at  least,  that's  what  she  WANTS  to  say,  but  there's  zero  point  in  voicing  what  already  lies  in  the  are  between  them.  her  lips  curl  into  a  pretty  unflattering  expression.  “  why  are  you  even  here?  ”

the distrust isn't even oozing off her - it's flowing. pouring, like a waterfall of some sort. the metaphor is there, somewhere, but he can't quite grasp it yet. ah well. the important thing is that it's entirely all too entertaining. his smile is sweet as he plants himself in a nearby chair, not caring if it was meant to belong to someone as he poses - one leg crossed, elbow on his knee, and chin in hand.

"I'm not really here for anything. Can't a guy just be bored? I'll wait right here, I promise~"

her  eyes  widen,  just  a  smidgen,  the  second  she  notices  the  phone.  her  lips  part  -  okay,  yeah,  technically,  she  had  just  threatened  him.  told  him  he  wouldn't  get  away  with  it.  ‘  it  ’  being  stealing  souls,  of  course,  but  now  it  sounded  like  she  was  outright  threatening  him  for  coming  onto  the  scene  &  taking  away  records  from  HUNTR/X  (  …  )  and  that,  for  obvious  reasons,  sounded  BAD.

“  not  at  all,  ”  zoey  says,  quickly,  the  words  blurring  together  as  she  flashes  a  grin  towards  the  screen.  “  i'm  -  i'm  just  saying  you're  not  going  to  get  away  with  putting  out  only  ONE  catchy  song!  where's  the  album?  i  need  like,  at  LEAST  eight  more!  ”  she  laughs,  a  little  startled-sounding,  her  face  burning.

talking about it w/ some mutuals - a lot of the time, people's rules blur together for me because i have read a lot of them. if we're writing together and you need me to not do small text, or not do colored text, or anything like that, please let me know. i will do my best to double-check going forward, but it's just for aesthetics, and i can drop it at any point for people.
