Leonardo’s Selfie — Oil painting style composition I made inspired by and based on Leonardo da Vinci’s Self Portrait No. 2 LEONARDO DA VINCI was a 15th-century Florentine #renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, inventor, military engineer and draftsman. Today, a person working on so many different things would be considered insane. “You have to be focused”! Centuries ahead of his time, his works have influenced countless artists and engineers. He refused to separate between #art and #science, between observation and imagination. This “combinatory #creativity ” is a sort of genius that we can all strive for. In Walter Isaacson’s biography, #leonardodavinci is described as a comparably modern, but unconventional personality: “illegitimate, #gay, #vegetarian, left-handed, easily distracted, and at times #heretical ”. Would a young Leonardo today “be medicated out of his creative urges”? And maybe given #retalin or something stronger to fall into line? To be “normal”? Did you know that it was common for Renaissance humanists which rediscovered works by Plato, to celebrate “l’amore masculino”? Homosexuality became a fact of Florentine life. And it’s one of the things people don’t usually know about him. But why is that so important for me to mention here? Because we heterosexual “men” seemingly love to think that everything in the world has been discovered and invented by us. But it’s not true and that simple. We have to take lessons in #tolerance and open-mindedness because there are many examples of people like Leonardo who had a great impact on society. As long as people do no harm to you, you have to #respect (sexually) different people as they are. It’s true for everybody. We all have something to work on: to improve our personality. And let others work on theirs. Spread #love and #positivity and be encouraging where possible and needed. There is maybe one thing we can all learn from “non-heterosexual” people: the art of #freelove and to think out of the box, creatively, for a greater good. Be proud of being with people who have #pride #respectpride Background photo by Spencer Davis on Unsplash https://www.instagram.com/p/CI0PAPBnJlU/?igshid=mjco2eftwg8h
