Back to basics

The simple things in life '

The beach shack dotted our coastlines and beachsides for decades

They were our escape to escape from work and life in burbs.

If you were lucky enough, the Easter break was a visit to the seaside and a family holiday one of these shacks.

I remember a holiday stay in a two storey shack on Bribie Island as a child.

We thought we were very' lard di da ' staying there on the beach front as normally our holiday was a tent.

"Bloom "an artwork l started as a demonstration in classes this term1 'In the flow ' ##adultartclasses

I demonstrated the use of gesso to build textures on a canvas,a canvas that l had previously used for mono print surface.

Then l demonstrated how to use drawing inks and acrylic inks as well as how to glaze using gloss varnish.

It's all about the layers .

A patron who has supported my art practice for over 20 years has agreed to purchase before l finished it. Over the years, she has wandered my studio seeking unfinished works, and together, we have discussed the outcomes.

Feeling grateful and supported in my art journey.

Bit of sunshine on a grey day !

Often, consider a weed that grows in our grey concrete world, l could not go pass these blooms without recognising the joy they bring to what would be a very plain grey fence...Please allow them to grow as they feed the bees and insects as well as brighten up a grey day.

Well, it's been a while since l visited, so hello to all that view my page.It seems almost impossible to keep up with all the social media nowadays. Reachout ...you never know who's around the corner or right next door... Sharing is caring... There is always a community for each of us ,sometimes we just have to ask for help ,put it out the universe, your helpers will arrive at your door, when you need them. Recently l have been involved in a project with local Community group #Sandbags Community Centre. Its been a crazy exhausting ride but so rewarding. Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree, Laugh Kookaburra, laugh Kookaburra Happy as can be....okay so l can't remember to correct words but you get my drift. Nothing like a little brush with nature to lift the spirit especially after a busy week. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF....I am #walking in my #purpose. When l first start this journey as an #artist and art mentor my mantra was simple ... Believe in yourself ,there is nothing you can't do. The art of living ,and living with art ! 18 years on... l am still in the business of making art ,and helping others find their passion for art. The studio has not just survived but thrived # manciniartstudio Sometimes we have to remind ourselves where we started, we have to look back before we look forward . The journey or the path is a long and sometimes rocky road ,but when you look back you can see how far you have traveled . Sometimes when you look forward their maybe a pothole or a tree growing in your path or a hill you have to climb but remember to just take a breathe ,step over , walk around or charge up that hill with brushes blazing. Sometimes our obstacles are only our thoughts , sometimes they are put there to test us or perhaps others want to walk our path ,either way like most things in life there is always a way out around that obstacle . If a few weeds happen to pop up in your path then just stomp on them . At the moment there a few weeds growing around me and in my path ,but that okay because l have my STOMPING BOOTS ON...they won't be there for long... 'These boots are made walking and walking l will do , one of these days , these boots are going too ,walk right you!' This morning l spied the elusive Superb fairy wren, they are very flighty and hard to capture on the phone but l loving watching them go about their business. I think l have some nive fodder for a new body of work ,looking forward to seeing the art develop. A willy wag tail as well playing in the grass. Can you see the dew drops on the wire ,winter is coming.... To many these grasses are weeds but to me they are beautiful. Bluewaterfestival ,wow !!! a great success. Had a great time watching the children create their installations on the beach, a great result! As an artist its great to see one's plans come to life as the art facilitator #kimmancini Give them some sticks ,wool and feathers and off they go. Throughout the evening they play ,and changed the art , an evolving artwork . Well done!!!! #sandgatechamberofcommerce and all the marketeers, and volunteers.
