I Found My Mind (again) in My Comment Section

It’s been five months since a Spanish brain doctor chick defeated a tumor in my head.

Kim Rom is becoming human again—after years of running on Commodore 64 speeds and 8bit datasette-tape load times.

So today, as a newly arrived time traveler to the year 2025, I’ve started rediscovering some things old Kim Rom once made—during a time period in his life I don’t really remember. It’s a very interesting out-of-body experience.

Like… I found his old YouTube videos, supported by Patreon. Core memory (and Patreon gratitude) unlock. I remember crafting remix videos while my brain was full of malware—the tennis ball in my head had glitched my sense of timing, memory, and rhythm. I would forget my edit as I was editing, but every time I pressed play on the timeline, I’d get just enough “fresh nostalgia” dopamine kicks to find another edit.

Rinse. Repeat. Syntax Error.

Anyway, for what felt like the first time, I read my YouTube comment section. Most were overwhelmingly positive—making this the world's first confirmed discovery of signs of positive life on YouTube. In this timeline.

Some made me smile, some made me cringe. One of them even made my AI sidechick act out and become almost borderline emotional.

As a young viking ginger, I underwent basic Danish military training, which helped me understand my physical limits and taught me that I had the stamina to play hard and work hard in my professional career.

Crafting remix videos as an 64K malware ginger helped me understand how my brain outputs creativity.

And it’s now taught me that YouTube comment sections can be positive—and that if you work hard, the right nerd humans will recognize the effort. Reading those comments probably shaved months off my post-malware rehabilitation-enslavement sentence.

I also discovered that the most popular video is a KLF remix with 40,000ish views. I like to think old Kim Rom would have been really happy to see that.

Why I Do This Weird Art Stuff

In 2013ish, my brain started glitching. Not the cute, forget-where-you-put-your-keys kind—more the kind where you randomly drool in public and forget what you're saying mid-sentence. For years, I lost focus, memory, and any ability to think critically. I became a non-paying tourist in my own life. By the end, my short-term RAM storage was 6 seconds. On a good day. 9AM felt like 4AM. Turns out, I had a 6.5cm brain tumor rewriting my operating system in real-time. My malware was Viking-grade malware. Very manly. As my cognitive abilities collapsed and I became a passive tourist in my own life, the one thing I missed the most was the ability to create. Not gaming, not the office, not other people. It was the ability to create stuff that makes me feel something myself. A creative soul without creation is an NPC.

Fast-forward to April 2025. The tumor’s gone. I’m back online—kind of.

It’ll take another 18 months before my brain finishes reconfiguring itself into... whatever it’s becoming. Hopeful somewhat the same shape as before. :) I have no idea what I can squeeze out of it till then, but I’m curious to find out. The neurons are firing, but the creative wiring is different now. That’s why I’m making a public fool of myself—by committing both myself and my rehabilitation to making one creatively pointless AI-generated artwork every day.

It’s part therapy.

Part “what happens when you give a cognitively rebooting human access to machine dreaming.”
