I hope everyone understands, when I say “most endangered habitat on earth”, I mean temperate grasslands.

They’re more endangered than tropical rainforests, coral reefs, the arctic tundra, all of those go-to environments that get more of the spotlight.

Where I live, maybe 25% of the prairie remains in a natural state and that number is dropping. Even these fragments are mostly missing the keystone species that maintain their health, like bison, wolves, and prairie dogs. I know this is the case for other grasslands like the pampas and steppe as well. Vast lands empty of many species that used to call them home.

If you live on temperate grasslands, hold onto them tight, because they’ve been exploited like no other land and most people don’t even know how far the devastation goes.

Full view of the atoll where the Metkayina village resides! It is located 300 miles northeast of the rainforest where the Omatikaya live…Which is about 8 hours away by Ikran, including three one-hour breaks for the Ikran to rest.

I saw you made a post asking for requests!

So may I humbly request your take on what a desert Na'vi tribe would be like? Whether you want to draw it or just write ideas down, whatever you feel up for!!

ACTUALLY I WAS JUST GOING TO POST THIS

First of all, yes, they are not desert but savannah na'vi. But because most likely Pandora doesn't have any deserts at all, this is the closest that we can have.

So, about the savannah na'vi! I'm planning on creating like a system of savannah clans that would feel similar to lion prides. As you can see I already have a design for them: purple skin since na'vi get purple when tan, spots that grow into stripes (we discussed it with one guy that studies biology as a hobby and decided this pattern but I don't remember what was exactly the reason), curly hair, yellow-to-orange-to-brown eyes, little bioluminescence. And of course facial features of African people.

Each clan will have their own culture, I already have some ideas like: they hunt by riding these cheetah like predators and chase their prey at incredible speed, but only women can ride them! Women are the main hunters of the clan, men are busy protecting the village, cooking and teaching the eldest children. Some clans will use tar like substance to protect their teeth so their teeth become black. They love colorful clothes and colors in general so often they would paint themselves in bright paterns just to feel beautiful. Each clan has their own different way to style their hair. Curly hair is not a struggle but an opportunity!

This is most of the ideas I had but there's still a lot lo think about. Let me know if you have any more ideas!

And I think it is needed to say, na'vi clans are only inspired by existing human cultures, but are not meant to accurately represent them. Well at least my clans. I just would not want to hear something like "we are not like this you're not getting our culture right!!" coming from an African person. I am still learning about other cultures and I can't know everything. I just find those bits of culture that I see inspiring. Thank you for reading all this haha))

Hi everyone, just here to introduce my pretty girl, Saytsawke. She's my Avatar self-insert OC Jayden Sevenstar's toruk. She's such a queen, and I love her so much. She got her scar fighting for territory with another toruk before Jayden met her, and my favourite fact about her is that she could recognise Jayden outside of their Avatar before they permanently transferred their consciousness.

✮ olangi clan ! part of the nomadic na’vi group (horse clan) participating in the battle of 2154 against the rda. her clan suffered the most casualties — both her parents included.

✮ her main role within the clan is to collect poison and venom for her clan, and others: strategically fills a small bowl, never bigger than her palm, with a txumre’s [slinth’s] venom; or carefully stuffy a food’s contents and detect the most subtle hint of poison.

✮ not the best fighter or hunter — doesn’t claim to be — but she does have a one trick pony for both (with a weapon of choice). zìyal thrives with close combat, words spewed to rile her opponent, careful jabs sent to tire then out and drag the fight longer. the more it plays on, the bigger advantage zìyal has. when hunting, the woman relies on quick reflexes to make a quick kill: using bolas to stumble her target off their feet, grabbing her spear and killing her prey in a quick, merciful death.

My beautiful Savannah Na’vi inspired by the Himba (OvaHimba) tribe of Northern Namibia. I traded the stripes for a more cheetah like pattern.

Himba people, especially women, are famous for covering themselves with otjize paste, a cosmetic mixture of butterfat and ochre pigment. It helps to cleanse the skin and protect it from the hot and dry climate! The style of hair depicts womanhood. Often times the plaits of braids covering face in a veil like fashion will indicate a pubescent status, whereas women who wear an Erembe style show they’re no longer children

There's nothing quite as awesome as flying into the sunset with your best friend! Ey'ani may be a nervous guy, but he trusts Pìwopxtsyìp completely, and his caution and attentive nature make him a better rider.

I want to draw them bonding for the first time. I think Ey'ani took his time choosing a companion, and found a calmer but no less fierce ikran in the back of the rookery.

Oh lol, this is easy 😂.

1. My pets - I'm an animal lover (Zoology, duh) so even just looking at my cat and dogs gives me a serotonin boost.

2. My hyperfixations - Creating new/acting along with old OCs or (re)watching my favourite shows and movies are my favourite pastimes.

3. Being in nature - Urban settings can be super overstimulating, so going for walks in a nearby forest is my ultimate happy place.

4. Writing or Drawing - Nothing quite like sitting down, taking out my laptop, and just letting the creative juices flow.

5. Baking - I have a massive sweet tooth and i love any and all non-savoury flavours, so trying out new recipes and techniques is really fun for me.
