“What do we have here? The Calores! Just married and looking like a dream.”   Goddammit Davidson. Cal waved and raised his hand, politely acknowledging the round of applause after the singer's introduction.   “A little birdy told me you didn’t have your first dance yet.” Tonya winked. “The floor is all yours, honeymooners.”   Ouch! Five fingernails dug into his thigh under the table.   Mare leaned into him so he partially hid her panicked face from the world.   “We can’t,” she whispered furiously. “We never practiced. Do you know how much I trampled over your brother’s feet practicing? We’ll look stupid as shit.”   Cal found her sudden insecurity surprisingly endearing. He lowered his palm pressing it over the back of her hand, so tiny and delicate it made him lightheaded. Her nails dug deeper. Fine, maybe not so delicate.

I think there's a oneshot that sorta does that called Hungry and Severe (20k words of beautiful prose that will make you want to claw your eyes out like Oedipus) that led me down the path of accepting Mareven as a part of my soul. I don't know if you'd want to read it now, or ever, but from what I could tell it could possibly scratch that itch.

last night I was watching the MET gala when I saw this girl who was the embodiment of my perfect Mare fancast. I looked her up later, she is Taylor Rusell! She is not only of latinx descent, but also, she has already worked with Timothee Chalamet and Louis Partridge, my top two Maven fancasts. I have like a 6th sense for spot-on casting. Elizabeth Banks should hire me.

Of course, I’m okay. How else would I be calling you? Can’t a woman talk to her family without turning it into an interrogation?”   “You’re calling me from an unfamiliar number and your phone... Gisa had your phone. And it had a million missed calls from Maven before that woman, Elara, took it from us. Sneeze twice if you’ve been taken against your will.”

Curious why you're split on who Guilty as Sin? would be about for Mare. Is it the aggressive guilt part, or just the context of the rest of the album? (Granted I've already grabbed it for Mareven and squirreled into the trash can where no one can find me so I may be slightly biased in asking this question)

The guiltily horny part for sure. I have a one-shot in my mind from when I first read the books that I'll never write because it would suck for Mareven and Marecal stans equally about Mare's repressed desires and guilt, both intertwining so tightly they become a sort of monster in the attic. You know?... Well, that didn't make any sense I'm sorry lol. But what I'm saying is, there was a time when I used to think a lot about what it would mean for Mare after the war, when she's no longer in survival mode and fighting external forces, to never deal with the fact that she once chose Maven over Cal, and then was forced to kill him and her love for him in one fell swoop. She consummates one urge but never the other.

Like when Tathève Simonyan wrote:

Whenever someone tells me I contribute even a little to brighten up their day it adds to my lifespan 😭 I wish I had good tips to offer about blogging but honestly I just ramble a lot, mainly about RQ, and sometimes about what I'm reading. So I guess my tip would be to post whatever unhinged thoughts you can't hold back while reading something, and eventually, some other crazy bookworms will agree with you. That's the beauty of reading communities. Also, tag accordingly so others can run into your posts (don't forget to use "anti" tags too). Basic stuff really 🤭

Mare and Cal are both the jealous type, that's a fandom consensus for sure. I don't think Mare would directly address the person in question. The way I picture it (and the way I write it in my fics) is more straightforward, by having her grab Cal and suck face in front of the trespasser, or letting Cal deal with the person's attention because she trusts him. Then he has to shower her with praise and reassurance but just our girl being a greedy gf 🤭 .
