Smiley was yelling at them to stop, but of course—it never worked.

Monster: "DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT LITTLE KNIFE OF YOURS CAN HURT US!?"

She laughed along with her two friends.

"Go ahead then! If you think you're so tough! Do it! Just like all you humans thinking you're such smartass nerds!"

They were now surrounding Robin and Smiley.

Robin: "I'm not that good at fighting... but if you're hurting me and my friend here, then I’ll fight back!"

The leader of the group threw a punch at Robin, but Smiley quickly pulled him away and shoved them back a bit.

Smiley: "Please don’t do this! It's not worth it—he’s just a human!"

Monster: "HUMANS ARE JUST FOOD WITH NAMES! They're worthless compared to us with magic! HEY! GET THAT SHORT GUY AWAY FROM THE HUMAN!"

Smiley: "I'M NOT SHORT! I'M JUST... NOT AS TALL AS YOU GUYS!!!" (← He's like 130 cm.)

Two of them grabbed Smiley and lifted him up so he couldn’t help Robin anymore.

Two of them: "FINISH HIM, BOSS! KILL THIS HUMAN—MAKE HIM OUR FIRST MASTERPIECE AS THE ‘HUMAN HUNTERS, SECOND GENERATION!’"

Robin: "Uh—so you guys saw the first generation and thought, ‘Yeah, we can be just like them’? Are you all seriously chuunibyou or something?"

All of the monsters—including Smiley—froze in confusion.

They didn’t know what “chuunibyou” meant... but it sure sounded cool.

Monster: "Chuni... what!?"

While they were distracted, Robin slashed the leader in the stomach. Smiley managed to break free from their grasp.

Monster Leader: "THAT’S NOT FAIR!"

She screamed in pain, clutching her stomach.

Robin: "Oh, so you can feel pain, huh?"

He said it like he’d just made a discovery—that monsters weren’t invincible.

One of Them: "DID YOU JUST HURT OUR LEADER!?"

The leader covered her wound. Suddenly, some power lifted Robin by the neck. Another monster rushed to check on her, allowing Smiley to punch the one holding Robin and grab him away.

Smiley: "That’s enough! He’s not here to fight!"

Monster: "OH REALLY!? He’s still one of those humans who planned to genocide us all!"

Smiley: "THAT WAS TWO HUNDRED YEARS AGO!"

Robin: "IT’S NOT LIKE I WAS ONE OF THEM! DO I EVEN KNOW WHO YOU ARE!? NO! DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM!? ALSO NO! ARE YOU GUYS FUCKING CRAZY!?"

One monster snatched Robin’s knife away. The leader grabbed him again by the neck, ready to snap it. Robin kicked her in the mouth, making her bleed and drop him. Smiley caught him midair with a tentacle to keep him safe.

Smiley: "ROBIN, STOP ALREADY! YOU'RE JUST MAKING IT WORSE!"

Robin: "I CAN'T JUST STAY STILL AND LET THEM KILL ME! I JUST RAN AWAY FROM HOME—LET ME LIVE MY NEW LIFE!"

Monster: "Ooooh~ a runaway kid, huh~? What happened, punk? Got family issues? Boo-freakin’-hoo~"

*Robin went silent. That comment hit deep.

He never asked to be orphaned.

He never asked to be mentally broken.

He never asked to get lost in this damn forest.

And that bitch… just made him snap.*

He struggled in Smiley’s grasp as rage took over.

Robin: "ALL OF YOU ARE NO BETTER THAN ME, YOU PIECES OF SHIT! YOU DIDN’T HAVE GOOD PARENTS EITHER, DID YOU!?"

Smiley: "STOP! PLEASE! YOU'RE JUST MAKING THINGS WORSE!"

???: "HEY! STOP BEING SO DAMN LOUD! THIS IS A MARKETPLACE, YOU KNOW!?"

The sharp voice of an old woman rang out, scolding them.

Monster Leader: "Damn it, mom!!! I was just about to eat a human!"

Old Woman: "YOU IDIOT! Nobody does that anymore! It’s been TEN YEARS! You wanna start the human-monster war again!? You’re a grown-ass woman—get a grip! And you dragged your friends into this mess too!?"

The old woman argued with the leader until the gang finally gave up and left, grumbling.

Old Woman: "I apologize for Ruby and her friends… We didn’t mean to hurt you, dear. They’re just… childish and stubborn. Please forgive them."

Robin: "...Alright."

There’s a waterfall surrounded by glowing mushrooms, flowers with staring eyes everywhere… it's so dark, like night, even though it’s 10 in the morning.

Robin: Such a beautiful place… I haven't seen a place like this in a while…

Smiley: You've never traveled anywhere before?

Robin: There's nothing like this in my human city or neighborhood! But to be honest... I was too lazy to go anywhere. My parents never let me go out by myself in my free time anyway… only studying and sleeping at home until I got lazy to go anywhere on my own. :p

Robin: Any other places you’d recommend?
