A moment of realization was shared between the two apprentices before they raced to the door.

'Not yet,' Akutagawa's heart was running rampant against his ribcage. 'You don't get to end this just yet, after everything—,' Dazai was holding a gun aiming at someone—their blood on the floor. It didn't help seeing such a sight after that episode. 

He stood there paralyzed. Atsushi rushed in, grabbing the gun from their mentor; Akutagawa could see everyone else was crowding the staircase. As if hitting him all at once, his back hit against the staircase wall. One breath in, one breath out, trying to make it make sense.

'And you are useless to me,' Dazai's cold eyes locked onto his before firing.

"What are you doing here?!" Dazai expressed his words, which sent a shiver through Akutagawa and a chill through Atsushi, to whom they were directed. Finally, I noticed where the blood was coming from on the floor. Holding his arm was another man.

'Of course…' the mad dog thought.
