I kind of feel okay when having discussions with acquaintances about relationships now. I don't come out, I say I'm not interested in dating, and if they say "oh that's fine, if you meet someone in the future that's great but it's nice you're secure in yourself", then I'm happy to say "exactly". Not because I think I'll ever be any less aromantic or asexual, but because I've allowed myself to hold the belief that yes, someday I might meet someone just like me, or someone who is okay with who I am, and maybe we'll be 'together' in a way that looks like a normal relationship to other people but will be something else entirely to us.
