My sturdy American Giant Hoodie is falling apart....
Dear American Giants,
First I would like to tell you a few things about myself.
I was born in the early 70's and back then no one knew anything about the autism spectrum, it was invented only later in the early 90's. So it stands to reason why I was never diagnosed. But, not being diagnosed with something doesn't mean one doesn't have it. If you ever talk to my wife about me, she will swear to you that I'm probably somewhere deep into the dark orange part of that spectrum.
I am telling you all this in order for you to understand more deeply my fascination with clothes. Especially durable, sturdy, purposeful,  and generic kind of  clothes. Once I find such clothes I will use them till they wear out, than buy the exact same one again and again for the rest of my life. Currently this is true for my shoes, jeans, work pants, underwear and  a buttoned shirt, so you can imagine my excitement when I read Farhad Manjoo's  "This Is the Greatest Hoodie Ever Made" on Slate.com.
I ordered one on may/2013 and got it more than 4 months later. I was very excited and didn't care about the long wait too much. It was summer anyway. My wife kept telling me I was crazy, and once the rest of my family heard of my obsession with this hoodie, I became the target of their usual jokes. But still, I didn't care. I truly believed that the long wait and the high price of my durable hoodie will be worth it.   After all, this hoodie is granted to last for a life time!
So finally (finally!) the long wait was over, and my dark grey hoodie arrived in a little box with a beautiful american flag sticker. It arrived to Los Angeles, CA , just in time for the hottest September we've had in years. So I had to wait one more month till I had a chance to wear it. Can you imagine my excitement walking with my son to his day care, him wearing a grey baby gap hoodie, and me wearing the best hoodie in the world?
Well, today was the fourth time I wore the best hoodie in the world, so please try to picture my horror when while proudly strolling the streets of LA, I suddenly noticed that my hoodie was falling apart....see attached photos.
Help me.

23andMe discusses its patent for tool to calculate the odds of a child inheriting certain traits from prospective parents.
The DNA service 23andMe was just granted a patent that allow you to DESIGN your baby. (patent #8543339)
The link above is from their own blog.
Some quotes:
" The tool — Family Traits Inheritance Calculator — offers an engaging way for you and your partner to see what kind of traits your child might inherit from you."
"...used by our customers as a fun way to look at such things as what eye color their child might have or if their child will be able to perceive bitter taste or be lactose intolerant."
"Ultimately, 23andMe provides its customers with important information they cannot get any other way. This is information that allows them to make informed decisions about their health and the health of their family."
This next one is a quote from the 90's movie Gattaca:
"We want to give your child the best possible start. Believe me, we have enough imperfection built in already. Your child doesn't need any more additional burdens. Keep in mind, this child is still you. Simply, the best, of you. You could conceive naturally a thousand times and never get such a result."
The tools they are offering are still pretty basic, but the broad patent granted to 23andME is a glimpse to where we are heading in the very near future.

Leading up to Apple CEO Tim Cook's testimony on his company's dubious-if-legal tax strategies tomorrow, here's the report (pdf) members of Congress are up in arms about. 1. Almost all of Apple's foreign operations are run through an Irish company with no employees. The company told investigators that it lost all records concerning why Apple Operations International...
Apple Operations International, which provided 30% of Apple’s worldwide net profits from 2009 to 2011, doesn’t pay taxes anywhere!

This  is the reason that Google is accelerating away from facebook and apple. While they are tweaking the technology of tomorrow (graph search, TV!!!) Google is making Google glass, driver less cars and Artificial Intelligence (see Ray Kurzweil)
