To those saying boycotting tumblr is dramatic and that not everyone cares about porn blogs:

Staff gives zero fucks about porn. They care that the iOS app was taken off after not listening to the users’ pleas for them to get rid of MAPS, nazis, child pornography, porn BOTS and other harmful groups.

I don’t give a fuck that they’re banning porn blogs BECAUSE they’re banning porn blogs. I’m mad because they’re pussyfooting the problem and scapegoating through innocent users that just want to be horny. They’re not going after the problem, they’re going after things that have, honestly, held up tumblr in its lowest moments.

If they want to fix the site, they should listen to their users instead of banning people who have marked their blogs as explicit, denounce underage people on their blog, and have done anything they could to abide by the rules to not be taken down. Maybe it’s time that staff learns that the site won’t last if they don’t serve the people that use it.

Real fucking question: why doesn’t tumblr rely on it’s userbase as the initial reporters instead of an automated system?

So many people have expressed that they have flagged pornbots, cp content and neo-nazis only to receive no response in return. Tumblr should just scrap this whole automated shitshow, listen to it’s userbases reports and investigate those with actual people. This way we could eliminate a large chunk of actually harmful/spammy blogs instead of just playing russian roulette.

Nothing brings tumblr users together like times when the staff throws a grenade into the room and locks the door with everyone inside.

Like. I’m a firm believer that porn online shouldn’t be within kids reach (those “are you 18” checkboxes for life) but. Like. Ok first of all, just ban cp? It’s not hard? Cp is what got you into this mess just ban it. Second of all, you could increase the age of sign-up from 13 to 18. Third of all, you could do what deviantart does and just. Require birthdays at sign-up. If your blog is flagged as nsfw, you can’t interact with minors. You want to follow an nsfw blog? Prove you’re an adult. You’re an adult but don’t want to see nsfw content? Safe search (that actually works).

It’s not hard to make a functioning website, but staff doesn’t seem to want to do that.

Shoplifting actually isn’t a radical statement.

You DO actually hurt the low-wage workers, not the billionaire CEO/Owners of the company. 

Source: I’ve had my paycheck, hours, and job cut due to shoplifting on more than one occasion. I’m not the only one.

Also, you know who they blame first for large numbers of shoplifters frequenting the store or lots of product going missing? The staff. You know what they do if they think a few people on staff might be stealing? They replace all of them. Regardless of whether they can prove it. Yes. That’s totally legal.

Stop acting like your shoplifting is some radical anti-capitalist statement. It isn’t. You’re only hurting the very people you claim to support. SOME stores have a certain amount they expect to lose to shoplifting, but not all of them do. It can vary even within a company.

And yes, stealing food when your hungry IS different from stealing $500 worth of makeup because you wanted it.
