I put down everything in my head already here
The White Fang
What is your opinion on the White Fang plotline of RWBY? What are some things you think they did well and some that they did poorly? What things would you change?
(Please try to keep it civil)

Seems to me that the movement was doomed from the start. Or rather, that the just cause deserved better heads on shoulders than what they ended up with.
If we take Ghira as the example of the kindest and most idealistic leader that the WF has to offer, then…
Alright, so.
We can take it as read that at the most basic level, the cause's endeavour to end the likes of segregation - and the enforcement of fair wages, and parity of treatment by legal systems - this can be rolled together under plain terms, and summarized in saying they strove for their people to be considered equal in human spaces, and welcomed in them.
The problem I see is, where and what was meant to counterbalance this?
The fact their demands are morally right doesn't change the fact that they was a demand with nothing offered in return.
If they ask to be welcome in human spaces, would that mean humans get to be equal in faunus spaces? Are there faunus spaces in which humans could be equal? If the answer is no, then as faunus would get to be welcome in human spaces while also having their own spaces that humans aren't allowed in, then by function that would be receiving the benefits of segregation without the downsides.
I don't know how this is meant to be taken as much other than an unwillingness to deal with humans on even terms, nevermind having actually good relations.
Should we bring up how many faunus workers there are across the kingdoms, then the question needs to be asked - are they actually meant to be counted as part of the White Fang's cause? I'm not sure how the majority of people would appreciate having political activists make themselves out to be speaking on their behalf, with no input from them.
It may be a misnomer to call it a peace advocacy group, too. By plainly how it works, fundamentally just by being against the group saying they strive for peace, you get marked as hostile action against them. … what, exactly, was the intent behind that? Does that stance mean to get across that you can't even compete against a faunus without it being a hostile action? Did that come about from the very origin of faunus being warring against humans, if the legend of Bek is meant to be taken as fact? Where the creatures of the wild fought against humans who were enslaving them for combatting the Grimm, only for both sides to be blended into the same kind of existence? I'm not looking fondly at the notion that this is the way all interaction between faunus and humans should be looked at.
If all of that is the case, then faunus will forever refuse to see humans as anything other than an enemy. That will never bring about equality.
One thing that could have added depth in a big way is having made the WF a Populist movement. In American history, following the Civil War the Populists were formed as the result of American poor and ex-slaves coming together in the realization that the Southern Democrat neo-aristocracy were fleecing them both. In response, the ones who feared opposition of this nature brought about the propaganda campaign which birthed Jim Crow. The psychological bird, which lets you feel good with the words "At least we're not black." And so the newly labelled White Americans did eat of that bird, when dwindling wages left them with empty pantried. And when their thin children asked if they could afford new clothes - not toys to play with! - they were fed more of Jim Crow. The above are the words of Martin Luther King, and I don't reckon it's a good idea to overlook the spirit in which they had been written. It would be pretty strange if the civil rights (styled) movement on Remnant didn't have a similar thing going on.
Because I wonder; did the White Fang ever have any human supporters? Looking at the fact there were prior iterations of the WF, implied by the phrase "The White Fang has always existed in some shape or form", which I'm taking as read is stating that other groups had existed in history for the same purpose. Why would Ghira or his predecessors pass up essentially free support, traction and like minds?
Because if the group is faunus-only and focused solely on faunus issues, then they have to be marked down in history as ethno-activists. That, and a group which endeavours for the rights and welfare of all people in its nation, are not the same thing.
Circling back to the observation that the WF's demands came with nothing offered to make the deal worth taking, there does stand the argument can be found by plain observations; Faunus are institutionally discriminated against, in civilian sectors. This means they can be considered as being in poverty, like the ex-slaves and immigrants alike in history as well as the present day. Keeping them from parity of treatment - and from receiving equal support that a human would receive - means their labour does not let them receive the same result from the same amount of effort. With lower pay and lower resources and fewer means, being faunus does not make you immune to having less ability to withstand costs in society. It's everything from buying work boots/uniforms to affording medicine. Because they don't receive the same resources humans do, they are able to return less to the economy. Looking at nothing but the plain numbers gets me back to seeing the result of poor people staying poor because the ones who have the onus of paying them don't give them the same that law would force them to give a different class/race of worker. There were surely a bunch of humans who struggled to pay bills just like faunus did - and the fact that both sides of the species divide stayed that way is because the ones who had plenty refused - or were refused - to develop the people.
Maybe the White Fang would have been more understandable, and better supported, if they openly and tacitly named themselves - and acted like - a global counter-exploitation insurgency. How would it sound if their message was "Being human doesn't make you less exploited"?
I keep hearing 'Its not that deep, bro' It keeps on sounding like 'Stop bothering to try'. Brought to think that it'll stay that way, in the hands of people who don't want to be doing this kind of legwork. Basic stuff, just a lot of words put into it.

This is just funny that I had put this years ago... Clearer Ver.-
The White Fang was originally an organization formed after the war to advocate peace between humans and Faunus, but the Cycle of Revenge made sure such a thing would remain a pipe dream. With a change in leadership five years prior to the start of the series, the formerly peaceful movement has traded in its banners for bombs, and engages in wanton violence to perpetuate an anti-human agenda, with a particular vehemence towards the Schnee Dust Company. (Mostly Weiss.)

you guys are so annoying. why do i have to see discourse every year that's like "was tolkien really a woke king or was he your conservative uncle?" the guy was a devout catholic and a genteel misogynist who maintained lifelong friendships with queer people and women, and this isn't even paradoxical because that was part of the upper-class oxford culture he was immersed in. tolkien told the nazis to fuck off (and in doing so demonstrated a real understanding of what racism is and why it's harmful, beyond simply "these guys are bad news because they're who my country is at war with right now") but his inner life was marked by internalized racism that is deeply and inextricably woven into the art that he made. he foolishly described himself as an anarcho-monarchist, and it's kind of crazy to see people on this website passionately arguing that he likely never meaningfully engaged with anarchist theory, because...yeah, no shit, of course he didn't. tolkien didn't have to engage with most sociopolitical theory because as an upper-class englishman of his position, he was never affected by any of the issues that this theory is concerned with. what is plainly obvious from reading both his fiction and letters is that tolkien's ideal political system was that the divinely ordained god-king would rise up and rule in perfect justice and humility; he didn't want a government, he wanted a king arthur, even though (obviously) he was aware that outcome was impossible. why is it so hard for people to accept that he was just some guy! his letters aren't a code you have to crack. no amount of arguing or tumblr-level analysis is going to one day reveal a rhetorically airtight internally consistent worldview spanning jrrt's fiction, academic work, and personal writings, thereby "solving" the question of whether he was a woke king or your conservative uncle. his ideology was extremely inconsistent because, at the end of the day, he was just some guy.

I can't read the notes on this without pretending that someone in the WF during his early days put Adam onto this task as part hazing prank, part community outreach function and the man proceeded to gruel through an afternoon with an impressionist illustrator.
lol great stuff though
I decided to redo my tutorial. Still not happy with the straight-on perspective, but considering I did this in less than an hour, it's not awful.

Every last one of these is soul food
So, a question popped into my head... Have you considered who'd fill the space of the Seven Warlords for your RWBY/One Piece series?
I have given it some thought! At least a little. I may have to get new characters made to suit better picks! However...
First introduction is for Ms. Tock-odile, the Terror of Paradise!
Pirate Empress Robyn Hill!
Master of Malpractice Doctor Merlot!
The Tyrant, Hazel Rainart!
And finally the Heavenly Yaksha, Pyrrhus Nikoflamingo! The "benevolent" king of Argus.
Naturally they're joined by the World's Strongest Swordsman, "Hawkeye" Raven Branwen
And Sienna Khan of the White Fang!

I'm not sure if Sunless Sea without an ounce of Fallen London or any other game should count for this, but here is the Dragon-ification of how I picture my zee-captain.
Undertide is a no-brainer for a breed. Like how this game is a no-brainer for me in general; there are nasties, we are British, and the endless maw of fuel and supplies that is your boat will not stop just because of the former. Shoot Cthulhu's spawn in the face with your deck cannon, already, and move on! There are port reports yet to be collected!
Starmap, to signify all the false-stars of the Unterzee cavern roof. I combined Mint and Cyan to make my best approximation of Apocyan - the colour of the zee waves! Something you're sure to never forget. - and the black-and-red to indicate that I spend perhaps a bit too much time around the abouts of the Gant Pole. That is surely rust and mold.
Water is a no-brainer of an element. It surrounds us, pervades all things, hangs in the air, wants to exit your body through the bladder, and sometimes struggles to escape through your other orifices as well with no concern for their size. In fact, shame on you, humankind! Not even the Unterzee is free from pollution.
This was very fun! Many thanks and have a good one. EDIT: I found some pretty good music for encountering this one. Whoever wants to match him in Iron has a hill to climb.

An encounter is not the same as seeing the thing. I won't explain how.
"Detecting multiple Leviathan class life forms in this region. Whatever it is you're here for, are you certain it's worth it?"
i have a request for all of fallen london tumblr. but it is very stupid.

If only they felt the need to show, as opposed to leaving implications, just what made the WF get to the point of thinking "Yeah, taking up arms is the better way to go than trying to get through to them."
Noting again, the sum of anti-faunus racism we were shown was Weiss's attitude and Cardin's actions. And from only these, they went on into Blake explaining how she ended up being a juvenile insurgent.
Faunus are allowed to own businesses and property. They aren't arrested for walking down the wrong street. They're allowed to attend the most prestigious institutions on the planet - and they aren't forced into faunus-only teams. Or made to sit with their own crowd separate from humans.
I'm brought to reckon I fell into the trap of taking this as read with the justification of it being a world where creatures of darkness gather en masse to attack entire communities if there's negativity like what our world has, and so excusing the poor examples being disproportionate to the action taken.
It may be just a cartoon, but the setup remains plainly bad design. Handwaving too much of the like of this just isn't a good way to go.
anyways Adam would definitely punch a nazi
