Teacher Certification
So I am employed to start teaching at a charter school next year. Where I live you are not required to have your teaching certificate if you will be teaching at a charter school. I want to have my certificate so I am applying for a Post Baccalaureate program which I plan to complete while teaching. Thought it would be an easy enough application process. Just send my university transcripts with my application and I am done. Nope. There are essay questions.
It has been four years since I graduated with my degree and oh my god am I rusty on writing. The application has five essay questions which require at least 1600 characters per question. Would have been easy as pie four years ago when I was still writing essays on a regular basis. Now it is not so easy. I am struggling a bit.
I get why they have essay questions on the application, they want to filter out the lazy people who aren’t going to give their all to the program. And they want to see what drives us to become teachers. Totally get it. I am just frustrated at myself. I used to be so good at writing and now I am struggling to write a couple paragraphs!?
On the bright side, at least I am getting some practice in before I enter into the program. Just a friendly reminder to everyone out there who plans on going back to school after a break- it’s going to take some time to get your mojo back. But I will get it back, I promise you that.

My old lady, Lovey. She is a gorgeous Nebelung. I have no idea how old she is. She was an adult when my family adopted her. She is quite the mouthy girl but we love her very much.

Introduction!
Hello!
Thank you for joining me on my life adventure, I hope you enjoy it as much as me. Seeing as this is my first post I want to give you all some background on my life.
To begin with, I am a twenty-six years old woman. I am recently married to a wonderful man. We have five animals, three cats(a Nebelung, a Flame Point Siamese, and a silver tabby) and two dogs(a shaggy little mix and a Golden Retriever).
I graduated in 2016 with a BA in Anthropology and promptly got a job in a field unrelated to my degree! I spent four miserable years as a claims adjuster for an auto insurance company. About three months ago I quit my job to prepare for a career as a teacher! The outbreak of Covid-19 put a damper in my preparation plans about one week after I gave my notice. Schools closed so I wasn’t able to be a substitute teacher for the remainder of the school year. So I have been unemployed for the last few months. But there is good news as well! I was hired on to teach junior high Social Studies this coming school year!
Now I keep busy learning what I can about teaching, understanding classroom management and planning how I will organize my classroom. And baking. And playing with my animals.
So stay tuned, if you are interested. The future holds posts about my new teaching career, my cooking/baking experiments, and many animal posts.
