Me unironically circa 2011: I don't like the Romantic Relationship Between Keine And Mokou From Touhou Project because in canon their relationship is clearly moirallegience, and totally not just because my OTP for Mokou is with Kaguya, whose relationship with Mokou is canonically a kismesissitude.
Me in 2023: Ugh, did you really need to hate on people who ship something that differs from your OTP? And don't get me started on the excuses about your motivation.
Essay questions:
What two fandoms are being referenced by the OP's younger self? Are the two fandoms related in any way?
What is the primary reason why the OP's younger self dislikes the first ship mentioned?
Why is the OP's older self annoyed with her younger self? Does it have anything to do with which specific fandom is used?

Stupid question, but is there somebody who could help me with my homework. My autistic brain can't read the book. Like something about first person makes me feel wrong, uncomfortable, I've never been able to get into reading 1st person. Made school difficult. I've got to answer about an excerpt from volume 1, chapter 11. But I'm struggling to read the chapter, let alone the book, or figure out what the question wants of me. I just feel stupid for not being able to do something that secondary school students are supposed to do. And looking through the tag, so many people love the book, but I just can't read it. And it seems silly that my brain gets stuck on such a little thing as a book written saying I. Like I'm 30, surely I should be able to read a book in first person without it making my brain paralysed.

V for Vendetta Video Response
What is the movie’s primary statement about constitutionalism, the idea that there should be formal (written down) restraints on government?
The movie supports the idea of constitutionalism by portraying a country governed by a tyrannical administration that has effectively removed all restraints to its authority, despite the fact that historically England’s government does abide by the restraints of a constitution. A constitution is a formal document that sets clear limits on the powers of the government, and also defines the government’s structure. Such limits are designed to prevent tyranny and abuse of power by individuals within the government structure. In the dystopian setting of “V for Vendetta,” however, that constitution has obviously been abolished or else we are to assume that in this fictional setting it was never put into place. The primary statement then is that without constitutionalism, a government has absolute power over its citizens and can and likely will violate all basic human rights.
Can you point to any rights, found in our Bill of Rights (first 10 amendments to the Constitution), that are potentially violated in the movie? Provide examples.
In the first amendment– freedom of speech / assembly / petition – the U.S constitution states that congress shall make no law “abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press,” nor will it prohibit “the right of the people to peacefully assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.” The fist amendment is violated in several instances, as it would appear that the administration depicted in “V for Vendetta” does not tolerate any dissenters at all. The most vivid example of this is the administration’s reaction to Deitrich’s scathing satire of Sutler’s war against V on his television program. For mocking Sutler, Deitrich is seized in his home by the authorities, cruelly beaten, and then executed without any trial. This part of the movie clearly demonstrates the administrations disregard for the rights of its citizens, as in this scene it violates a whole list of rights found in our Bill of Rights: the fourth amendment – protection from unreasonable search and seizure, the fifth amendment – because Deitrich is deprived of his life without due process of law, the sixth and seventh amendments – because he is given no trial by jury or counsel, and the eighth amendment – because the punishment inflicted is obviously cruel and unusual. It is also implied that the same plethora of rights is denied to Evey’s parents, who were protestors that were “black bagged” just as Deitrich is, when Evey was still a child. Also, the fourth amendment is violated when Evey’s apartment is searched without a warrant, and lastly the ninth and tenth amendments are violated, as it would seem that no power whatsoever is reserved to the people. Additionally it doesn’t appear that any of the citizens are permitted to keep weapons, and it doesn’t seem likely that any consent would be required to quarter Sutler’s troops in any house, so it is probably safe to say that every single one of the first 10 amendments comprising the Bill of Rights in our constitution are violated by Sutler’s administration.
Do you think violence is a justifiable means for social change? Did the situations in the film justify?
Ideally, we should always avoid violence, and achieve social change through peaceful methods. The doctrine of Civil Disobedience practiced by MLK JR. and Gandhi seems to me the best method in most circumstances. If, however, the circumstances are akin to those portrayed in “V for Vendetta” then I think that the only means of bringing about change is through violence, as it is obvious that more peaceful methods had already failed. Evey’s parents for example both met a violent end despite their peaceful means of protest. Also, Deitrich was violently put down for his peaceful yet provocative social commentary. So, given the situation, the violent means that V uses to meet his ends are entirely justified. To clarify – yes I do think that violence is a justifiable means for social change. The situation portrayed in “V for Vendetta” clearly required a violent revolution; specifically, the corruption of Sutler and Creeley was so perverse that their murders were a necessary evil in order to achieve the social change that was called for.
In the movie, V says “people should not fear their government; the government should fear its people.” Discuss the meaning and implications of this statement. Do you agree with its message? Why or why not?
The meaning of this statement is clear enough. It expresses the sentiment that no tyranny (a government that people should fear) should exist. On the contrary, government should exist for the people, and should fear the dissent of those very same people, since they rightfully have the power to dismantle any government which becomes unfit to rule. This of course refers to the idea of the social contract, which is defined as “a voluntary agreement among individuals to secure their rights and welfare by creating a government and abiding by its rules.” The social contract is the premise for any government which is not a tyranny, and the flip side of the contract implies that while the people agree to abide by the rules of the government, that is only so long as it continues to secure their rights and welfare. If at any moment this government threatens the people’s rights and welfare (becomes a tyranny), then they have the right to overthrow it. I agree with this message because it supports the idea that is set forth in our own constitution about our right to rise up against our own government should it ever become unjust or a tyranny. It is the outlook expressed in just such a statement as this that made the American Revolution and the subsequent birth of our nation possible.
Discuss whether one should be obedient to the government, even when the government does things one finds morally objectionable. What are some actions-particularly non-violent ones-that one can take to express disagreement with governmental policies?
If the question is “Should I be obedient to my government even if it does things I find morally objectionable” then the answer for me is a resounding “No.” I feel that one is actually more patriotic by disobeying a morally corrupt government than by obeying it. It is our responsibility as citizens to disobey our government when we catch it doing something morally reprehensible. That is how social change is brought about. The most obvious examples of actions one can take to disobey an immoral government policy are those that MLK JR and his followers took to change governmental policies that allowed or enforced segregation and other bigotry. Besides civil disobedience, one can express his or her disagreement with the government’s policies through peaceful assembly, petitions, or other exercises of his first amendment right.

the fact that eric kripke isn't even christian really adds something to the way christianity is depicted on supernatural. because its really not about being christian at all, but about living in america, a country dominated by christianity, and having to decide for yourself how to handle that. faith is huge in supernatural, and the mythology of the show is very bible-centric, but notably, christ is never there. even sam, who starts out revering the angels, who once said he prays every night, doesn't actually call himself a christian or imply that he believes in jesus--the show is steeped in christianity and biblical lore and yet neither sam nor dean are christians. in fact, over and over again the church itself is depicted as a haunted house that sam and dean will only ever enter as strangers, as outsiders. priests, preachers, faith healers, chapels, crypts, etc. are all just iconography that create an intense sense of unease that sam and dean respond to instantly. as a jew, its very relatable. an essential part of living in america when you're not christian is that exact sense of unease, of knowing that the culture of your country has ensured that you'll get knocked over by christianity no matter where you go, that you'll see hundreds of people truly believing they're good people while doing awful things in the name of their god, and you have no choice but to confront that. kripke gets it

it's silly but the biggest reason why im not into t yet is bc im so afraid of losing my hair. do you have any solutions/tips for it?
first of all, i don’t think it’s silly — it’s natural to be worried when hair loss is talked about by so many people as like…one of the worst results of aging for men. listening to my dad talk about how much he hates balding definitely did not make me feel particularly good about the knowledge that i may very well be joining him someday. i’m not saying the fear is right, because i don’t think hair loss is something awful that we should avoid at all costs, but it’s an understandable fear given the beauty standards we’re working with, and it’s one that a lot of us (myself included) feel.
one thing that’s helped me is just…paying more attention to the guys that i interact with on a daily basis. i’ve learned two things from it: 1) hair loss is super fucking common. i’d say it’s much harder to find an adult man who isn’t balding at all than it is to find one who’s completely bald. and 2) if you forget everything you’ve been told about how bad hair loss is, you’ll realize that quite frankly, every single one of those guys looks totally fucking fine. it doesn’t ruin their appearance and make them ugly, it looks totally natural and isn’t really even something you’d notice if you weren’t looking for it. we put so much weight on it but it’s really just not that big of a deal. i’ll hear my parents talk shit about men in my family who are losing their hair when i didn’t even notice a difference last time i saw them. it’s one of those things (like so many other appearance-related things) that you really only notice at all because you’ve been taught that you’re supposed to care about it.
this isn’t something i’ve done personally, but if you really want to desensitize yourself to the idea of it, embrace the time-honored queer tradition of just shaving your whole damn head! find out what you’d look like without hair, find out how you feel about it and what you can do that makes you feel good about your appearance without hair, test the waters while it’s still a temporary change and not something permanent. that way, it won’t feel like this big scary unknown, and you’ll actually have a frame of reference for your feelings about how you look without hair rather than accepting the societal assumption that you’ll inevitably hate it. if you don’t want to actually shave your head, you could also just fuck around with bald filters or photoshop and see what happens.
oh, and if you’re attracted to men, keep an eye out for guys who are bald or balding and also hot as fuck. in my experience, there’s no insecurity or potential future insecurity that being gay for other men hasn’t helped me with. just off the top of my head, i can think of a couple actors who i think are absolutely fucking gorgeous who have helped me get over my fears about losing my hair. despite what our anti-aging-obsessed world might want you to think, there is no such thing as a physical feature that automatically makes someone less attractive, and while making attractiveness less of a priority in your life is good, it can’t hurt to also give yourself some proof that actually, you might lose your hair and look hot as hell doing it.
basically, entertain the possibility that it won’t be a bad thing at all! whether that’s just because it turns out to be a neutral thing for you or because you end up actually liking it, it’s not an inherently bad thing. i’ve ended up liking a lot of things that were “supposed to” be bad effects of t — i love the weight i’ve gained and the new shape it gives my body, i get a lot of gender euphoria from the fact that my acne is now on parts of my face that i saw a lot of guys in high school get it and i’m not complaining about the scars i get from it either because i’ve always liked the added texture that acne scars give my skin, and so on. i think there’s a lot of joy to be had in the changes we’re taught to fear, once we look past that conditioning and actually explore how we feel about it.
but if it’s something you really don’t want and you just want to improve your chances of not having to deal with it, it’s not like there’s nothing you can do! products like finasteride (oral) and minoxidil (usually topical but i think there might also be oral versions) are pretty commonly used among trans guys, for the purpose of avoiding hair loss and for other reasons, and there are plenty of other anti-hair loss products out there (though i don’t know how effective any one of them might be). if it’s a big enough deal for you, you can just decide that you’ll go off of t if/when you start noticing signs of it, since no longer having higher t levels would stop the process in its tracks. and if you don’t find prevention options that work for you so it ends up happening, you can always explore different hair styles (judging by the pattern of hair loss i see in my family, i suspect that keeping my hair long would make it less obvious if i started losing mine), find your preferred method of covering it when you don’t feel good about it (personally i love a good beanie generally and would probably wear them a lot more if i didn’t have hair to worry about because my main complaint is the way they press my hair onto my neck), or just shave it all off if you don’t like the look of the partial balding but don’t mind a shaved head. the point being — you have options!
at the end of the day, whether you go on t or not, you’re going to see your body change as you age in ways that aren’t always going to be attractive to others or aesthetically pleasing to you. that’s just the reality of having a body. even if you never went on t, you’d get older and you might see your hair thin out even if you don’t bald, you’ll see your skin start to wrinkle and sag in places that used to be smooth, your metabolism might slow or your body fat might start to gather in new places; hell, you might lose your hair for a totally different reason and end up in the same place but without the benefits of having been on t that whole time. life is full of bodily changes like that. transphobes will fearmonger about the permanent changes of testosterone all day long but the truth is, there is no escaping permanent bodily changes. whether or not you go on t, your body now isn’t the same as it will be in 1 or 5 or 10 or 20 or 50 years, just like it isn’t the same as it was at any point in your life before now. our bodies are never supposed to stop growing and aging and changing throughout our lives. there’s no guaranteeing that we’ll love every single change our bodies go through, but that’s okay! there are so many things in life that are more important than the way our bodies look. even if you go on t and lose your hair and don’t like how it looks, your life won’t be ruined; plenty of other things will bring you joy and more than make up for the insecurities.
just think about the gender euphoria and relief from dysphoria that t could give you. would losing your hair be bad enough to outweigh all of that? or is it just the pressure of a society that decided balding is bad that’s making you fear one single change despite how much joy you could have if you let that fear go? only you can decide if going on t is worth the potential downsides for you, but i suspect that for most of us, the benefits of going on t far outweigh the possibility of side effects like hair loss happening down the line.

Study Tip: Make It Up
This one was actually a piece of advice given to me during my study prep by someone else here on tumblr who had taken the test prior. But it was excellent advice and ended up coming in handy.
Try to study and learn as much as you can, but know that there are some things you’re not going to get to. If one of the things you skipped shows up (or you just don’t remember and your mind is blank) on an essay, as a LAST RESORT you can make up a rule.
As long as the law you create is reasonable and fitted narrowly to the question, and you can explain yourself as if that were a rule you learned, you’ll probably still get some points. In fact, sometimes “you reached a completely wrong conclusion but your logic/thought process are solid” can be worth as much or even more than “you reached the right conclusion, but how?”
Obviously, you don’t want to do this, and it’s better to apply the actual rules/law, but sometimes the reasoning is solid but you can’t put it into a simple rule statement, or remember exactly. That’s when to turn to this method.
And even if you’re really off-base, at the very least, you’ve done something and it’s better than leaving a completely blank question.

*deep breath in*
the fears 👏 have always 👏 been (in one way or another) 👏 parallel 👏 to 👏 desire 👏
let me explain.
so many of the statements given by actual avatars center around some sort of need that was met by their entity. Lots of them even had a positive relationship with the fear that drove them.
Jane Prentiss is an excellent example - the Corruption has always been about a form of toxic and possessive love, but she personally has a deep desire to be “fully consumed by what loves her,” and finds a perverse joy and relief at allowing herself to be a home
Jude Perry is another - she fucking loved watching people’s lives be utterly destroyed. The Desolation only offered her a power of destruction on a grander scale, and then gave her a more intense rush of joy as she did its work. When she tells Jon that he needs to feed the Eye before it feeds on him, it’s almost as an afterthought; she was happily feeding the Desolation long before it burned her into a new existence.
Simon Fairchild. Every time that old loose bag of bones wanders into the picture, he is having a fucking EXCELLENT time playing with the Vast. He loves showing people their own insignificance, and he loves luring them into situations where he can throw them into the void as he smiles and waves.
Peter Lukas (hell, the whole Lukas family (except Evan. RIP Evan.)) hated. people. all he wanted was for them all to go away, to leave him alone. The Lonely only fulfilled that desire.
Daisy, Trevor, and Julia, all devoted to hunting those things they deemed monstrous.
Melanie, holding tight to that bullet in her leg because on some level, she wanted it. It felt good, it felt right, it felt like it fit right alongside the anger and spite that drove her to success.
Annabelle Cane first encountered the Web when she was a child, running away from home in order to tug on her parents’ heartstrings in just the right way to have them wrapped around her little finger. Later on she volunteered to be the subject of an ESP study. Hell, she’s the one who dangled the “Is it really You that wants this?” question over Jon’s head in S4.
And that brings us to Jon, beloved Jarchivist, the Voice that Opened the Door. Ever since he was a child targeted by the Web, he was looking for answers. He joined the Magnus Institute’s Research Department looking for them, he stalked his coworkers in search for them, he broke into Gertrude’s flat and laptop out of desperation for them. And when he realized that all he had to do was Ask to get truthful answers to his questions? It was only natural for him to jump at that opportunity.
Elias told S3 Jon that he did want this, that he chose it, that at every crossroads he kept pushing onwards, and the inner turmoil that caused was one of the focal points for Jon’s character through the rest of the podcast.
There’s a certain line of thinking in many circles about the power of the Devil: he’s not able to create anything new. All he’s able to do is twist and warp that which was already present, making it something ugly and profane while still maintaining the facade of something desirable.
Jon didn’t choose the Eye. But he did wander into its realm of power, exhibiting exactly the qualities it was most capable of hijacking and warping to its own ends. Jon didn’t choose the Apocalypse. But Jonah picked at him little by little, pointing him towards each Fear individually. Jon didn’t want to release the Fears. But the Web tugged on his strings just so and laid a pretty trail for him to follow until he reached its desired conclusion.
Jon didn’t choose ultimate power, or omniscience, or even his own role as Head Archivist. But he said “yes” to the right (wrong?) orders and kept on pushing for the right (wrong?) answers. He wanted to succeed at the work he had been assigned. He wanted to protect his friends. He wanted to rescue them when they were lost. He wanted to prevent the apocalypse, to save the world. He wanted to know why he was still alive, when so many had died right in front of him.
The Great Wheel of Evil Color that is the Entities might not fit as neatly into categories in this universe - maybe there was no Robert Smirke trying to impose strict categories on emotional experiences, or maybe the ways they manifest in the world has turned on its head (goodness knows many of them have been showcased and blended in some very fun and new and horrifying ways so far) - but their fundamental foundations seem to be the same. Hell, in episode one we learned that there had been enough individual incidents to create a distinction between “dolls, watching” and “dolls, human skin.”
Smirke’s Fourteen isn’t going to be relevant as common parlance, RQ said that already, but I don’t think that means the Fears themselves (and their Dream Logic-based rules) are different - I think it means that the levels of understanding, language used, and personal connections among people “in the know” are going to be entirely unfamiliar

DP x DC ramble: Types of power
Now, in this particular fandom, there’s a tendency to make an OP Danny
That’s a neutral statement, a lot of people just happen to like and post OP Danny
For the most part, not my taste but it can be fun in some contexts, but overpowered Danny isn’t my default
Now, Danny is physically strong. His abilities are combat focused and he can hold his own in a fight. He probably has a little less physical strength than you’d think since he uses gravity nullification to lift heavy things, but it’s impressive regardless. He has a goodly variety of offensive and defensive abilities that make him formidable is a fight
But the strongest characters in DC aren’t necessarily strong in that way
Superman is physically very strong, incredibly powerful, but he’s still nowhere near the level of the actual strongest characters, because their power is a very different type
Like I’m talking reality manipulation, omniscience, abilities that involve power over people’s very souls (and a ghost is a human soul) and where they end up. Psychopomps and some much more. I’m talking about beings that can mold the flesh of humans to remove something like a cancer and repair damage with barely a thought
And they’re mainly held in check by rules, mostly just being polite, sometimes Divine laws
This is a type of power Danny is not equipped to handle
It’s a very different game than Danny is playing. He can physically throw down, he might have an army if it’s Ghost King AU, but this is “can kill you with a literal snap and the snap is just for dramatic effect” territory
Danny is playing high school American football, these characters are playing Professional soccer aka what every other country calls football
It’s a very different game, and if he’s trying to play with them, he’s going to struggle
And that’s fine, he can still be OP and not be playing on the same field as Lucifer, or the Spectre, or various demon lords and so on, because it’s a different kind of power
But just arbitrarily saying he’s more powerful really undersells why they are powerful. Being able to punch good is not the same as a character that can just send him to the afterlife. Someone being able to reshape Danny’s body at their will isn’t going to be concerned about his ecto blasts
A Tuna is a big fish, but the ocean is VAST and DEEP
All this to say you’d have to drastically alter Danny’s actual power set to make him able to compete, otherwise you’re just de-powering the actual strongest characters, which is less impressive since it missed the point of WHY they were strong
Just because you can solve a sheet of math problems doesn’t mean you’re going to be able to ace a three page essay on the poetry of Keats
This has been my thoughts on the matter, be sure to grab a souvenir from the gift shop
Also just going to sneak this in:
Danny should probably be more concerned about magic users
Magic clearly can affect him, just look at the Freak Show incident from season one, that’s not even getting into the reality gauntlet. Now add in the fact that there’s a variety of magic items/artifacts in DC and a slew other of magic uses and occultists that can summon and bind ghosts, spirits, and demons to do their bidding
Danny is firmly in the category of beings that magic specifically deals with, he should probably be a bit more concerned about magic users

Okay, somebody can correct me if I'm wrong- but at the end of The Nigerian Job, when the team was convincing Nate that they should keep doing what they did- Eliot's whole argument was Nate. Nate falling apart. Nate needing the chance. Nate not being able to walk away. Nate.
Then, suddenly Eliot became the whole team's body guard. (Something he's grunt and gruffed about.) Yet. Yet. Somewhere (I say it was The Iceman Job and The Inside Job,) Eliot's brain switched from protecting the team to protecting Hardison and Parker. (Again correct me if I'm wrong.) Suddenly his job became more about having Hardison and Parker's back than having Nate's back. Maybe I'm the only one whose noticed- but Eliot become more softer with both Hardison and Parker after those particular jobs. Sure he keeps that gruff, sarcastic wit about him but there's often tones of... protectivness(?) when he interacts with them. Almost like he's telling other people around them- whose in ear shot- that Hardison and Parker are his. Like he's possessive.
Now, I'm not saying Eliot just stops caring about the rest of the team. I mean- he beats up Sterling for Nate and in Redemption Eliot is following Sophie around a handful of times. Their are even times where he has Breanna's back and Harry's. But he seems to treat those situations like a case. He compartmentalizes those situations. With Hardison and Parker- he doesn't. It's like his brain won't let him. He sees Hardison and Parker and it's like- all bets are off.
And on the flip side- has anyone noticed that Parker and Hardison seem to be the only ones that know how to... defuse (is that the right word?) Eliot? Like even Maria couldn't get Eliot to relax in The Hurrican Job. (Of course that's probably because Eliot was hiding who he was to her.) But Eliot always seems to be more relaxed when he's around those two.
In The Iceman Job after when Hardison tries to hug him? Eliot wasn't really fighting it. (I would know- I do that to my brother ALL the time when he tries to hug me.) In The Inside Job- when Eliot went to attack that employee- Parker stopped him. In The Double-Edge Sword Job, when Eliot is furious because an abusive ex comes after a women that they tried to hide- it's Parker that calms him down. It's Hardison who pays off the bartender when Eliot attacks Sterling. It's Parker who is always by his side or close to it. It's Parker who trusts Eliot when their in the back of the van with Vance. (Yes, Parker trusts Hardison too, but Hardison is a hacker- not a protector.) It's Eliot who Hardison listens to when he's not confident. It's Eliot who grabs Hardison from the coffin. It's Eliot who crouchs behind Hardison as Parker flips around him. It's Eliot whose hands are shaking when he they have half a second on a bomb.
Eliot Spencer is Hardison's and Parkers. They own him. In the same way Hardison and Parker are his. He owns them. (Does that make sense?)
For the record- I don't know why I'm pointing all of this out. It's just interesting to me... I guess.

don’t know if you’ve realised yet, but the replay top lando’s wearing is actually one of martin’s custom made ones, meaning lando must have literally stole it off him! look on replay’s post here: https://www.instagram.com/p/C0PNBRFMiQ9/?igsh=MW9oNXZyNzRlbmY1dQ== and then martin’s vegas post here: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cz4RDhONoNk/?igsh=anI0cW1hcG42Ymxv it’s 100% the same one!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
lumping these all together because you can see why and I'm glad we're all on the same page about this
THIS being the shirt in question
Tumblr media
NOW we see that it is, at first glance, Martin Garrix merchandise. a black tee, a Replay collab, a cool shirt for Martin playing Vegas - the back is even cooler, Martin wearing this at the Vegas GP
Tumblr media
so one might assume these are a limited line or something, except, as these lovely anons point out, this was custom. made.
a one off. one for Martin none for anyone else. not available to purchase. belongs to one man only. UNTIL
Tumblr media
first thing of note, the fit. very similar to how it hangs on Martin yes? second thing of note, Lando is known to be a man with a 'shared wardrobe' - we have motive, now let's look for opportunity shall we?
Nov 20 2023 - Martin's insta post for the Vegas GP, we see the back of the shirt and we see him wearing it when he's having a Moment ✨ with Lando before the race
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dec 8 2023 - Lando's insta post of the first leg (the first cold leg) of the Norrix World Tour, what shirt is Martin wearing? THAT one, thus we can conclude it was available to Lando's grubby little hands during their trip/s
Tumblr media
Jan 4 2024 - Bali ~ Jan 8 2024 - Perth
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jan 17 2024 - Finland ~ Feb 3 2024 - Vietnam
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the point of this? illustrating just how much opportunity Lando would've had to steal this shirt UNLESS
Martin gave it to him, which has a whole load of connotations that might just end me 🙃

I used to talk about this a lot but
IDW Prowl is probably one of the most complex characters in the comics and I absolutely hate it when hes reduced down to “the asshole character”
Cause like
Yeah sure hes got a bit of a stick up his ass
But I feel like people just end there analysis of him there
Has he committed a lot of war crimes and done unethical stuff
Yes
But so has literally EVERYONE else in this universe
Starscream is literally the pinnacle of war crimes
The comics make a point calling out even Optimus for his questionable actions and orders during the war with the Dinobots saying he makes them do the dirty work for him
Megatron literally commits genocide and yet his story ends with an alternate version of him going free and exploring the universe with the LL
The literal war lord was treated better and is looked upon more positively than Prowl and I think it just came down to how fucked Prowl got by the writers
Because while Megatrons redemption was all in your face and you got a shit ton of flashbacks that try to justify the eventual atrocities he would commit you don’t get that with Prowl
Even when Prowl is absolutely in the right you constantly have it disregarded by characters making jokes about him overreacting (being mad OP is sending the space tyrant away with free reign of his own ship isn’t overreacting btw-) and as such you start to think of him as a genuinely irrational character when hes not
Prowl is bad at keeping the relationships he forms yes
But he is not always at fault for that
While his relationship with CD ended poorly Chromedome is also shown to be kinda of a dick sometimes and commits his fair share of fucked up things such as when he literally ATTACKS PROWL AND FORCES HIS WAY INTO HIS MIND TO PROTECT HIMSELF FROM THE CONSEQUENCE OF HIS ACTIONS WHEN PROWL THREATENS TO TELL REWIND ABOUT THE SHITTY STUFF HE DID IN HIS PAST
This leads to Prowls inevitable snowball out of control when this attack leads to an opening for Bombshell (I think its been a while since I read the comics) to use his tech to mind control him forcing him into combining with the contructicons
Something we learn is an immensely intimate thing with their minds being kinda melded
This was something Prowl did not want
And when all was said and done and he was calmed down he still had to live with that gesalt he was forced into with them following him around like fanboys
Nobody ever even really stopped to check in on him
And as such he understandable went a little bit insane
He had just faced an immensely traumatic invasion of his body and mind and on top of stress form feeling like everything was out of his control and like he couldn’t stop the bad things from happening alongside bitter emotions being brought back up with a return visit to Earth and reunion with spike AND the fact that he feels like Optimus doesn’t trust him and like hes just letting Starscream do whatever he want (something that understandably freaks him out seeing as how he spent 4 million years fighting Starscream) he just kinda snaps
He trys to destroy the space bridge so that no one else can leave or get through and so he can regain some semblance of control
Is it wrong
Yes
But he was not in a good state of mind and no one was helping him at all
And immediately following his arrest afterward Prowl is confronted by OP who is supposed to be his friend and when Prowl doesn’t say the right things to him to placate him Optimus’ response is to punch him out a window and beat the shit out of him
And not being given any room to breath this is immediately follow up my him getting kidnapped by Tarantulas who is very obviously an impactful and negative part of his past
Prowl just has bad event, one after the other, happen to him over and over again and not only does no one check up on him afterwards to see if hes okay but everyone actively makes fun of him for being understandable unstable
Prowl is a fucking tragedy and not many people seem to be able to see beyond what characters in the comics think of him
