Ik you said AMA about Emil and Annie but I feel like I'll just melt into incoherent ramblings.

The writing and characterisation is soo good. It's also a bit funny how Emil, in that one scene where he said he felt like he was babysitting [Valravn], was like, this immortal took part in killing your family but is somehow more of a mess atm? Btw the entire, soul walk section made me go crazy insane bonkers. (Also, the Lopter being kinda Valravns toxic ex was galaxybrain. I divorce ship them(anti ship them? Idk. If it was a mundane AU I'd encourage Valravn to get a restraining order but those don't exist or would work with Immortals I assume so murder it is.)

I am Very glad that in the dark route Annie stops Emil/Valravn from eating Patience... I felt SO BAD for everything Patience and the huntresses were SUCH a hateable villain faction. Like, propaganda, they're not there to help but to control, but some crave such order in chaotic times, the hypocrisy and bias... I was genuinely upset af at some of their dialogue, same with the NPC's agreeing with them... The fact that so many NPC's also went through arcs is such a neat detail, and of course not everyone will change for the greater good in times of fear.

Also to tell you the truth I sometimes pronounced Emil's name like how the dad yells in Emil i Lönneberga which completely derailed conversation with my sibling in the moment (who actually played the game, I was doing the little sibling thing).

Annie is so. Shonen protagonist going through hell coming out on the other side somehow better off (still having suffered but like. Got catharsis?)? Like, baggage was shed(and piled up but now with new support) and she managed to forge and deepen bonds and AAAAA she deserves a vacation... I Know she also went out to do vigilatism and help fellow witches, but by god she deserves a week or more chilling at a nice warm beach... Maybe on her way to the temple with Bianca, those girls deserves a nice beach picnic date <3 . Knowing Annie she'd find and solve some weird conflict, or perhaps it'd find her and she takes it by the horns.

Actually I guess I got an actual question that's not the ravings of a lunatic, Annie has expressed an interest to the beach, or at least the idyllic one in the cinema, but is that her ideal vacation? And what'd Emil's ideal vacation be?

Some (all?) of his info leads to stuff, but i don't understand how the names in the aqueduct work, inspecting them yields no extra info? do i do something w/ the water? same for the leaf w/ wind. am i just supposed to wait for a specific weather? hint pls i'll draw fanart (i will do so regardless)

I've finally reached the stage where I can translate the boktai fan comic I once drew into English, so I've started translating it.

I've been waiting for an opportunity to post this bit of dev trivia but I don't think that opportunity's going to ever come and since it's been over 6 months I might as well.

(spoiler for kura5's twilight route under the cut)

The scene after the final boss' defeat in the twilight route was the first big cutscene worked on for Chapter 5. A music track wasn't made for it yet so music from Turn A Gundam was used as temp, and then eventually used as inspo for the final track.

Specifically it was this shot that was the first one made:

Speaking of twilight route, I knew that Annie and Emil needed to go a really big combination attack to finish off Loptr for good, but I had trouble with the timing of it so I used a combination attack from SRW A Portable as reference.

I thought that the way the Master Gundam and the God Gundam moved around felt like it fit Annie and Emil pretty well so it was a huge help.

Here you can see some of the progress of it vs how the final thing turned out.

Finally, if anyone ever wondered this yeah the twilight screen is Angel Cop.

...I'm gonna be honest my only relation to Angel Cop was learning about it via childhood exposure to Bennett the Sage and I continue to not really want to watch it

even so I stared at the ED when figuring out how I could get away with the laziest parallaxing possible. Sometimes with art you reference what you gotta.

Semi repost from bluesky, around chapter 5 ish of kura5 I started using blender to block out cutscene animations because there was a ton of character acting that required them to interact with each other which is kinda hard to do in 3d videogames. I'm proud of this one in particular.

because pride parades always happen in the summer I like to imagine the boktai cast walking in one wearing those rainbow leis and also crossdressing
