If you're lamenting the fact that you used to be able to shoot through a 500-page novel in like a day when you were in middle school and now you can't, it's worth bearing in mind that a big part of that is because when you were in middle school, your reading comprehension sucked. Yes, mental health and the stresses of adult life can definitely be factors, but it's also the case that reading is typically more effortful as an adult because you've learned to Ponder The Implications. The material isn't just skimming over the surface of your brain anymore, and some of the spoons you used to spend on maximising your daily page count are now spent on actually thinking about what you're reading!

Another AO3 app that's pretending to be official when it's not (or at least isn't making it clear its unofficial.) They're using AO3's name and logo, and embedding ads.
There is no official AO3 app
Someone else is gathering your data, potentially your log in information etc and making use of it how they please. (They say they're not but their privacy policy says otherwise)
They are making money from the ads without the fic writer's consent.
They've also rated it Pegi 3 (which is ludicrous)
Please, even if you care about nothing else, for the safety of your data, please don't use this app. Certainly don't give it your AO3 log in details.
I've told AO3 that it's infringing on its copyright. I will be requesting they remove access of my work as I do not consent to my creative content being used to generate ad revenue for them.

Someone may have already answered this about Marcille and half-elves, but I don't remember the source for full-blooded elf aging myself (I assume it'd somewhere in the Adventurer's Bible), so half-elf information is what I can add for you.
According to both in-text Dungeon Meshi Canon and the Adventurer's Bible, half-elves don't have *delayed* aging compared to full-blooded elves so much as they have less consistent, predictable, and *stable* aging. Marcille's age is somewhere in the late teens to early 20's range because her half-elf nature aged her slowly at some points of her childhood and quickly at others -- despite her expected lifespan being longer than a full-blood elf. Thistle being a teenager at age 80 could probably be a result of his full elf blood giving him a smooth, stable aging process in comparison to a half-elf.
The way races age is something that most characters in-canon find confusing and need reiterated a few times, so it makes sense that us readers and viewers will also need to double check ourselves and/or clarify things when it comes to this topic. I'm not even sure my own information about full elves is correct, I focused more on half-elves because I find Marcille's mortality-related motives to be compelling and unstable age rates to be fascinating from a worldbuilding perspective.
i dont think ppl understand that thistle is a good example of the “1000 year old kid” trope. it was used right, it makes such a good allegory to the adultification that happens with brown kids. everyone around him ASSUMED he was an adult and gave him adult responsibilities, and it backfired tremendously. but the thing is people in this fandom are so ship brained it flies past people’s heads so they do shit like ship him with an adult like laios or his brother.
he’s not a *literal* child but there is a reason why kui has deliberately drawn him several years younger than his first appearance lol. even his tallman form looks like a child, whereas short elves like fleki and otta look like adults as tallmen
remember, wrt full-blooded elf aging 80 year olds are equivalent to 16. if thistle was brought into the castle when he was 20, and delgal was 40 by the time the dungeon was made, he’d be 60 at most

every time i start to feel cringe for being too deep in the hyperfixation i remember the intense depression i have waded through and have to remind myself that enjoyment is fleeting (so grab it with both hands), and life is for loving (so hold that love close), and if anyone thinks i’m cringe they must not be having a very good time (and i hope they can find a good time soon).

#questions#this feels like a poll so I'm answering in the tags like one#apparently that's what my brain allows me to do with Tumblr these days#this and little else#regret about executive function issues and brain rules and productivity app blockers aside#I use my headboard in place of a nightstand because it has a few built-in cubbies#so I keep kind of a lot on there#I have a cubby for my Allergy Attack Defense Tools (tissues)#I have a cubby for my Mental Wind-Down Tools (handheld game consoles)#I have a cubby for my phone where my sleep headphones also live#then on top of those cubbies I have several more things#one thing is a coaster for my water bottle#the next is the controller for my electric blanket (except in Summer)#after that is my eczema treatment#then my glasses (when I'm sleeping) which may or may not have a book under them#and finally a plush dog I made at Build-a-Bear as a kid who recently made her way out of storage#her name has evolved like so#Salty (for dumb kid reasons) -> Nori (for pseudo-pun reasons) -> Nettle (for arbitrary “it suits her” reasons)#the plush lineup can change sometimes#from one to several to none at all#but she's the one up there at the moment#Nettle the Build-a-Bear Collie Dog#she had a son once#there's a magnet in the bandana around his neck and another in Nettle's tongue so she can carry him#but I think he's lost in storage#and we're gonna say he... uh... went off to boarding school#or something#lore-wise#for Nettle's sake#also typed this whole set of tags and realized I am probably not Ky but I'm answering for him while co-con with him so take that as you will

#polls#interesting timing#I've been seeing some people talking about the physical weight of their chests#and while it's hard to quantify the decidedly impactful emotional weight of mine#the knowledge that I could one day get them removed#and find out how much they weighed#is oddly vindicating#also to answer#they're big#the kind of big that gives me minor back pain#even if I wasn't a trans guy I'd still probably want some kind of reduction for that pain#or at least a better support than the binder that crushes my ribs#I don't use anything that gives actual support these days because of the overwhelming dysphoria#but if that wasn't a factor#I like to think I'd find a way to appreciate their size#or reduce them to a size I could appreciate#as it stands now#the ideal chest size for me is none#I mean I understand there's fat that goes to the chest even without breast tissue involved#and I know developing muscle can raise a chest from flat to not-flat#but I want no breasts#none#and instead I have DDs#that are classified even larger by some brands#and it sucks#makes me wish I could give a pair of equivalent size to someone who actually wants them#cause they're great for the people who feel affirmed and happy with them#just#not me

#polls#birds#the secret option is that I don't want to have favorites#and the top spot on my favorites list often shuffles#but the favorites list does exist despite wanting to love all birds#and also technically my own birds are my favorite#but I assume this is about species and not the individuals who live with me#the list is split into wild and domestic birds because of them#although corvids often top the wild bird list and they're sometimes domestic#and budgies are high on the domestic list because of my budgie roommates but they aren't technicallu suited for domestication#and emus go on the domestic list only because I associate them more heavily with my parents' emus than wild ones#red tailed hawks and owls are on the wild list but raptor hunters domesticate them and train them in hunting#chickens are probably the only birds that truly and fully fit on the domestic list tbh#everything else is... contextual

Things I’m learning about All For the Game fans: a lot of y’all didn’t grow up with a cheese drawer in your fridge and it shows
#polls#food#cheese#technically it's a meat and cheese drawer#but it has various types of cheese#my sister stopped having one when she moved out#because she has the energy and desire to just buy small cheese blocks and cut or grate what's needed#our parents like cheese a lot more than that#and specifically our dad and I don't have the desire or energy to prepare our cheese according to its purpose#and we're both picky#so the different sliced cheeses for different tastes and the shredded cheese for general use both go in the meat and cheese drawer#along with lunch meats and snack meats and the occasional string cheese#some other stuff gets included there sometimes but it's mostly used for that dedicated purpose#makes it easier to make sandwiches (which I do often as one of my safe foods) when the ingredients are easy to find#but it's not just wheels or wedges of cheese taking up a whole drawer on their own#it's an organization thing#... though we do live up to the white people liking cheese stereotype#I'm wven lactose intolerant and I still support our cheese purchases as a household
