You know what Good Omens does NOT get enough credit for? How it never, not once, makes gender presentation the butt of a joke.

Crowley presenting as female to be Warlock’s Nanny? The way this was filmed, acted, and written wasn’t made to be funny whatsoever. She was stunning, I loved the hat!

Pollution using they/them pronouns while the postman used the gender neutral honorific of sir for them? What’s there to make fun of? They’re royalty.

Archangel Michael, who has a traditionally male name, played by a female actress? Never questioned.

Lord Beelzebub’s androgyny? Only respect for the Lord of Hell.

Aziraphale sharing Madame Tracy’s body? Crowley recognized his angel and accepted it no problem. He was right about the dress too, it did suit him!

Crowley’s pure, unfiltered non-binary/gender-fluid energy in general? Fucking fabulous. Who could seriously make fun of this demon’s style? As someone once pointed out to me, you could swap him with Tilda Swinton and I’d see no difference. What an icon.

Good Omens is the first big show I’ve seen to basically avoid transphobia all together when the opportunity presented itself, and even say fuck you to the gender binary as a bonus. If the biggest binary in all the universe, Heaven and Hell, don’t give a damn about it then why should you?

That scene where Aziraphale and Crowley get shot with paintballs is even more hilarious in the book because of the way it’s dramatized like these idiots get shot and we immediately cut away to an explanation of how Sister Mary Loquacious came to be a successful entrepreneur and when we get back to the ineffable morons Crowley has sunk to the ground, dramatically leaning against a statue and Aziraphale has straight up fallen over on his ass and stays lying down until Crowley, after a quick contemplation of how inconvenient it is to get discorporated at a time like this, realizes Shenanigans are Afoot, tastes the paint and crawls over to him to be like “hey Shenanigans are Afoot” like the adaptation gives them too much dignity in this scene when they both legit thought they were dying for at least a full minute

Frogged the hat and caked up the spaghetti yarn. There's something so *satisfying* about yarn cakes. I swear when I measured the first four rows, it was the right size. I dont know what happened between that and this. (It should be the same size as the rainbow hat beneath.) But it's fine. I'm not in love with the way the texture came out. It was supposed to be a herringbone pattern. And that doesnt come through at all in these photos, and not much better in person. I really like the way the cables draw down the hat between the ears. Accentuates them rather nicely. First hat I've finished off in (double checks) two and a half -- almost three -- weeks. Wow. Had a lot going on. Work being extra stressful has had me just exhausted constantly. And I let myself get hung up on that blue hat that just wasnt working out for me. I'm not the biggest fan of the main stitch, but I couldnt fine a better compliment to the cables that didnt misshape them or distract from them as the main design. But I think that's mostly just because I'm not a fan of DCs. Still gotta add the pink and then do the other side. These cables are fun to make. I think this hat is gonna be really cute.
