It’s just like that old saying, “You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.”

Something seems to become much more valuable after you lose it.

Today on my work desk is my latest #drawing ✍️🎨🖌️ – Noël de Mon Enfance that depicts the impression of my #childhood #Christmas 🔔🌺🎄 that was #colourful, iconic, dynamic, hybrid, and most important of all, ritualistic as my #festive staple, The Nutcracker 💂 was being watched every year.

And now, the landscape has been changed. The hometown where I belong is lost in a penetrating thick fog. All I could wish for this Christmas is the #nostalgic #magic and #beauty of the #goodolddays to share with friends and family near and far.

La Vie En Art 👗🎨🎹🎻🎭💃 - Travel through Time & Style at Musée Soieries Brochier (10 novembre)

If you think #Lyon is about everything but the #fashion, be prepared to change your mind after reading this post. For this month’s event, we delved into the fashion #history of Lyon by getting up close and personal with the prestigious #Brochierfamily known for #silk production at The Musée Soieries Brochier. 4 generations, 9 members of this Lyonnais family have supplied their #exquisitely #woven and #printed silk #fabrics to some of the greatest #couturiers/fashion #designers such as #Givenchy, #Valentino, #PaulPoiret, just to name a few over the past 130 years.

The fashion #sketch archives on display with the fabrics selected for each look summarized the key #trends of the #1950s. Flipping through them, I got completely immersed in the #classic #elegance and #retro #glam of the #goodolddays. Even more awe-inspiring were the featured #couture pieces impeccably #crafted from the most #delicate and #intricate fabrics. The #Chanel silk #velvetburnout #dress with #iconic #tweed trimmings was an exceptionally beautiful sight to behold. It took great #artisanship to work with such a #precious and #luxurious fabric. What was equally mesmerizing was the #sophisticated #drapes of the #goldlamé #Dior dress. Soieries Brochier fabrics have played an #inspiring role in the #creation of fashion #masterpieces.

With the #technological #innovations of the 21st century, the Brochier family has experimented with weaving silk threads with #opticalfibres to bring about the #LED #intelligentfabrics. #Art, #tech and #heritage all wrapped up in the #luminous #weddingdress at the end of the tour.

Whether it be #visualarts 🖌️🎨🖼️, #classicalmusic 🎻🎹🎶🎼, #opera 🎭, #ballet 🩰 or #architecture 🕍 - and especially #fashion 👗, I ❤️ all of them. I’ve created social media group, La Vie En Art 👗🎨🎹🎻🎭💃 to get the #art lovers in town together to embark on an artistic/#creative journey with me for #gallery/#museum visits, #music/#dance #performances, #exhibitions and casual get-togethers to discuss/exchange news about art on a regular basis. Our kick off meeting took place at "The world according to Andy Warhol" exhibition paying tribute to this most popular and controversial American #artist of the #60s with 50 meticulously curated #photos. An interesting contrast formed between #AndyWarhol’s #vibrant, #flamboyant and #popart #style #vinyl #designs and a series of #portraits of the artist standing with a giant #sunflower 🌻 symbolic of his love for the #beauty of #nature and #simplicity has fascinated me all the way.

I play hard but work even harder.

Today on my work desk is the #sketch ✏️ of my newly-designed Robe Cléopâtre (Cleopatra Dress) experimented with using roadside #wildflowers 🪻🌾 picked in the French countryside, then dried and pressed to depict the #feathery #details 🪶 and golden #floral #beading ⚜️ #Summer in Lyon feels like #autumn in my hometown 🍂 I’ve created this #purplish #blue #chiffon #dress adorned with #gold beading with one of my muses, Queen #Cleopatra in mind that exudes a #classic sense of #nobility with a #modern twist on #BelleÉpoque #aesthetic. This #versatile #elegant piece is a #luxury staple for any special occasions taking place both in the heat 🔥 or in the chill of an early fall. ________________________________

#Design project in progress 👗✂️ My #creative work continues while settling into a new country. I snapped a few shots of experimenting with different #pleat #styles through a #muslin #drape before applying on the #fabric. It may take longer production time but the fun is doubled.

I’ve recently fallen in love with this silk fabric with a lustrous, luxurious and unique appearance due to its irregular slub effect and decided to create a #nostalgic #glam #style out of it for the coming #spring. Do you prefer the figure-flattering #retro day dress paired with a romantic lace veil or the Great Gatsby inspired evening dress that exudes the #1920s cabaret charm, both adorned with subtle pleating details?
