Yesterday morning, I woke up to the news — reported by one of the main newspapers in my country (I'm Italian) and quickly picked up everywhere — that Charles Leclerc is starting to lose faith in Ferrari's project, and that he might even be considering leaving. At the same time, it was reported that Fred Vasseur could be at risk in his role as team principal.

Now, rationally speaking, this isn’t really a scoop. With the results we’ve (not) been getting, it would be ridiculous if Fred wasn’t being questioned. Of course, it’s not all his fault, but he is responsible. That’s what being in charge means: you get the praise and the blame.

For Charles, watching another season slip through his fingers must feel like a punch in the stomach. After qualifying in Imola, I really think he was on the verge of tears. And the way he apologized to us broke my heart.

We’re the first ones to keep saying, “Charles, leave, we don’t deserve you. You deserve a car that can actually give you a real chance to win, even if it’s not red…” But then I read that headline, and just the idea of losing Charles shattered me.

Because I know I’ll stay a Tifosa of the Scuderia even after Charles. But it won’t ever be the same.

And I know I’ll love Charles no matter where he goes, because he’ll always be one of us.

And even if he wins elsewhere... he’ll still carry the pain with him. Because it won’t be in red.

Charles definitely has a secret Instagram account just to keep tabs on Max... there’s no way he liked that post so fast otherwise. (And yes, he was suspiciously quick with the pregnancy announcement too…)

Anyway, huge congrats to Max. He’s already serving as the most unreasonably perfect girl dad. Someone get him a tiny pink crown, stat.
