Handing in
To hand in I decided to present all my material in a box, painted it black and printed a template in the same front used throughout my work on the CV and business cards, this kept the constancy throughout the project.
Tumblr media
I used the and printed it out to say ‘Laura Faulds, Creative Producer’ and re-wrote this onto the inside of the box. After this I then did the same onto the front of the box to say my UP number and the unit name, using the same stripes as the business cards.
Tumblr media
following this I filled it with my material and it was ready hand in!

Testing the CD
I decided to test the CD once it had been burned with the label on to ensure that I had worked and played without error!
Everything worked out well, the CD label was not damaged and did not shift and the played without any issues.

Printing complete
With the CD design printed, I then had to place it carefully onto the CD, trying to fit the edges without showing too much of the CD below:

Printing tests:
I had many failed attempts at printing the design into the correct position on the CD label, after many adjustments it finally had the correct position, as seen below the print was out of line and missed the label, as well as printing onto the wrong side of he paper and printing with the template.

Printing cd artwork
In order to print onto my CD I need to download a template, this is so the design could be printed and placed onto the CD once the showreel was burnt onto the disc.
Initially I thought that I would have the CD’s laser printed but this proved hard to to, first going to Mailboxes and then Staples and being advised the best way to have my design on my CD would be to print onto labels and place on after burning the files. I decided to use this advice and so to do this I bought CD/DVD labels from WHS, downloaded a template and placed my design into the document, I printed this multiple times adjusting the template as I went along until it fitted exactly how I wanted onto the labels. I then decided it would be best to burn my showreel onto the disc and then place the label on after.
To print the design I first kept the templates on to see where adjustments were needed and when it was clear I removed them so they would not be printed/visible on the final CD cover.
(labels below are the ones used for the CD cover, a matte finish).

CV Printed
Today I went to Mailboxes Etc. to have my CV printed on higher quality paper than a normal printer. I chose 200GSM paper because it was thicker than normal and not as flimsy as normal quality paper. the next was 300 and I felt this was too thick and more appropriate for card like prints.
I took in my cv on a PDF file so that it could be printed and printed 2 copies to avoid risk of having to re-print if one accidentally gets damaged.

Website completed:
The website is now finished including all the projects and photography, along with this there is also links and my CV available on the website. The website is simple with the necessary information on it, it simply slides down to each section or to quickly access a page it can be clicked on the top bar. All pages except for the home and contact pages have black and white backgrounds using my own personal photography, I decided to change to black and white for content only as I felt this made it clearer for an employer/viewer to see which areas were content only.
The home page: this now has links to my linkedin and vimeo pages, along with this it has the latest logo and the various pages for the website.
Tumblr media
Skills page: this section shows the areas in which I have skills in from Adobe softwares to Avid and Logic Pro x.
Tumblr media
Showreel: this page consist of the showreel, with a short brief and a link to vimeo to view the showreel.
Tumblr media
Projects: this page shows all my projects, with an individual brief and a link if available to the content, which is viewable via youtube.
Tumblr media
Photography: this page consists of my photography, to show content that is not graphic or film based, the work starts from colour to black and white in an order that groups the work together and to flow nicely.
Tumblr media
CV: this page shows my creative CV, designed and produced using Adobe’s Illustrator.
Tumblr media

CD: template
In order to present my Showreel in a physical form I have created a cd template that will be printed over the next few days.
For this I used a template to ensure that my logo and information would fit and not be cut off of the CD when printed.
Tumblr media
I then added what I wanted to be shown on the CD, ensuring it would fit by creating a transparent circle to outline where the print would end on the CD.
Tumblr media
Following this I exported the file to a JPEG, which then needed to be changed via Photoshop to remove the background of the template. Then it could be exported once again as a JPEG, opened on Illustrator and finally exported as a PDF file so that it is ready for printing!

CV printing: test
I decided to test printing my CV before having it printed properly using high quality paper. To do this I opened my CV’s Ai. file and exported it to a PDF file, this is so I could print it.
Tumblr media
Exporting to a PDF ensured that the quality of the print would be the same as it were on Illustrator. I know this before I had initially saved the file as a JPEG and then converted to PDF, this changed the print quality, the writing was blurred and unclear.
The CV has been test printed and is clear and readable, keeping the black and white clean and smart appearance used within the business card, I feel that the CV has printed well and looks how I expected, it will be taken to be printed over the next few days then ready to hand in.

Making the Showreel
To make my show reel I decided to use the best snippets of each project I worked on, the full projects and details about the individual project including a brief about it and my specific role can be found on my portfolio under ‘Projects’.
I used iMovies to edit the project and piece together the sections of each project.
The project is 4.3 Minutes in total, to give a short introduction of the work I have been involved in, this will give a future employer a quick insight to previous projects and the role I undertook.

CV
I have recently updated my ‘normal’ non-creative CV so that it contains all the relevant and recent information regarding my education, experience, skills and the most up-to-date employment.
After doing so I have uploaded this CV to ‘Reed.com’ a website in order to help my search for jobs within the relevant industry in which I hope to work within, IT based, IT analyst, media or marketing/sales.
Along with this, I have had my CV professional reviewed and critiqued, in hopes to give me an advantage within the competitive graduate market.
My Creative CV is to only contain the necessary and most relevant information: Education, Contact information, Skill Set and a small Profile of myself.

After upgrading my portfolio on branded.me, I decided to connect my 1&1 domain, unfortunately after multiple attempts and no success I decided to create my own domain using Branded.me’s options. The domain connected in a few days and my portfolio can now be found at http://www.laura-faulds.com.

Printing
When it came to finally choosing what to print moo.com allows you to choose one front idea which contains all of your information for the person receiving and a back side which can be for a logo or other designs. For my in particular I decided to use this as another opportunity to showcase my work and decided to choose 10 different photos to be printed onto the back of the business cards.
The front of the cards will all show contact information, logo and my simple design:
Tumblr media
The back of the business cards have 10 different prints in total, all of which will be printed 10 times in total to create 100 business cards. This is all my personal photography, edited using Adobe Lightroom:

Deciding what to print
On moo.com there are many options for your business cards for standard sizing with coloured edges, thicker paper, gloss or matte finishes. I decided to use the mini design as they were simple and I only required a small space to fill with my information.
I decided to stick to the standard 350 gsm which is a premium paper giving a thick feel to the cards, I did not feel the need for the Luxe cards and I did not want the colour on the sides of the cards. I preferred the square corners rather than the rounded, along with this I decide to go for a glossy finish rather than a matte plain finish.
