Samhain of 2019 was so intense. My sister and I gathered for the first time on her new balcony porch. We wanted to light our candles and say a few prayers for the coming year. It was pretty windy, and we struggled to keep our candles lit whatsoever. My crafty sister brought out hot charcoals to help with this. Well, as it grew even darker, the wind picked up as if a tornado were forming. The next door neighbors’ halloween gathering moved inside. We were the only ones still outdoors we could see on our street. I erected a makeshift blockade out of a plastic folding table as leaves tossed themselves this way and that. A hot charcoal landed on my foot. We finally moved our candles inside. We adjusted our prayers. I prayed, ironically, for even more Fire. Make of that what you will. . . When we first met one of our cat babies several years ago, he made up part of a pile of kittens, which were all shades of cream, white, tan, and pink. Pink noses, pink toes, and some pink ears mixed in as well. We wanted a boy kitten, and his 3 sisters had all been adopted already anyway, but we can still remember that pile of kittens and how he wiggled out to come say hello to us. The Lazy Forest crew have been playing a lot of Animal Crossing lately, so we decided to draw some of our favorite villagers! Have you watched Framing Britney yet?
